Intelligent communities are based on the Internet, using vehicles, face recognition, surveillance video structuring, and other technologies to integrate the community’s government services, ...grid-based management, and convenient services. They also design a grid-based intelligent community service management platform to support all kinds of events closely related to residents’ lives and community management. Through relevant questionnaires, statistics, and generalizations, a comprehensive understanding of security management before and after the digital transformation of a community can be obtained. It has been observed after analysis that the detection rate of criminal cases in the public area monitoring range and the community has reached as high as 98.2% and 99.4%, respectively, following the digital transformation. There is a significant positive correlation between the dimensions of institutional remodeling, convenient services, public affairs, community governance performance, and community governance capacity. Residents are highly satisfied with grid-based community governance after digital transformation, with mean scores exceeding 3.0, according to further analysis. This paper provides a theoretical basis for the government, community, and public to promote the application of digital reform in community governance on the ground.

Pyrin and hematopoietic expression, interferon-inducible nature, and nuclear localization (HIN) domain family member 1 (PYHIN1), also known as IFIX, belongs to the family of pyrin proteins. This ...family includes structurally and functionally related mouse (e.g., p202, p203, and p204 proteins) and human (e.g., the interferon-inducible protein 16, absent in melanoma 2 protein, myeloid cell nuclear differentiation antigen, and pyrin and HIN domain family 1 or IFIX) proteins. The IFIX protein belongs to the HIN-200 family of interferon-inducible proteins that have a 200-amino acid signature motif at their C-termini. The increased expression of pyrin proteins in most cell types inhibits cell cycle control and modulates cell survival. Consistent with this role for pyrin proteins, IFIX is a potential antiviral DNA sensor that is essential for immune responses, the detection of viral DNA in the nucleus and cytoplasm, and the binding of foreign DNA via its HIN domain in a sequence non-specific manner. By promoting the ubiquitination and subsequent degradation of MDM2, IFIX acts as a tumor suppressor, thereby leading to p53/TP53 stabilization, HDAC1 regulation via the ubiquitin–proteasome pathway, and tumor-cell-specific silencing of the
maspin
gene. These data demonstrate that the potential molecular mechanism(s) underlying the action of the IFIX protein might be associated with the development of human diseases, such as viral infections, malignant tumors, and autoimmune diseases. This review summarizes the current insights into IFIX functions and how its regulation affects the outcomes of various human diseases.

X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Moreover, the pore parameters were studied by nitrogen adsorption-desorption. The results showed that synthetic graphite had a perfect orderly layered structure with high graphitization degree and a well-developed multistage pore structure with pore sizes ranging from nanometer to micrometer. The specific surface area and pore volume were 415.29 m

, respectively. The results of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) showed that the impregnation pretreatment provided polar groups containing oxygen to the surfaces. These unique characteristics make synthetic graphite possess good adsorption capacity for dye pollutants (the adsorption rate of the methyl orange solution was 99.9% within 60 min at 50 °C, and the pH value of the solution was 3). The effects of temperature and pH value on the adsorption capacity were studied. The repeatability of the adsorption performance was also tested, and the adsorption rate was 84.6% of the initial adsorption rate after five cycles.

Along with horizontal drilling techniques, multi-stage hydraulic fracturing has improved shale gas production significantly in past decades. In order to understand the mechanism of hydraulic ...fracturing and improve treatment designs, it is critical to conduct modelling to predict stimulated fractures. In this paper, related physical processes in hydraulic fracturing are firstly discussed and their effects on hydraulic fracturing processes are analysed. Then historical and state of the art numerical models for hydraulic fracturing are reviewed, to highlight the pros and cons of different numerical methods. Next, commercially available software for hydraulic fracturing design are discussed and key features are summarised. Finally, we draw conclusions from the previous discussions in relation to physics, method and applications and provide recommendations for further research.
This study was to collect, synthesize, and interpret the current qualitative evidence from studies that investigated family coping among people with multiple chronic conditions (MCCs). A ...meta-synthesis approach was used to report this study. A systematic search was performed in five electronic databases, including CINAHL, EMBASE, PsycINFO, Web of Science, and PubMed from January 2000 to December 2020. The PRISMA flow chart and Joanna Briggs Institute Qualitative Assessment and Review Instrument checklist are integrated into the meta-synthesis. A total of ten eligible studies including data from 381 participants were identified. Three meta-themes were identified in the synthesis: (1) family role maintenance in MCCs management, (2) coping as a family, and (3) be frustrated with family interactions. This meta-synthesis indicated the importance of maintaining social roles and family support within family interactions for coping with MCCs. It also demonstrated the frustrations in the family coping process experienced by people with MCCs. Health care professionals should understand the interactions between people with MCCs and their family members that may impact people’s coping. Such an understanding may contribute to the development of supportive programs such as family-based interventions for people with MCCs.
Wounds in the epithelium may lead to serious injurious events or chronic inflammatory diseases, however, multicellular organisms have the ability to self-repair wounds through the movement of ...epithelial cell toward the wound area. Despite intensive studies exploring the mechanism of wound closure, the role of mechanics in epithelial wound closure is still not well explained. In order to investigate the role of mechanical properties on wound closure process, a three-dimensional continuum physics-based computational model is presented in this study. The model takes into account the material property of the epithelial cell, intercellular interactions between neighboring cells at cell-cell junctions, and cell-substrate adhesion between epithelial cells and ECM. Through finite element simulation, it is found that the closure efficiency is related to the initial gap size and the intensity of lamellipodial protrusion. It is also shown that cells at the wound edge undergo higher stress compared with other cells in the epithelial monolayer, and the cellular normal stress dominates over the cellular shear stress. The model presented in this study can be employed as a numerical tool to unravel the mechanical principles behind the complex wound closure process. These results might have the potential to improve effective wound management and optimize the treatment.
The influence of long‐term chemical fertilization on soil microbial communities has been one of the frontier topics of agricultural and environmental sciences and is critical for linking soil ...microbial flora with soil functions. In this study, 16S rRNA gene pyrosequencing and a functional gene array, geochip 4.0, were used to investigate the shifts in microbial composition and functional gene structure in paddy soils with different fertilization treatments over a 22‐year period. These included a control without fertilizers; chemical nitrogen fertilizer (N); N and phosphate (NP); N and potassium (NK); and N, P and K (NPK). Based on 16S rRNA gene data, both species evenness and key genera were affected by P fertilization. Functional gene array‐based analysis revealed that long‐term fertilization significantly changed the overall microbial functional structures. Chemical fertilization significantly increased the diversity and abundance of most genes involved in C, N, P and S cycling, especially for the treatments NK and NPK. Significant correlations were found among functional gene structure and abundance, related soil enzymatic activities and rice yield, suggesting that a fertilizer‐induced shift in the microbial community may accelerate the nutrient turnover in soil, which in turn influenced rice growth. The effect of N fertilization on soil microbial functional genes was mitigated by the addition of P fertilizer in this P‐limited paddy soil, suggesting that balanced chemical fertilization is beneficial to the soil microbial community and its functions.

Ferroptosis is a newly ...identified cell death, which associated with iron accumulation, glutathione (GSH) depletion, lipid peroxidation formation, reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation, and glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) reduction. It has been reported that ferroptosis is linked with PD.Thioredoxin-1 (Trx-1) is a redox regulating protein and plays various roles in regulating the activity of transcription factors and inhibiting apoptosis. However, whether Trx-1 plays the role in regulating ferroptosis involved in PD is still unknown. Our present study showed that 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium (MPP
+
) decreased cell viability, GPX4, and Trx-1, which were reversed by Ferrostatin-1 (Fer-1) in PC 12 cells and SH-SY5Y cells. Moreover, the decreased GPX4 and GSH, and increased ROS were inhibited by Fer-1 and Trx-1 overexpression. We further repeated that behavior deficits resulted from 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) were improved in Trx-1 overexpression transgenic mice. Trx-1 reversed the decreases of GPX4 and tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) induced by MPTP in the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNpc). Our results suggest that Trx-1 inhibits ferroptosis in PD through regulating GPX4 and GSH.

Associations between abnormal gut microbiome compositions and anxiety-like behaviors are well established. However, it is unknown whether the gut microbiome composition is associated with the severity of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and relief from clinical symptoms in patients.
Stool samples from 36 patients with active GAD (A-GAD group) and 24 matched healthy control subjects (HC group) were analyzed by 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Anxiety was assessed with the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale and the Self-rating Anxiety Scale, and global assessments of functioning were performed at baseline and 1 month after drug treatment.
Gut microbiome compositions were altered in A-GAD patients, with fewer operational taxonomic units and lower fecal bacterial α-diversity. Specifically, Firmicutes and Tenericutes abundances were lower in A-GAD patients, and several genera were differentially represented in the A-GAD and HC groups. The abundances of Eubacterium_coprostanoligenes_group, Ruminococcaceae_UCG-014, and Prevotella_9 correlated negatively with the anxiety severity and positively with anxiety reduction, whereas the abundances of Bacteroides and Escherichia-Shigella were positively associated with anxiety severity. Sex, smoking, and alcohol intake influenced the gut microbiome composition.
The sample sizes were small and the stool samples were collected only at baseline; therefore, a causal association between changes in intestinal flora and disease remission was not established. Moreover, the effects of different drugs on gut microbiome composition were not investigated.
Altered gut microbiome composition may contribute to GAD pathogenesis and remission.
