The objective of this study was to define the best irrigation level in a sprinkler system, submitted to nitrogen doses in covering in the municipality of Tangará da Serra - MT, for two cultivars of ...peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.). The experiment was carried out in the experimental field of the State University of Mato Grosso (UNEMAT), located geographically in latitude 14°39′S; Longitude 57°25′W, at 440 meters of altitude. The climate is classified as tropical humid megathermal (Aw), with annual average rainfall of 1,830 mm and average temperature of the air 24.4°C. The soil is classified as Dystroferric Red Latosol. The experimental design was in randomized blocks where 4 levels (30, 70, 110 and 150% of the reference evapotranspiration, ET0) were determined. In each level, 0, 30, 60, 90 and 120 Kg ha-1 of nitrogen were applied in two peanut cultivars IAC Tatu ST and IAC Runner 886. Each plot had 24 lines per 12 m length, 4 lines for each dose of N in each level and cultivar with 0.45 m spacing between lines. The irrigation level that provided the highest productivity in the development cycle for both peanut cultivars was 110% of ET0. While the levels of 30 and 70% of the ET0 allowed greater growth in height, but smaller productivities, the 150% ET0 level showed higher yields in the husk, and lower grain yield due to the high germination rate of the grain yet in the plant. For Tatu cultivar, doses of 60 to 90 kg ha-1 of N increase productivity, whereas for Runner cultivar nitrogen fertilization did not affect productivity.
To quantitate hand muscle myotonia and to assess the relationship between CTG repeat length and myotonia in myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1).
First dorsal interosseous twitch and tetanic contractions ...evoked by single and 10-Hz ulnar nerve stimulation were recorded with a force transducer in 15 patients with genetically confirmed DM1 and 15 control subjects. An automated computer program analyzed three single and three tetanic recordings per subject on 2 successive days by placing cursors along the declining (relaxation) phase of the force recordings at 90, 50, and 5% of peak force (PF) and calculating relaxation times (RT) between these points.
Tetanic and twitch RT was longer and PF lower in patients than subjects. RT (90 to 5%) was above the normal mean + 2.5 SD in 13 tetanic (87%) and 11 (73%) twitch patient recordings. In DM1, prolongation of RT was due mainly to delay in the terminal (50 to 5%), rather than the initial (90 to 50%) phase of relaxation, and was much greater in tetanic than single-twitch recordings. Mean test-retest variability was 19% for tetanic RT and 16% for tetanic PF. In DM1, both tetanic and twitch RT were positively correlated with leukocyte CTG repeat length.
In DM1, myotonia of intrinsic hand muscles can be quantitated reliably by automated analysis of tetanic and twitch RT, targeting, in particular, the terminal phase of muscle relaxation after tetanic stimulation. Severity of hand muscle myotonia depends on CTG repeat length consistent with a "triplet repeat dosage" effect on chloride channel mRNA splicing and function.
The objective of this study was to analyze associated factor to SARS-CoV-2 infection among dental professionals. This was a cross-sectional study carried out from February to September 2020 in the ...municipality of São Paulo, Brazil. We included all dental team working at 11 basic health units. Professionals included were from the three different categories oral surgeon-dentist, dental technician, dental assistant. The analysis included SARS-CoV-2 infection and independent variables (sociodemographic, labor and behavior) with descriptive analyses with absolute (n) and relative (%) frequencies, inferential analysis by chi-squared and Fisher exact test (p < 0.05). There was a prevalence of 20.3% of infection by SARS-CoV-2 between dental professionals. However, in the analysis by professional category the infection rate was 3.8 among oral surgeon-dentist, 30.0% among dental technician, 33.3% for dental assistant. The diagnostic of SARS-CoV-2 infection was associated with lower income (p = 0.027), lower level of formal education (p = 0.011), technical professional category (p = 0.025), and the use of public transportation (p = 0.009). The higher prevalence of COVID-19 in technical professionals than oral surgeon-dentists may suggest that infection had occurred outside the working environment, once professional had personal protective equipment available as well as the training for their professional activity. In addition, professionals reported to feel safe and prepared to perform their activities in the work environment.

ABSTRACT The Rosetta probe, orbiting Jupiter-family comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, has been detecting individual dust particles of mass larger than 10−10 kg by means of the GIADA dust collector and ...the OSIRIS Wide Angle Camera and Narrow Angle Camera since 2014 August and will continue until 2016 September. Detections of single dust particles allow us to estimate the anisotropic dust flux from 67P, infer the dust loss rate and size distribution at the surface of the sunlit nucleus, and see whether the dust size distribution of 67P evolves in time. The velocity of the Rosetta orbiter, relative to 67P, is much lower than the dust velocity measured by GIADA, thus dust counts when GIADA is nadir-pointing will directly provide the dust flux. In OSIRIS observations, the dust flux is derived from the measurement of the dust space density close to the spacecraft. Under the assumption of radial expansion of the dust, observations in the nadir direction provide the distance of the particles by measuring their trail length, with a parallax baseline determined by the motion of the spacecraft. The dust size distribution at sizes >1 mm observed by OSIRIS is consistent with a differential power index of −4, which was derived from models of 67P's trail. At sizes <1 mm, the size distribution observed by GIADA shows a strong time evolution, with a differential power index drifting from −2 beyond 2 au to −3.7 at perihelion, in agreement with the evolution derived from coma and tail models based on ground-based data. The refractory-to-water mass ratio of the nucleus is close to six during the entire inbound orbit and at perihelion.
Polymorphic low-penetrance genes have been consistently associated with the susceptibility to a series of human tumors, including differentiated thyroid cancer.
To determine their role in medullary ...thyroid cancer (MTC), we used TaqMan SNP method to genotype 47 sporadic MTC (s-MTC) and a control group of 578 healthy individuals for CYP1A2*F, CYP1A1m1, GSTP1, NAT2 and 72TP53. A logistic regression analysis showed that NAT2C/C (OR=3.87; 95% CI=2.11-7.10; P=2.2×10(-5)) and TP53C/C genotypes (OR=3.87; 95% CI=1.78-6.10; P=2.8×10(-4)) inheritance increased the risk of s-MTC. A stepwise regression analysis indicated that TP53C/C genotype contributes with 8.07% of the s-MTC risk.
We were unable to identify any relationship between NAT2 and TP53 polymorphisms suggesting they are independent factors of risk to s-MTC. In addition, there was no association between the investigated genes and clinical or pathological features of aggressiveness of the tumors or the outcome of MTC patients.
In conclusion, we demonstrated that detoxification genes and apoptotic and cell cycle control genes are involved in the susceptibility of s-MTC and may modulate the susceptibility to the disease.
Abstract
PDS 110 is a young disc-hosting star in the Orion OB1A association. Two dimming events of similar depth and duration were seen in 2008 (WASP) and 2011 (KELT), consistent with an object in a ...closed periodic orbit. In this paper, we present data from a ground-based observing campaign designed to measure the star both photometrically and spectroscopically during the time of predicted eclipse in 2017 September. Despite high-quality photometry, the predicted eclipse did not occur, although coherent structure is present suggesting variable amounts of stellar flux or dust obscuration. We also searched for radial velocity (RV) oscillations caused by any hypothetical companion and can rule out close binaries to 0.1Ms. A search of Sonneberg plate archive data also enabled us to extend the photometric baseline of this star back more than 50 yr, and similarly does not re-detect any deep eclipses. Taken together, they suggest that the eclipses seen in WASP and KELT photometry were due to aperiodic events. It would seem that PDS 110 undergoes stochastic dimmings that are shallower and of shorter duration than those of UX Ori variables, but may have a similar mechanism.

To (1) determine appropriate decision thresholds and diagnostic accuracies for pleural fluid (PF) tests that discriminate between exudative and transudative pleural effusions, and (2) evaluate the ...quality of the primary investigations.
Formal meta-analysis of studies that report the diagnostic value of pleural fluid tests.
Data collected from international academic medical centers.
Hospitalized patients undergoing thoracentesis for pleural effusions.
Primary investigators were requested to transmit original data from patients described in their studies.
Eight primary studies described 1,448 patients with one or more of the following tests: protein (P)-PF, P-PF/serum ratio (R), bilirubin (BILI)-R, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH)-PF, LDH-R, cholesterol (C)-PF, C-R, and albumin gradient. We found that all eight tests had similar diagnostic accuracies when evaluated by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis except for BILI-R, which was less diagnostically accurate. Decision thresholds determined by ROC analysis differed from previously reported values for LDH-PF (>0.45 upper limits of normal) and C-PF (>45 mg/dL). Paired and triplet test combinations tended to have higher diagnostic accuracies compared with individual tests, but examination of the odds ratios with 95% confidence intervals did not identify a clearly superior test combination. Limitations of the primary studies presented a high likelihood of bias affecting their results.
Several strategies exist for clinicians in utilizing PF tests to classify effusions as exudates or transudates but accurate interpretations of these test results will require better designed studies.
This is a preliminary report on successful results obtained during treatment of two patients with chronic spinal cord injury. The therapeutic approach was based on the generation of controlled ...inflammatory activity at the injury site that induced a microenvironment for the subsequent administration of autologous, BM-driven transdifferentiated neural stem cells (NSC).
BM mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) were cocultured with the patient's autoimmune T (AT) cells to be transdifferentiated into NSC. Forty-eight hours prior to NSC implant, patients received an i.v. infusion of 5×108 to 1×109 AT cells. NSC were infused via a feeding artery of the lesion site. Safety evaluations were performed everyday, from the day of the first infusion until 96h after the second infusion. After treatment, patients started a Vojta and Bobath neurorehabilitation program.
At present two patients have been treated. Patient 1 was a 19-year-old man who presented paraplegia at the eight thoracic vertebra (T8) with his sensitive level corresponding to his sixth thoracic metamere (T6). He received two AT–NSC treatments and neurorehabilitation for 6 months. At present his motor level corresponds to his first sacral metamere (S1) and his sensitive level to the fourth sacral metamere (S4). Patient 2 was a 21-year-old woman who had a lesion that extended from her third to her fifth cervical vertebrae (C3–C5). Prior to her first therapeutic cycle she had severe quadriplegia and her sensitive level corresponded to her second cervical metamere (C2). After 3 months of treatment her motor and sensitive levels reached her first and second thoracic metameres (T1–T2). No adverse events were detected in either patient.
The preliminary results lead us to think that this minimally invasive approach, which has minor adverse events, is effective for the repair of chronic spinal cord lesions.
Municipal (bottom ash and glass cullet coming from the municipal solid waste incineration and a community glass recycling program, respectively) and industrial (steel fly ash) wastes are particularly ...suitable to be subjected to a vitrification/devitrification process, leading to the production of alkaline and alkaline-earth silicate differently colored glasses with good chemical properties, capable to be transformed into surface nucleated basaltic glass-ceramics. These materials were investigated by means of differential thermal analysis, durability and release tests, X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy.
