We first present the implementation and validation of the SuSAv2-MEC 1p1h and 2p2h models in the GENIE neutrino-nucleus interaction event generator and a comparison of the subsequent predictions to ...measurements of lepton and hadron kinematics from the T2K experiment. These predictions are also compared to those of other available models in GENIE. We further compare semi-inclusive predictions of the implemented 1p1h model to those of the microscopic model on which SuSAv2 is based-relativistic mean field-to begin to test the validity of widely used "factorization" assumptions employed by generators to predict hadron kinematics from inclusive input models. The results highlight that a more precise treatment of hadron kinematics in generators is essential in order to attain the few-% level uncertainty on neutrino interactions necessary for the next generation of accelerator-based long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiments.

We discuss some aspects of critical electric and magnetic fields in a field theory with holographic dual description. We extend the analysis of 1, which finds a critical electric field at ...which the Schwinger pair production barrier drops to zero, to the case of magnetic fields. We first find that, unlike ordinary weakly coupled theories, the magnetic field is not subject to any perturbative instability originating from the presence of a tachyonic ground state in the W-boson spectrum. This follows from the large value of the ’t Hooft coupling λ, which prevents the Zeeman interaction term to overcome the particle mass at high
B
. Consequently, we study the next possible B-field instability, i.e. monopole pair production, which is the S-dual version of the Schwinger effect. Also in this case a critical magnetic field is expected when the tunneling barrier drops to zero. These Schwinger-type criticalities are the holographic duals, in the bulk, to the fields
E
or
B
reaching the tension of F1 or D1 strings respectively. We then discuss how this effect is modified when electric and magnetic fields are present simultaneously and dyonic states in the spectrum can be pair produced by a generic
E
−
B
background. Finally, we analyze finite temperature effects on Schwinger criticalities, i.e. in the AdS-Schwarzshild black hole background.
An upgrade of the Near Detector of the T2K long baseline neutrino oscillation experiment, ND280, has been proposed. This upgrade will include two new Time Projection Chambers, each equipped with 16 ...resistive Micromegas modules for gas amplification. A first prototype of resistive Micromegas has been designed, built, installed in the HARP field cage, and exposed to a beam of charged particles at CERN. The data have been used to characterize the performances of the resistive Micromegas module. A spatial resolution of 300 μm and a deposited energy resolution of 9% were observed for horizontal electrons crossing the TPCs at 30 cm from the anode. Such performances fully satisfy the requirements for the upgrade of the ND280 TPC.

The aim of this work is to analyze Microbial Fuel Cell (MFC) processing of dairy wastewater with a multivariate statistical approach. An operating MFC was monitored for 70 days using dairy influents ...with varying characteristics. Results of a Principal Component Analysis (PCA) suggested that the initial dataset of 8 process-related variables could be reduced to 3 main components, explaining 80% of the cumulative variance. The first principal component (PC1) was strictly related to the conductivity of the influents and the performance of the MFC (in terms of COD removal and CE), while PC2's main contributors were: influent pH, power density and COD of the anolyte. Finally, PC3 was related to the anolyte characteristics (pH, CODin) and CE. Results describe how relationships between operational variables can lead to the definition of new sets of explanatory variables to improve process visualization and to further process modifications for its optimization.
