This work explores the influence of demographic processes, especially birth rate's movements, on the changes in the features and organisation of primary education in Istria between years 2001 and ...2017. The analyses were implemented on the level of municipalities and cities, and greater spatial units of Istria - coastal area, the inland and the city of Pula. We analysed the changes in population and student contingent, fluctuations of birth rate, net migration and the changes in primary education (number of students and classes, number of teachers and schools). The results have pointed out to the existence of a positive connection between birth rate's change and number of students in primary schools, but also that birth rate has a postponed effect on the size of the student contingent. Spatial disparities between the Istria's inland and coast are determined also in the features of primary education that generally adapts to demographic processes more slowly.
This paper analyses the influence of metallurgy, the leading branch of industry in Sisak in the second half of the twentieth century, on the urban development of settlements. It also carries the ...short retrospective of the development of Željezara Sisak (Sisak Steelworks), since the urban transformation of the town is mostly based on the development of industry. New vacancies led to demographic changes that in the first place manifested in changes of the territorial arrangement of population. The influence of Željezara Sisak is clearly visible in the territorial expansion of the town, housing development and traffic system development as well as in educational system, recreation system etc.
The collapse of socialist economic system in Croatia was followed by a period of economic transition during which the industry sector was affected by major changes. This study, on an example of ...Central Croatia, analyzes the spatial aspect of these changes between 1990 and 2011. The used data were taken from the National Bureau of Statistics and studies in which the transition period industry is researched from economic and geographical point of view. Calculations of most indicators referred to a county level while some indicators were calculated at the level of administrative cities and municipalities. It was found that, in Central Croatia, there had come to a process of deindustrialization, and in some rare cases a process of reindustrialization, an increase in importance of tertiary and quaternary activities, and calculation of some indicators such as degree of industrialization, location quotient, regional factor and index of specialization indicated on the existence of significant differences between individual parts of Central Croatia.
geografsku distribuciju. Porter (2003.) razlikuje nadregionalne djelatnosti (engl. traded), zatim
djelatnosti ovisne o ...prirodnim resursima i lokalne djelatnosti.
plinom i parom te klimatizacija; građevinarstvo; opskrba vodom, uklanjanje otpadnih voda;
zdravstvena zaštita i socijalna skrb itd.
lokalnih i ostalih djelatnosti u pogledu zaposlenosti.
The starting point of this paper is the classification of economic activities according to their geographical distribution. Porter (2003) distinguishes traded activities, activities depending on ...natural resources and local activities. The aim of this paper is to establish the local economic activities (activity sections) in Croatia, which means activities whose layout in space is adjusted to spatial distribution of population. For that purpose a modified use of Gini's coefficient has been suggested, the Gini's population coefficient, which compares geographical distribution of employment in certain activities with geographical distribution of population. This has established economical activities which are distributed amongst counties in Croatia in consistence to the distribution of population (2017): education, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, water supply, human health and social work activities, etc. The second part of this paper identifies the activities which are distributed in municipalities and towns of Croatia similarly to population. Education is the activity whose geographical distribution slightly deviates from the distribution of population in Croatia by municipalities and towns. The existence of differences between local and other activities connected with employment has also been pointed out in the paper.
This paper contains the outline of companies in processing industry in the spatial-economic structure of Banovina (Banija), a traditionally underdeveloped region in the southern part of Sisak and ...Moslavina County. The emphasis is on the spacing and branch structure of the industry, the size of the company and the number of employees. The comparison with the industrial structure of the northern, more developed part of the county (Sisacka Posavina, Moslavina) has also been done. The conclusion is that in Banovina the industry is centred in particular old district centres (Petrinja, Glina, Hrvatska Kostajnica), and also that branches based on cheap owned raw material (wood-processing, food-processing industry) dominate in the area. Although small firms, very often on the level of small family businesses, dominate in the space structure, almost half of the number of the industrial workers are employed in one big company (Gavrilovic ltd.). At the end of the paper there is a short review of the important industrial capacities in particular administrative towns and districts. PUBLICATION ABSTRACT
Orienteering as a sporting and competitive as well as recreational and educational activity is increasingly being carried out by various sports associations, hikers and other amateur sportspeople. ...Its implementation involves class and subject teachers in schools, especially those involved in the GLOBE programme. The aim of this paper is to examine the presence of orienteering or some of its elements in the school and subject plans and programmes of both lower and higher grades of primary as well as secondary schools in the Republic of Croatia, and a possible role of orienteering in promoting cross-curricular teaching. Because of the desire to supplement the teaching methods and forms of work with more work outside the classroom, the purpose of this paper is to contribute to forming a justified demand for incorporating orienteering in the primary school curriculum in Croatia. Since orienteering is particularly significant from the point of view of Geography and Physical Education teaching, the existing curricula of the two subjects have been analysed to identify possible cross-curricular links. This paper presents the results of the research conducted in 2017 and 2018 on a sample of 146 Geography and Physical Education teachers from Croatia. The results indicate that teachers are familiar with these activities. Although they recognize the potential in terms of the wish to integrate some contents into teaching plans and programmes, as well as contribute to cross-curricular teaching, the content of orienteering is implemented very rarely or not at all in primary, and even less, in secondary schools. The results of this research also point to the lack of class and subject teacher competences and their poor knowledge of this area.Key words: correlation; Geography; orienteering; out-of-classroom teaching; Physical Education. Orijentaciju kao sportsko-natjecateljsku, rekreacijsku ili edukacijsku aktivnost sve učestalije provode različite sportske udruge, planinari i drugi rekreativci. U njezinu provođenju sudjeluju iučitelji i nastavnici u školama, naročito onima uključenim u GLOBE program.
