This is the first monograph that strives to give a complete and detailed description of the collective modes (CMs) in unconventional superfluids and superconductors (UCSF&SC). Using the most powerful ...method of modern theoretical physics — the path (functional) integral technique — authors build the three- and two-dimensional models for s-, p- and d-wave pairing in neutral as well as in charged Fermi–systems, models of superfluid Bose–systems and Fermi–Bose–mixtures. Within these models they study the collective properties of such systems as superfluid 3He, superfluid 4He, superfluid 3He-4He mixtures, superfluid 3He-films, superfluid 3He and superfluid 3He-4He mixtures in aerogel, high temperature superconductors, heavy-fermion superconductors, superconducting films etc. Authors compare their results with experimental data and predict a lot of new experiments on CMs study. This opens for experimentalists new possibilities for search of new intriguing features of collective behavior of UCSF&SC.
The XENON10 experiment at the Gran Sasso National Laboratory uses a 15 kg xenon dual phase time projection chamber to search for dark matter weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs). The detector ...measures simultaneously the scintillation and the ionization produced by radiation in pure liquid xenon to discriminate signal from background down to 4.5 keV nuclear-recoil energy. A blind analysis of 58.6 live days of data, acquired between October 6, 2006, and February 14, 2007, and using a fiducial mass of 5.4 kg, excludes previously unexplored parameter space, setting a new 90% C.L. upper limit for the WIMP-nucleon spin-independent cross section of 8.8x10(-44) cm2 for a WIMP mass of 100 GeV/c2, and 4.5x10(-44) cm2 for a WIMP mass of 30 GeV/c2. This result further constrains predictions of supersymmetric models.
Hemostasis system in patients with schizophrenia and schizophrenia spectrum disorders was examined using “Fibrinodynamics” technology that allows evaluating the overal coagulation, fibrinolysis, and ...hemostasis potentials. All indices, except for the parameter characterizing the hemostasis balance, were statistically higher (
p
<0.0001) in patients than in healthy volunteers (control). In most patients, the hemostasis system remained balanced despite changes in individual coagulation and fibrinolysis parameters. The obtained results have a fundamental importance, expand the understanding of the pathogenesis of endogenous mental disorders, and are useful for the development of personalized approaches to the treatment of these patients.
XENON10 is the first two-phase xenon time projection chamber (TPC) developed within the XENON dark matter search program. The TPC, with an active liquid xenon (LXe) mass of about 14
kg, was installed ...at the Gran Sasso Underground Laboratory (LNGS) in Italy, and operated for more than one year, with excellent stability and performance. Results from a dark matter search with XENON10 have been published elsewhere. In this paper, we summarize the design and performance of the detector and its subsystems, based on calibration data using sources of gamma-rays and neutrons as well as background and Monte Carlo simulation data. The results on the detector’s energy threshold, position resolution, and overall efficiency show a performance that exceeds design specifications, in view of the very low energy threshold achieved (<10
keVr) and low background rate achieved.

The article considers the problem of making multicriteria decisions in which the decision maker (DM) has the opportunity to indicate the range of selection policies to determine the most effective ...scope of the considered alternatives. The concept of the Dirichlet area of an alternative is introduced in the blurred area of the target settings of the DM, and four groups of quantitative characteristics are proposed for a holistic description of these areas. A six-step decision-making algorithm is developed. Two mathematical models of multipurpose optimization and systematization of selection policies in the Dirichlet domain are proposed. The proposed method is illustrated by solving the problem of choosing the complex of the most rational concepts of a high-altitude unmanned aerial vehicle.
In this paper, we describe new investment models with uniform debt repayment during the life of the project, quite adequately describing real investment projects. Within these models, it is possible, ...in particular, to analyze the dependence of effectiveness of investment projects on debt financing and taxation. We will work within the modern Brusov–Filatova–Orekhova theory of capital cost and capital structure as well as within a perpetuity limit.
Liquid xenon dark matter detectors have been successfully employed to search for WIMPs, a proposed dark matter candidate. Increasing the scintillation wavelength from 175 nm to 300-400 nm can ...increase light collection and consequently improve sensitivity to dark matter. Such a shift increases the reflectivity of common reflector materials, decreases the amount of Rayleigh scattering and boosts the quantum efficiency of photomultiplier tubes. In this paper, we show that depositing p-terphenyl (p-TP) solid wavelength shifter on PTFE reflectors and the entrance window of a photomultiplier tube enhanced light-collection efficiency by 21%. We also observed an anti-correlation between the liquid xenon temperature and electron drift length, indicating that the p-TP dissolves into liquid xenon with a temperature dependent solubility. Possible ways to solve the drift length problem are discussed in the paper.
