A Good Practice is a practice that works well, produces good results, and is recommended as a model. MACVIA‐ARIA Sentinel Network (MASK), the new Allergic Rhinitis and its Impact on Asthma (ARIA) ...initiative, is an example of a Good Practice focusing on the implementation of multi‐sectoral care pathways using emerging technologies with real life data in rhinitis and asthma multi‐morbidity. The European Union Joint Action on Chronic Diseases and Promoting Healthy Ageing across the Life Cycle (JA‐CHRODIS) has developed a checklist of 28 items for the evaluation of Good Practices. SUNFRAIL (Reference Sites Network for Prevention and Care of Frailty and Chronic Conditions in community dwelling persons of EU Countries), a European Union project, assessed whether MASK is in line with the 28 items of JA‐CHRODIS. A short summary was proposed for each item and 18 experts, all members of ARIA and SUNFRAIL from 12 countries, assessed the 28 items using a Survey Monkey‐based questionnaire. A visual analogue scale (VAS) from 0 (strongly disagree) to 100 (strongly agree) was used. Agreement equal or over 75% was observed for 14 items (50%). MASK is following the JA‐CHRODIS recommendations for the evaluation of Good Practices.
The Raman spectrum of natural PbS has been shown to exhibit features related to the IR-active (Raman forbidden) LO phonons and to allowed scattering by two phonons. In order to confirm the ...vibrational nature of these features, and their peculiar temperature dependence, we compare here the spectra obtained for natural samples (i.e. mineral as well as synthetic with the natural isotopic abundance) with those measured for crystals prepared from highly enriched
34S. The observed isotopic shifts confirm the vibrational nature of the structures mentioned above. We have also measured the spectra of synthetic samples of PbS annealed at several different pressures of sulphur. Because of their non-stoichiometric sulphur content they have carrier concentrations (either electrons or holes) in the 1×10
17–3×10
18
carriers/cm
3 range (as determined from their IR reflection spectra). The measured spectra, as well as their temperature dependence, do not depend on the bulk carrier concentration, a fact that must result from surface pinning of the Fermi level within the fundamental energy gap.
We finally discuss the apparent paradox of why the IR spectra reveal coupled LO-phonon–plasmon modes whereas the Raman spectra exhibit the bare LO-phonons.
Background:
Patients with inflammatory bowel disease who achieve remission with anti-tumour necrosis factor (anti-TNF) drugs may have treatment withdrawn due to safety concerns and cost ...considerations, but there is a lack of prospective, controlled data investigating this strategy. The primary study aim is to compare the rates of clinical remission at 1 year in patients who discontinue anti-TNF treatment versus those who continue treatment.
Methods:
This is an ongoing, prospective, double-blind, multicentre, randomized, placebo-controlled study in patients with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis who have achieved clinical remission for ⩾6 months with an anti-TNF treatment and an immunosuppressant. Patients are being randomized 1:1 to discontinue anti-TNF therapy or continue therapy. Randomization stratifies patients by the type of inflammatory bowel disease and drug (infliximab versus adalimumab) at study inclusion. The primary endpoint of the study is sustained clinical remission at 1 year. Other endpoints include endoscopic and radiological activity, patient-reported outcomes (quality of life, work productivity), safety and predictive factors for relapse. The required sample size is 194 patients. In addition to the main analysis (discontinuation versus continuation), subanalyses will include stratification by type of inflammatory bowel disease, phenotype and previous treatment. Biological samples will be obtained to identify factors predictive of relapse after treatment withdrawal.
Results:
Enrolment began in 2016, and the study is expected to end in 2020.
Conclusions:
This study will contribute prospective, controlled data on outcomes and predictors of relapse in patients with inflammatory bowel disease after withdrawal of anti-TNF agents following achievement of clinical remission.

In centers dedicated to epilepsy surgery, about 20% of surgical
interventions involve extratemporal epilepsy and the majority
of cases correspond to the frontal lobe. The objective was to
evaluate ...the neuropathological findings and the post-surgical
clinical evolution in patients with drug-resistant extratemporal
epilepsy treated in the National Epilepsy Surgery Program. From
the database (Pathological Anatomy) of patients with drugresistant focal epilepsy, operated between 2002 and 2017, cases
with extratemporal epilepsy were selected. All surgeries were
guided by electrocorticography. Of the 64 patients studied, 17
were extratemporal. The average age at the time of surgery was
24.7 years In 66.66%, lesions were detected in imaging studies.
Histological diagnoses were focal cortical dysplasia type I (4), IIa
(1) and IIb (5); pilocytic astrocytoma (1); cavernous angioma (1);
ganglioglioma (1); meningioangliomatosis (1); polymicrogyria (1)
and descriptive (2). In the last evaluation, 8 patients continued with
epileptic seizures (47.05%), 6 were without seizures (35.29%)
and 3 did not attend the consultation. 26.56% of the patients
corresponded with extra-temporal epilepsy, a result similar to that
described in the literature. Neuropathological diagnoses are similar
to those found in temporal lobe epilepsy with a predominant focal
cortical dysplasia. Although the post-surgical outcome is inferior to
temporary resections, surgery offers a benefit to these patients by
reducing the frequency of seizures
cortical focal tipo I (4), IIa (1) y IIb (5); astrocitoma pilocítico (1);
angioma cavernoso (1); ganglioglioma (1); meningioangliomatosis
(1); polimicrogiria (1) y descriptivo (2).
This work presents the software implementation of a tissue engineering image analysis tool through the study of several biomaterials by means of different microscopy techniques (optical, scanning ...electron, and atomic force microscopy). With this tool, different quantitative information has been extracted from the microscopy image analysis of these biomaterials, as the number of objects, their mean size and the area they cover. Morphological characteristics, as the roundness or the porosity have been also obtained. All these quantitative information has permitted an statistical analysis over the obtained results.
This paper contains the procedure for the implementation of an application for exam test grading in a fully automatic way, putting into practice the resources that artificial vision makes available. ...This application allows you to grade an exam that has been designed in a pre-established format and that has subsequently been solved by the evaluated person. The qualification process is possible through the comparison between the test already solved with the correct answers and the test that the evaluated person has completed. Python and OpenCV were used for the development of the application, the latter was necessary in the image analysis and processing stage, where the objective of the application was based on the recognition of contours and marks detected in the sample photographs. This project proposes a viable and practical option in the optimization of the exam test qualification process, saving time, and making teacher performance more efficient.
