A study of double‐charmed meson production in high‐energy proton–proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider is presented. Considering the color dipole formalism developed in the transverse ...momentum representation along with the double parton scattering mechanism, predictions are made for the transverse momentum differential cross section for different pairs of D$$ D $$‐mesons. The theoretical results cover the center‐of‐mass energy and forward rapidities available by the LHCb experiment. The proton–proton results considering different unintegrated gluon distributions are compared to the respective data collected at the LHC.
By employing the color dipole approach in the momentum representation taking into account the nonlinear behavior of the QCD dynamics, we make predictions for the D‐meson differential cross‐section in ...terms of the transverse momentum and rapidity distributions considering pp collisions at the LHC. Moreover, a comparison between our results and the corresponding experimental measurements provided by the ALICE and LHCb experiments in different rapidity bins is performed.
Our work aims to investigate the interaction between fermions and dark matter (DM) particles in electron‐positron collisions through interaction of a new massive vector mediator, Z′. The production ...of scalar, fermionic, and vector DM pairs via electron‐positron annihilation into the new boson is investigated, evaluating the total cross section in the center‐of‐mass frame. As a result, the possible values of the coupling constants between the DM and the Standard Model of the Elementary Particles particles are mapped according to the exclusion limits obtained by the CMS and ATLAS experiments and the Planck satellite. We show that there are several possibilities for mass ranges of this new massive mediator and for the DM particles, which are not excluded by collider and astrophysical limits.
Charmonium production associated with a photon in coherent hadron–hadron interactions at high‐energy colliders is a suitable observable to test the partonic density function in the proton and in ...nuclei. We employ nonrelativistic quantum chromodynamics to investigate the transverse momentum distribution and total cross sections of J/ψ + γ production at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the electron‐ion collider (EIC). Our results show that discrimination can be made to test the parameters for the matrix elements operators, which varies by a factor of 3. A higher transverse momentum region is more sensitive for pPb collisions at the LHC, although the EIC kinematic region is also favorable at low transverse momentum.
The discovery of the massive vectorial bosons Z0 and W was a milestone in the development of the Standard Model of Elementary Particles and provided a comprehension of a wide range of experimentally measured production mechanisms. This article presents an overview of the theory and instrumentation which led to the discovery of the massive vector boson Z0 in 1983, one of the mediators of the weak force and responsible for neutral current interactions. A brief historical context of the the development of the Theory of Weak Interactions is done, from the discovery of radioactivity to its unification with the Quantum Electrodynamics, as well as a description of the key experiments involved and a discussion of the obtained results. Finally, the results obtained by the UA1 and UA2 experiments at S p p ¯ S are presented, which resulted in the 1984 Nobel Prize.

We discuss the CMS capabilities of measuring vector mesons in pp and heavy-ion collisions based on the recent results of the exclusive dilepton and diboson production. Studies evaluating the ...detection of exclusive J/psi and Upsilon vector meson photoproduction in the dimuon decay channel are presented. As a result, we report the measurements performed with the CMS detector that are in the invariant mass range relevant for future studies of exclusive vector meson photoproduction in CMS.
