Acute Zonal Occult Outer Retinopathy (AZOOR) is characterized by sudden visual impairment, often presenting with scotoma and photopsia in young to middle-aged adults, showing a female predominance. ...This condition, distinct from genetic disorders like retinitis pigmentosa, lacks a hereditary basis and exhibits unique fundus changes and imaging features indicative of outer retinal dysfunction. Recent advancements have broadened our understanding, identifying variants like Acute Annular Outer Retinopathy (AAOR) and Multizonal outer retinopathy and retinal pigment epitheliopathy (MORR), each with specific clinical presentations and imaging characteristics. The diagnosis of AZOOR and its variants primarily relies on excluding other conditions through comprehensive evaluation, including imaging and serological testing. Treatment approaches, including the use of corticosteroids and immunosuppressives, remain debated, with some evidence suggesting benefits in the early stages. The prognosis of AZOOR varies, with most patients experiencing stabilization, although complications like choroidal neovascularization may occur, requiring targeted therapy. This manuscript elucidates the complexity of AZOOR, emphasizing the necessity of high clinical suspicion and the role of advanced imaging in diagnosis and management.
Acute retinal necrosis (ARN) is a relatively uncommon yet devastating cause of vision-threatening uveitis. This manuscript analyzed the cases of ARN that have been reported following SARS-CoV-2 ...infections and anti- SARS-CoV-2 vaccinations. A total of nine cases of ARN were reported in the literature. Among them, four patients with ARN were attributed to SARS-CoV-2 infections, and a history of recent Covid vaccination was present in five patients when a diagnosis of ARN was made. ARN has been described following SARS-CoV-2 infections or vaccinations against the virus, and many of these cases may be based on a cause-to-effect hypothesis.
To evaluate the frequency and reason for retraction of ophthalmology publications.
Two independent reviewers retrieved data from PubMed and Medline using appropriate keywords. Statistical analysis ...was carried out using Mann-Whitney U test. A total of 83 articles were selected for the analysis between 1994 and 2019. Articles were retracted after a median of 1 year (IQR 4.0), and 55 (66.3%) articles were published in the year 2010 or after.
Forty-eight (57.8%) articles were original articles. The most common subspecialties involved were basic science (51.8%), followed by vitreoretinal diseases (13.3%) and cornea and external diseases (7.1%). Fraudulent data were the cause of retraction in 22 (26.5%) articles, and 14 articles (16.87%) were retracted because of plagiarism. Thirteen articles (15.7%) were retracted due to errors in the data calculations, and ten (12.04%) were found to be duplicate submissions of previously published articles by the same author, while five articles (6.02%) had authorship disputes. Thirty-nine (46.9%) retracted articles were published in a journal with an impact factor greater than 2. The median number of citations received by the retracted articles was 2.0 (IQR 9.0).
We conclude that the number of retractions in the ophthalmic literature have increased since 2010, though relatively limited information is available on the retracted articles. There is a need to strictly follow the current guidelines for providing the reasons for retraction and displaying retraction notices both in PubMed and on the journal websites.

Purpose: To describe a case of presumed tuberculous sclerokeratitis which presented with anterior uveitis and hypopyon
Methods: A retrospective chart review
Results: A 23-year-old female presented ...with nodular scleritis, peripheral corneal opacities, and severe anterior chamber reaction with hypopyon. Her Mantoux test and interferon gamma release assay were positive and high-resolution computerized tomography of chest revealed right hilar lymphadenopathy. Aqueous aspirate from anterior chamber paracentesis of her right eye was negative for Mycobacterium tuberculosis genome. She responded to antitubercular treatment and oral corticosteroid
Conclusions: Tuberculous sclerokeratitis can rarely present with hypopyon and pose a challenge in diagnosis for the clinicians

Prolonged hospitalization exposes the patient to various multiresistant bacteria making them prone to various secondary infections. This case series describes four cases of presumed fungal endogenous endophthalmitis in patients who recovered from COVID-19.
