Quaternary continental deposits record spatio-temporal changes of the landscape and offer insights for drainage network analysis and paleoenvironmental reconstructions. This paper focuses on the ...Turano River, a left tributary of the Velino River, which flows in the southwestern Abruzzo area at the boundary with Lazio Region. Its basin preserves lithological and morphological field evidence particularly suitable for reconstructing the long-term geomorphological evolution of the Central Apennines and the drainage network development. In detail, the Turano River was investigated through a drainage basin-scale analysis incorporating morphometric analysis, field mapping, continental deposits analysis, and integrated drainage network analysis. This approach allowed us to define a drainage network reversal process, clearly highlighted by the spatial arrangement of continental deposits, spanning from Upper Pliocene to Holocene. The results also indicated tectonic activity as the main factor driving incision and river inversion processes. The work contributes to identifying and describing the main steps of the Quaternary landscape evolution of this mountainous catchment and its morphoneotectonic framework. Therefore, it could represent a methodological tool for multidisciplinary studies in similar mountainous catchments to support any territorial planning activity, from large infrastructure localization (i.e., artificial dams) to sustainable land management.
► The periodic activity of 103P/Hartley 2 was analyzed using ground-based imaging. ► Grains are emitted by the nucleus preferentially along two separate directions. ► The grains have a relatively ...slow projected velocity, of the order of 20ms−1. ► They vanish with a lifetime of the order of 5h, suggesting they sublimate away.
Comet 103P/Hartley 2 was observed on November 1–6, 2010, coinciding with the fly-by of the space probe EPOXI. The goal was to connect the large scale phenomena observed from the ground, with those at small scale observed from the spacecraft. The comet showed strong activity correlated with the rotation of its nucleus, also observed by the spacecraft. We report here the characterization of the solid component produced by this activity, via observations of the emission in two spectral regions where only grain scattering of the solar radiation is present. We show that the grains produced by this activity had a lifetime of the order of 5h, compatible with the spacecraft observations of the large icy chunks. Moreover, the grains produced by one of the active regions have a very red color. This suggests an organic component mixed with the ice in the grains.

Projekt je razvio inovativna rješenja za proizvodnju hormone free kozjeg mlijeka tijekom cijele godine. FLOCK-REPROD (Hormone free non-seasonal or seasonal goat reproduction for a sustainable ...European goat-milk market), uz potporu 7. okvirnog programa, iznosi nehormonska rješenja koja omogućuju kontrolu sezonosti uz primjenu umjetnog osjemenjivanja (UO). Na taj način FLOCK-REPROD pomaže uzgajivačima proizvesti više mlijeka i osigurava alternativni put koji je u skladu sa zakonskom regulativom EU koja ograničava uporabu hormona. Razvijeni su novi progestagen free UO protokoli (PG1, PG1, HF) koji uključuju postupke temeljene na učinku mužjaka i svjetlosnim režimima u svrhu indukcije i sinkronizacije ovulacije tijekom cijele godine. PG1 i PG2 temelje se na jednoj ili dvije injekcije prostaglandina (nisu podvrgnute rezidualnim ograničenjima). HF protokol je hormone free te može biti primijenjen i na organskim uzgojima. Novi protokoli UO testirani su u terenskim uvjetima. Najbolji su rezultati dobiveni s HF (58 % gravidnosti, slično klasičnom hormonskom protokolu HT), a zatim s PG2 (54 %) te PG1 (45 %). Osnovni problem za implementaciju protokola PG1 i HF jest visoka varijabilnost plodnosti među farmama. Novi protokoli UO manje su učinkoviti glede utrošenih radnih sati i ulaznih troškova u usporedbi s HT. PG1 je protokol koji zahtijeva najveći utrošak vremena, a nakon njega to su HF i PG2. HF se pokazao najskupljim protokolom, dok je PG2 jeftiniji od PG1. Veći radni angažman i viši troškovi koje stvaraju novi UO protokoli nastaju najviše zbog potrebe za dodatnim brojem jarčeva nužnih za provođenje utjecaja mužjaka (veći troškovi hranidbe, utrošak vremena za baratanje mužjacima).
