Aloe vera‐derived graphene (ADG) coupled system photocatalyst, mimicking natural photosynthesis, is one of the most promising ways for converting solar energy into ammonia (NH3) and nicotinamide ...adenine dinucleotide (NADH) that have been widely used to make the numerous chemicals such as fertilizer and fuel. In this study, we report the synthesis of the aloe vera‐derived graphene‐coupled phenosafranin (ADGCP) acting as a highly efficient photocatalyst for the generation of NH3 and regeneration of NADH from nitrogen (N2) and oxidized form of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+). The results show a benchmark instance for mimicking natural photosynthesis activity as well as the practical applications for the solar‐driven selective formation of NH3 and the regeneration of NADH by using the newly designed photocatalyst.
In this study, the utilization of solar light irradiation enables the generation and regeneration of ammonia and NADH using an aloe vera‐derived graphene‐coupled phenosafranin (ADGCP) photocatalyst. The results show the remarkable efficiency and environmental friendly nature of the ADGCP system, offering the promising way to solve worldwide issues related to sustainable chemical synthesis and energy production.
•Easy to make graphene-based visible light active photocatalyst (NenG-RhB) via condensation.•The NenG-RhB photocatalyst appears to be a noteworthy development, demonstrating its efficiency in the ...degradation of industrial orange g in the presence of solar light as well as the oxidative cyclization of aromatic thioamide.•Its potential for useful applications in solar-driven catalysis and environmental remediation is shown by the remarkable degradation efficiency of 97.29 % for the industrial dye and a high conversion rate of 92.5 % for the cyclization. This may open the door to more eco-friendly and productive procedures across a range of sectors.
Functionalized photocatalysts have shown to be an effective method for oxidative cyclization processes and the degradation of organic poisons like chemicals and dyes. In this study, we report the facile, environmentally friendly, room-temperature (RT) synthesis and development of a graphene-based visible light active photocatalyst (NenG-RhB) which is thermodynamically converted to nitrogen-enriched graphene (NenG) covalently bonded to a light-harvesting RhB molecule 9-(2-Carboxyphenyl)-6-(diethylamino)-N, N‑diethyl-3H-xanthen-3-iminium chloride). The NenG-RhB photocatalyst is extremely effective, resulting in good oxidative cyclization of aromatic thioamide (92.5 %) and degradation efficiency of industrial orange G (97.29 %) under solar light. The current research focuses on the invention and implementation of a nitrogen-enrich graphene-based photocatalyst for direct solar medicinal chemical synthesis and industrial dye degradation in wastewater using solar light.
Hajdu-Cheney Syndrome (HSC) is a rare multisystem disease in which the phenotype involves acro-osteolysis, severe osteoporosis, short stature, wormian bones, facial dysmorphism, central neurological ...abnormalities, cardiovascular defects, and polycystic kidneys. We describe an infant with severe manifestations of HCS in whom congenital glaucoma was a significant early feature, which has not been reported to date. HCS cases reported to date have involved truncating mutations in exon 34 of NOTCH2 upstream the PEST domain that lead to the development of a truncated and stable NOTCH2 protein which upregluates notch signaling. We describe a hitherto undescribed missense mutation that is predicted to be pathogenic, with functional characterization remaining to be performed. Serpentine fibula-polycystic kidney syndrome (SFPKS) is allelic to HCS and commonly associated with missense NOTCH2 mutations. Our patient provides new ophthalmological manifestations of HCS and provides insight into the potential role of notch signaling in the anterior chamber development.

Anophthalmia (no eye), microphthalmia (small eye) and associated ocular developmental anomalies cause significant visual handicap. In most cases the underlying genetic cause is unknown, but mutations ...in some genes, such as SOX2, cause ocular developmental defects, particularly anophthalmia, in a subset of patients. Here, we describe a four-generation family with a p.Asp123Gly mutation in the highly conserved partner-factor interaction region of the SOX2 protein, which is important for cell-specific actions of SOX2. The proband in this family has bilateral anophthalmia and several other family members have milder ocular phenotypes, including typical optic fissure coloboma. Expression studies indicate that Sox2 is expressed in the eye at the site of closure of the optic fissure during development. The SOX2 mutation in this family implicates the partner-factor interaction region of SOX2 in contributing to the specificity of SOX2 action in optic fissure closure. Our findings indicate that investigation of SOX2 in a broad range of eye anomaly patients aids in the determination of particular functions of SOX2 in development.
Submicron-sized particles of tin oxide (SnO x ) were prepared via a high-temperature synthesis from the combination of zerovalent tin and tin oxide (SnO) in an inert carrier gas. The size, nature, ...and relative product yields of the structures produced are dependent upon the synthesis temperature and the ratio of metal/metal oxide in the starting materials. It is suggested that the surface oxidation states of these nanoparticles vary with the ratio of tin to tin oxide and the synthesis temperature so that the product ratio of SnO to SnO2 and the reactivity of these particles with the phenol hydroxylation reaction could be adjusted. An apparent higher reactivity per unit surface area is observed for the larger submicron particles.
Interfacing of disparate simulation programs is increasingly undertaken to gain a deeper understanding of their functionality and exploit their merits for modeling complex systems. In this paper, ...techniques for interfacing field and circuit equations of low-frequency electromagnetic apparatus are reviewed, analyzed, and classified into two main categories of direct and indirect methods according to the coupling method. Each category includes a vast array of techniques employing different methods for circuit modeling. The field analysis is restricted to 2-D finite-element method, which is a widely used numerical technique for modeling magnetic behavior of power apparatus. The main features and problems associated with each technique are summarized. Methods for coupling of mechanical equations are addressed in a separate section. A comprehensive list of references is also included at the end of this paper to provide further information to the readers.
This is an introductory paper on z-transform-based methods for electromagnetic transient simulations of power systems. Since the theory of the z-transform was originally developed for the analysis of ...time series data defined at equidistant time steps, simulation models developed using z-transforms can readily be used in electromagnetic transient simulations based on the same time step. First, this paper briefly introduces the basics of the z-transform, and then applications to electromagnetic transient simulations of power systems are reviewed.
Silica nanospheres have been produced by a novel technique where surface Si oxidation states can be adjusted using the ratio of metalloid ions/metalloid atoms in the starting mixture. When the ...proportions of Si4+/Si0 are equal in the synthesis, the resulting solid is considerably more reactive than Cab-O-Sil toward the phenol hydroxylation reaction and the surface shows an average Si oxidation state of +3. On the other hand, those silica nanospheres, produced from a mixture of Si4+/Si0 = 0.25, showed a lower reactivity comparable to that of Cab-O-Sil which XPS demonstrates has a surprisingly low average Si oxidation state close to +1. We speculate that the silicon surface oxidation state and the number of surface silanol groups play important roles in determining the activity of the solid toward the phenol hydroxylation reaction. In expanding our earlier report4 on the copper-silica system, we establish that the surface chemistry of the silica nanospheres is apparently different from that of fumed, amorphous silica. These results suggest that we are developing a technique that can be generalized to create supported, mixed metal oxides having tunable average surface oxidation states.
