Processing of wood and manufacture of wood and cork products, excluding furniture, manufacture of straw and plaiting goods (C16) and manufacture of furniture (C31) were the most competitive ...activities of the Republic of Croatia in the European market in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Those activities began losing their market share at the end of 1994, and no significant positive change in market competitiveness has been recorded since then. The question is how to achieve and maintain competitiveness, which is the condition of survival in an increasingly demanding environment. Preliminary and previous research on investments points to the assumption that the problem of competitiveness in the observed economic branch essentially boils down to a problem in the quality and efficiency of the investments of associated business entities. This paper tries to give answers to the following questions: What is the investment policy, is there an internal factor for lagging behind in competitiveness, what the other reasons are and how competitiveness can be achieved. By analyzing the investment in key factors of competitiveness in the period 2007 to 2010, consistently established by this paper, the existing data on investment of wood processing and furniture manufacturing entities will be identified, and an AHP investment model will be proposed that takes into account the simultaneous influence of all of the key factors of competitiveness and is the best indicator of the direction to be taken, with the final aim of achieving competitiveness.
Prerada drva i proizvoda od drva i pluta, osim namještaja; proizvodnja proizvoda od slame i pletarskih materijala (C16) i proizvodnja namještaja (C31) Republike Hrvatske u kasnim 1980-ima i ranim ...1990-im godinama bili su konkurentna aktivnost na europskom tržištu. Nakon 1994. godine te djelatnosti počinju gubiti svoje tržišne udjele i do danas nije zabilježena znatnija pozitivna promjena tržišne konkurentnosti. Postavlja se pitanje kako ostvariti i održati konkurentnost, što je uvjet opstanka u sve zahtjevnijem okruženju. Preliminarna i prethodna istraživanja investicijske aktivnosti upućuju na pretpostavku da se problem konkurentnosti promatranoga gospodarstva u osnovi svodi na problem kvalitete i učinkovitosti investicijskih ulaganja pripadajućih gospodarskih subjekata. Kakva je investicijska politika i je li ona unutarnji čimbenik zaostajanja u konkurentnosti, koji su drugi razlozi i kako postići konkurentnost, pitanja su na koja odgovor daje ovaj rad. Analizom ulaganja u ključne čimbenike konkurentnosti u razdoblju od 2007. do 2010. godine, konzistentno utvrđene ovim radom, identificirat će se postojeći model investicijskih ulaganja gospodarskih subjekata prerade drva i proizvodnje namještaja te predložiti AHP model investicijskih ulaganja koji uzima u obzir istodobni utjecaj svih ključnih čimbenika konkurentnosti i najbolji je pokazatelj u kojem smjeru treba krenuti radi postizanja konačnog cilja – osiguranja konkurentnosti.
This paper analyzes motivation factors in wood processing and furniture manufacturing companies in the Republic of Croatia. Research was conducted during 2006 using the method of survey. In three ...survey questionnaires a total of 58 questions were asked. Questionnaire A consisted of 22 questions regarding the importance of particular motivation factors at work, questionnaire B consisted of 22 questions regarding the satisfaction of employees at work, while questionnaire C consisted of questions regarding relationships among employees in the work environment. A total of 800 production workers and 60 management and administrative employees were surveyed in 3 companies of wood processing and furniture manufacturing. Production workers found good social conditions,employment assurance and work time organization to be the most important factors, while for management and administrative employees the most important factors were good company reputation, good internal relationships and employment assurance. Production workers were satisfied with employment assurance, job organization and workplace activity, while management and administrative employees were satisfied with employment assurance,superiors and good company name. Both, production workers and management were most displeased with their salaries and with possibilities to increase these salaries. Production results are highly dependable on motivation factors, so this kind of research is necessary if wood processing and furniture manufacturing companies want to increase the production results and competitive strength in the international market.
The paper presents the structure of revenue and employment in crafts and freelance businesses in timber and timber products processing (DD20) and furniture manufacture (DN36) of the Republic of ...Croatia. The data refer to the period from 2002 to 2006 and are presented separately for each county and for the state as a whole. The overall results are juxtaposed in relation to the revenue of the companies in these industrial branches. Trends in the number of registered companies, as well as crafts and freelance businesses are also presented. According to the research results, there was a significant decrease in the revenue of crafts and freelance businesses in the monitored industrial branches in the last year. There was also a falling trend in the total number of craftsmen engaged in wood products and furniture manufacture in the last year of investigation. Despite this, total revenue and employment values in timber processing and furniture manufacture show a rising trend during the monitored years.

Koncepcijama je zajedničko da se na temelju sposobnosti razumijevanja, zaključivanja, učenja, primjene znanja i informacijskih tehnologija, opažanja i prepoznavanja događaja i objekata mogu koristiti u smislu savjetodavne inteligentne potpore procesima odlučivanja i upravljanja. Ona mora davati suvisle odgovore te rješavati situacije uopsegu u kojemu smo je opskrbili znanjem o proizvodnji i poslovanju tvrtke za preradu drva i proizvodnju namještaja. Takvo savjetodavno svojstvo prikazanih koncepcija čvrst je oslonac u okolini koja zbunjuje.

This ...article develops a model for stock management in a hypothetical woodprocessing company, where part of production is intended foran unknown customer. We designed a model for periodical monitoring of product group stock by using simple exponent regulation and ordering up to the target stock. The adjusted quantities of sales budget are launched into production with the help of a multi-criteria decision-making model. The designed model enables an optimum level of intermediate product stock, unfinished production and the final product stock. Flowchart technique is used for showingthe reshaped process of presenting the sales budget and ordering of materials.

Diversity of attitudes and opinions, different lifestyles, and human globalization offer to the modern man wide possibilities of individual selection. The market provides numerous innovations in the ...context of existing global and local contents, which do not appear in the form of trends but rather as new values and attitudes. Due to the competition of the same type of shops that mostly offer the same or similar goods at approximately the same price, factors such as the shop layout and sales staff are increasingly influencing the choice of point of sale and purchase. This paper presents how the customers/consumers assessed the place for buying furniture. The research was carried out by a questionnaire survey in four sales centers. The collected data were analyzed statistically using chi square--test. The results showed that customers were satisfied with the location, range of products and with information about products received by the staff in sales centers. They were somewhat less satisfied with the treatment of sales center staff and appearance of sales centers. They expressed the least satisfaction with the price and payment conditions. Key words: furniture, shops, customer satisfaction, chi square--test Razlicitosti stajalista i misljenja, nacin zivota i globalizacija covjecanstva usmjerili su suvremenog covjeka na siroke mogucnosti individualnog odabira. Na trzistu se nude brojni noviteti u kontekstu postojecih globalnih, ali i lokalnih sadrzaja, koji se ocituju ne vise kao trendovi, vec kao nove vrijednosti i shvacanja. Zbog konkurencije istog tipa prodavaonica koje pretezno nude slicne ili iste proizvode, uz priblizno jednake cijene, cimbenici kao sto su izgled prodavaonice i prodajno osoblje sve vise utjecu na izbor prodajnog mjesta i kupnju. U radu je prikazano kako su kupci/korisnici ocijenili mjesto na kojem kupuju namjestaj. Istrazivanje je provedeno putem anketnog upitnika u cetiri prodajna centra. Dobiveni su podaci usporeceni i statisticki obraceni primjenom chi square--testa. Rezultati anketnog upitnika pokazali su da su kupci zadovoljni lokacijom, izborom proizvoda i informacijama o asortimanu proizvoda koje dobivaju od osoblja u prodajnim centrima. Manje su zadovoljni odnosom prodajnog osoblja i izgledom prodajnog mjesta. Najmanje zadovoljstvo iskazali su cijenom i uvjetima placanja.
