We report on a search for elementary particles with charges much smaller than the electron charge using a data sample of proton-proton collisions provided by the CERN Large Hadron Collider in 2018, ...corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 37.5 fb−1 at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. A prototype scintillator-based detector is deployed to conduct the first search at a hadron collider sensitive to particles with charges ≤ 0.1 e . The existence of new particles with masses between 20 and 4700 MeV is excluded at 95% confidence level for charges between 0.006 e and 0.3 e , depending on their mass. Introduction
COVID-19 is a multifaceted disease establishing differences in terms of its occurrence, manner of clinical presentation and disease predilection. While mental health becomes one of the ...less analyzed aspects, addressing anxiety and depression allows clinicians to provide more patient-centered care in this pandemic era.
Objectives
This study determined the prevalence of anxiety and depressive symptoms among patients admitted for at least 14 days at COVID wards of East Avenue Medical using the validated Filipino version of the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS-P), and described the socioeconomic, psychosocial, clinical factors affecting its development among COVID-19 patients.
Methods
232 patients admitted at COVID ward of East Avenue Medical Center for at least 14 days were included in the study. Participants were interviewed using the validated Filipino version of the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Score (HADS-P) questionnaire. STATA 13.1 was used for data analysis at 95% confidence interval
Results
Anxiety was significantly correlated with hypertension (p= 0.044), diabetes (p= 0.008), employment status (p= 0.038), and with patients who had family members with COVID- 19 (p= 0.033). Depressive symptoms occurred more likely in Chronic Kidney Disease and in COVID-19 suspects. Most participants had a normal HADS-P anxiety (6) and depression (4) median scores. Mild symptoms of anxiety (n=55) and depression (n=30) were noted among participants. The severity of COVID-19 classification was a statistically significant variable for developing anxiety symptoms.
Conclusions
Identifying predictors of developing anxiety and depressive symptoms enables us to develop better strategies in addressing mental health as one of the important aspects of patient management during this pandemic.

This grounded study examined the process of acclimatisation or the process of changing perspectives of a person so as to get used to or feel 'at home' among a selected group of Filipino elderly in a ...nursing care facility. As institutionalisation of the elderly is not typical in the Philippine context, varied responses were analysed to understand the factors and the course in which an elderly undergoes over a set period of time upon acclimatisation. Twenty elderly residents were purposively recruited and subjected through an in-depth interview that chronicles their experiences on their previous and present lives and on the process in which they are able to adjust in a relatively new setting. Arobotfoto was devised to obtain demographic data including visitation frequencies and familial relationships, followed by an in-depth interview. Through constant comparison method, a model called the 'Hourglass of Acclimatisation' was emerged. The said model yielded two distinct phases contributing to the successful acclimatisation. These included the Conversion phase, or imbibing the main notion of transforming one's perspectives of himself and his environment and the Immersion phase, which describes how an elderly involves himself completely into the life he/she is supposed to live. This emerged model can contribute to the development of nursing interventions focusing on elderly experiences in the entire course of relocation to a new environment other than what they call 'home'.
While adherence to medication remains a problematic area in the care of chronically ill elderly, an extended model that incorporates the interaction of studied variables remains a blankspot. Anchored ...on Ajzen's Theory of Planned Behavior, this paper purported to develop and test a model of medication adherence among Filipino elderly relative to their medication belief, follow-up visits, consultation satisfaction, memory task, trust with physician, perceived stress, memory strategies, social support, memory load, depression, length of time taking the medication, number of conditions, and self-efficacy with medication adherence. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed to study causalities among all parameters. With the participation of 325 older adults located in District IV, Sampaloc, Manila, data needed were gathered through a multi-aspect questionnaire consisting of a robotfoto, memory strategy usage measure, 8-scale Morisky Medication Adherence Scale, 15-item Geriatric Depression Scale, General Self-efficacy Scale, Consultation Satisfaction Questionnaire, and Perceived Stress Scale. Data were analysed using AMOS version 19. Results revealed that depression, trust with physician, and number of conditions affect adherence positively while event-based memory, consultation satisfaction, memory load, and external memory strategy affect otherwise. Some suggested variables were found to have no impact at all. As this study reveals, careful consideration should be given to multiple factors and their interrelationship should be examined well. Since many factors can influence medication adherence behavior and the reasons of their noncompliance are also varied, multifaceted solutions must be developed.

We describe noncovalent, reversible asparagine ethylenediamine (AsnEDA) inhibitors of the Plasmodium falciparum proteasome (Pf20S) β5 subunit that spare all active subunits of human constitutive and ...immuno-proteasomes. The compounds are active against erythrocytic, sexual, and liver-stage parasites, against parasites resistant to current antimalarials, and against P. falciparum strains from patients in Africa. The β5 inhibitors synergize with a β2 inhibitor in vitro and in mice and with artemisinin. P. falciparum selected for resistance to an AsnEDA β5 inhibitor surprisingly harbored a point mutation in the noncatalytic β6 subunit. The β6 mutant was resistant to the species-selective Pf20S β5 inhibitor but remained sensitive to the species-nonselective β5 inhibitors bortezomib and carfilzomib. Moreover, resistance to the Pf20S β5 inhibitor was accompanied by increased sensitivity to a Pf20S β2 inhibitor. Finally, the β5 inhibitor-resistant mutant had a fitness cost that was exacerbated by irradiation. Thus, used in combination, multistageactive inhibitors of the Pf20S β5 and β2 subunits afford synergistic antimalarial activity with a potential to delay the emergence of resistance to artemisinins and each other.
