The optical properties of a thin-shell wormhole (TSW) with a Hayward profile is investigated. Adopting the ray-tracing method, we demonstrate that the TSW’s contralateral spacetime is capable of ...reflecting a significant portion of light back to the observer spacetime. We analyze the effective potential, light deflection, and azimuthal angle of the TSW and find that these quantities are affected by the mass ratio of the black holes (BHs). Specifically, if the mass of the contralateral spacetime BH is greater than that of the original spacetime BH, and the impact parameter satisfies the condition

, the trajectory of the photon exhibits round-trip characteristics. Assuming the presence of a thin accretion disk surrounding the observing spacetime BH, our results indicate that the image formed by the TSW exhibits additional photon rings and a lensing band compared to an image produced by a BH alone.
Erianin is a small‐molecule compound that is isolated from Dendrobium chrysotoxum Lindl. In recent years, it has been found to have evident antitumor activity in various cancers, such as bladder ...cancer, cervical cancer, and nasopharyngeal carcinoma. In this study, we assessed the effect of erianin on lung cancer in terms of cell growth inhibition and the related mechanism. First, erianin at a concentration of less than 1 nmol/L exhibited cytotoxicity in H1975, A549, LLC lung cancer cells, did not cause marked growth inhibition in normal lung and kidney cells, induced obvious apoptosis and G2/M phase arrest of cells, and inhibited the migration and invasion of lung cancer cells in vitro. Second, in a mouse xenograft model of lewis lung cancer (LLC), oral administration of erianin (50, 35, and 10 mg kg−1 day−1 for 12 days) substantially inhibited nodule growth, reduced the fluorescence counts of lewis cells and the percentage vascularity of tumor tissues, increased the number of apoptotic tumor cells, the thymus indices, up‐regulated the levels of interleukin (IL)‐2 and tumor necrosis factor‐α (TNF‐α), decreased IL‐10 levels and the spleen index, and enhanced immune function. Lastly, the possible targets of erianin were determined by molecular docking and verified via western blot assay. The results indicated that erianin may achieve the above effects via inhibiting the phosphoinositide 3‐kinase (PI3K)/Akt/mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway in vitro and vivo. Taken together, the results showed that erianin had obvious antitumor effects via inhibiting the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway in vitro and vivo and may have potential clinical value for the treatment of lung cancer.
•Studies on adsorption removal of cesium from water are reviewed.•Minerals, biosorbents, and synthesized composites were used as adsorbents.•Demonstration tests were reported to highlight the points ...raised.•Feasibility of using Prussian blue (PB) for large scale application is discussed.
Radiocesium (Cs) removal from waters becomes an emerging issue after the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant Disaster, during which a total of approximately 3.3×1016Bq Cs was released to contaminate the environment. This mini-review provided a summary on literature works to develop efficient adsorbent for removing Cs from waters. Adsorbent made of raw and modified minerals, composites particles, and biosorbents that are highly specific to Cs in the presence of other alkali and alkali earth metals were summarized. Development of Prussian blue (PB) nanoparticles on Cs removal and its potential use in drinking waterworks was discussed. This review is a unique report for adsorption removal of Cs from contaminated waters.
In a recent paper, McDiarmid, Semple, and Welsh (2015) showed that the number of tree-child networks with n leaves has the factor n2n in its main asymptotic growth term. In this paper, we improve ...this by completely identifying the main asymptotic growth term up to a constant. More precisely, we show that the number of tree-child networks with n leaves grows like Θn−2∕3ea1(3n)1∕312e2nn2n,where a1=−2.338107410⋯ is the largest root of the Airy function of the first kind. For the proof, we bijectively map the underlying graph-theoretical problem onto a problem on words. For the latter, we can find a recurrence to which a recent powerful asymptotic method of Elvey Price, Fang, and Wallner (2019) can be applied.
