The perfect absorption of electromagnetic waves has promoted many applications, including photovoltaics, radar cloaking, and molecular detection. Unlike conventional methods of critical coupling that ...require asymmetric boundaries or coherent perfect absorption that require multiple coherent incident beams, here we demonstrate single-beam perfect absorption in an on-chip cavity magnonic device without breaking its boundary symmetry. By exploiting magnon-mediated interference between two internal channels, both reflection and transmission of our device can be suppressed to zero, resulting in magnon-induced nearly perfect absorption (MIPA). Such interference can be tuned by the strength and direction of an external magnetic field, thus showing versatile controllability. Furthermore, the same multi-channel interference responsible for MIPA also produces level attraction (LA)-like hybridization between a cavity magnon polariton mode and a cavity photon mode, demonstrating that LA-like hybridization can be surprisingly realized in a coherently coupled system.
Morbidity and mortality from tuberculosis (TB) are high in Taiwan. We conducted a nationwide population‐based matched cohort study using data retrieved from the Taiwan's National Health Insurance ...Research Database to determine the impact of TB after liver transplantation (LT). During 2000–2011, we identified 3202 liver transplant recipients and selected subjects from the general population matched for age, sex, and comorbidities on the same index date of recognition of LT with a 1:10 ratio. The data were analyzed using Cox proportional hazards models. Compared to the matched cohort, liver transplant patients had a higher risk for TB (adjusted HR 2.25, 95% CI 1.65–3.05, p < 0.001), and those with TB showed higher mortality (HR 2.27, 95% CI 1.30–3.97, p = 0.004). Old age (HR 2.64, 95% CI 1.25–5.54, p = 0.011) and mammalian target of rapamycin inhibitors (mTORis) (HR 3.09, 95% CI 1.68–5.69, p < 0.001) were significant risk factors for TB in LT; mTORis were also associated with mortality after adjusting for confounders (HR 2.13, 95% CI 1.73–2.62, p < 0.001). Therefore, regular surveillance of TB and treatment of latent TB infection in high‐risk patients after LT are important, especially in TB‐endemic areas.
The authors demonstrate the high risk of tuberculosis in liver transplant recipients and define old age and mammalian target of rapamycin inhibitors as risk factors for tuberculosis after liver transplantation, which provides a practical guide to selecting high‐risk liver transplant patients for regular surveillance and treatment of tuberculosis.

The risk factors for gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB) in clopidogrel users have not been identified.
Aim
To clarify whether clopidogrel use is a risk factor for upper GIB (UGIB) and ...lower GIB (LGIB) and identify the risk factors in clopidogrel users.
Methods
Using the National Health Insurance Research Database of Taiwan, 3238 clopidogrel users and 12 952 age‐, sex‐, and enrolment time‐matched controls in a 1:4 ratio were extracted for comparison from a cohort dataset of 1 000 000 randomly sampled subjects. Cox proportional hazard regression models were used to identify the independent risk factors for UGIB and LGIB in all enrollees and clopidogrel users after adjustments for age, gender, comorbidity i.e., coronary artery disease, hypertension, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chronic kidney disease (CKD), cirrhosis, uncomplicated peptic ulcer disease, and peptic ulcer bleeding (PUB), and medications e.g., nonsteroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), cyclooxygenase‐2 inhibitors, aspirin, steroids, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), warfarin and alendronate.
Results
Cox proportional hazard regression analysis showed that use of clopidogrel increased the risk of UGIB hazard ratio (HR): 3.66; 95% confidence interval (CI): 2.96–4.51 and LGIB HR: 3.52, 95% CI: 2.74–4.52. Age, CKD, PUB history, use of aspirin and NSAIDs were independent risk factors for UGIB in the clopidogrel users. Age, CKD, PUB history, use of aspirin and SSRIs were independent risk factors for LGIB.
Conclusions
In clopidogrel users, age, CKD, PUB history, use of aspirin and NSAIDs are independent risk factors for UGIB; age, CKD, PUB history, use of aspirin and SSRIs are independent risk factors for LGIB.
Autotrophic nitrogen removal in the main stream appears as a prerequisite for the implementation of energy autarchic wastewater treatment plants. To investigate autotrophic nitrogen removal a ...lab-scale gas-lift sequencing batch reactor with granular sludge was operated for more than 500 days. The reactor was operated at temperatures between 20 and 10 °C on autotrophic medium with ammonium (60 and 160 mg-N L−1) as only nitrogen compound at an HRT of 0.23–0.3 d. The dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration was shown to be an effective control parameter for the suppression of the undesired nitratation process. DO control guaranteed the effective suppression of the nitratation both at 20 and 15 °C, allowing nitrogen removal rates of 0.4 g-NTot L−1 d−1 at nitrogen removal efficiencies of 85-75%. Prolonged operation at 10 °C caused a slow but unrestrainable decrease in anammox activity and process efficiency. This study represents a proof of concept for the application of the autotrophic nitrogen removal in a single reactor with granular sludge at main stream conditions.

This study aims to assess the nephrotoxicity and efficacy of tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (tenofovir), telbivudine and entecavir. A retrospective study of 587 patients with chronic hepatitis B ...treated with tenofovir (n = 170), telbivudine (n = 184) and entecavir (n = 233) for at least 1 year. Renal function and efficacy were assessed. The estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) decreased significantly in the tenofovir group after a mean of 17 months treatment (from 92.2 to 85.6 mL/min/1.73 m2, p < 0.001), but increased in the telbivudine group after a mean of 32 months of treatment (from 86.1 to 95 mL/min/1.73 m2, p < 0.001). There was no significant change in eGFR in the entecavir group after a mean of 44 months. By multivariate analysis, pre-existing renal insufficiency (p = 0.003), tenofovir (p = 0.007) and diuretic treatment (p = 0.001) were independent predictors for renal function deterioration. Cumulative virological breakthrough was 0% in tenofovir after 2 years, 3.4% in entecavir after 7 years and 22.9% in telbivudine after 5 years. Liver cirrhosis (p = 0.008) and virological breakthrough (p = 0.040) were independently associated with increased risk of hepatocellular carcinoma development. Tenofovir may lead to deterioration in renal function as assessed by serial eGFR measurements. Although telbivudine appeared to be associated with an improvement in eGFR, it was associated with high rates of virological breakthrough, which was an independent risk factor for HCC development. With low rates of virological breakthrough and preservation of renal function, entecavir could be the best choice among these three agents.
We develop a method for universally resolving the important issue of separating spin pumping from spin rectification signals in bilayer spintronics devices. This method is based on the characteristic ...distinction of spin pumping and spin rectification, as revealed in their different angular and field symmetries. It applies generally for analyzing charge voltages in bilayers induced by the ferromagnetic resonance (FMR), independent of FMR line shape. Hence, it solves the outstanding problem that device-specific microwave properties restrict the universal quantification of the spin Hall angle in bilayer devices via FMR experiments. Furthermore, it paves the way for directly measuring the nonlinear evolution of spin current generated by spin pumping. The spin Hall angle in a Py/Pt bilayer is thereby directly measured as 0.021±0.015 up to a large precession cone angle of about 20°.
By developing a gain-embedded cavity magnonics platform, we create a gain-driven polariton (GDP) that is activated by an amplified electromagnetic field. Distinct effects of gain-driven light-matter ...interaction, such as polariton auto-oscillations, polariton phase singularity, self-selection of a polariton bright mode, and gain-induced magnon-photon synchronization, are theoretically studied and experimentally manifested. Utilizing the gain-sustained photon coherence of the GDP, we demonstrate polariton-based coherent microwave amplification (∼40 dB) and achieve high-quality coherent microwave emission (Q>10^{9}).
The treatment gap between the number of people with mental disorders and the number treated represents a major public health challenge. We examine this gap by socio-economic status (SES; indicated by ...family income and respondent education) and service sector in a cross-national analysis of community epidemiological survey data.
Data come from 16 753 respondents with 12-month DSM-IV disorders from community surveys in 25 countries in the WHO World Mental Health Survey Initiative. DSM-IV anxiety, mood, or substance disorders and treatment of these disorders were assessed with the WHO Composite International Diagnostic Interview (CIDI).
Only 13.7% of 12-month DSM-IV/CIDI cases in lower-middle-income countries, 22.0% in upper-middle-income countries, and 36.8% in high-income countries received treatment. Highest-SES respondents were somewhat more likely to receive treatment, but this was true mostly for specialty mental health treatment, where the association was positive with education (highest treatment among respondents with the highest education and a weak association of education with treatment among other respondents) but non-monotonic with income (somewhat lower treatment rates among middle-income respondents and equivalent among those with high and low incomes).
The modest, but nonetheless stronger, an association of education than income with treatment raises questions about a financial barriers interpretation of the inverse association of SES with treatment, although future within-country analyses that consider contextual factors might document other important specifications. While beyond the scope of this report, such an expanded analysis could have important implications for designing interventions aimed at increasing mental disorder treatment among socio-economically disadvantaged people.
