The trade relation among countries does not necessarily benefit all members, in that case it so common for issue to arise that often turns to be dispute. Interestingly, the role of WTO somehow does ...not fulfill the gap, sometimes it is necessary to add additional mechanism to resolve the dispute. At the end the result can be obtained by the members. This research focuses on the diplomacy process between Indonesian and South Korea regarding the dumping issue on paper commodity. It should be noted that South Korea has not fully implemented the obligation after DSB Appellate Body’s decision on 2005 and 2007. As for the research question, this research comes out with “what is the strategy imposed by Indonesian government to settle the dispute on paper dumping?”. Trade diplomacy and linkage theory will be used as foundation to deepen the analysis.
This research examines training by Indonesia as a form of international assistance and cooperation in Africa. As a new emerging donor, Indonesia wants to assist other countries by formulating ...mutually beneficial relations among developing countries and gaining a positive image. Indonesia combines training in the form of MRLs and agricultural training in Africa to meet the interests of domestic actors. Domestic politics analysis can explain the role of domestic actors in Indonesia's progress in the international community. This research uses a qualitative explanatory case study method with secondary data from literature studies—furthermore, categorization with Nvivo and theoretical triangulation analysis based on domestic politics analysis and international cooperation and aid. This research found great potential in Africa, which can benefit Indonesia's politics. This training responds to domestic actors' interests and as an expansion effort to expand Indonesian products used globally.
This article aims to explain Indonesia's border diplomacy towards Malaysia regarding cross-border issues for the 2014-2020 period. In this case, there are often cases of disputes over territorial ...boundaries and social problems in border areas. To overcome this, Indonesia and Malaysia created the Malindo Social Security Cooperation (Sosek Malindo) and the Joint Indonesia Malaysia (JIM). This is following Indonesia's border diplomacy efforts which prove by the activities of annual meetings and sessions. The research method used a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach. The case analysis will explain the causes and effects of holding Indonesia-Malaysia border diplomacy based on secondary data. The author finds that various meetings and annual sessions of the two cooperation forums can resolve border disputes, illegal trade in goods and labor, and cross-border disputes related to the existence of Natural Resources. This research found that Indonesia-Malaysia border diplomacy in dealing with cross-border problems in 2014-2020 is carried out through the Malindo Social Security Cooperation (Sosek Malindo) and the Joint Indonesia Malaysia (JIM) cooperation. As a result, two segments of the national border were established at Simantipal River and Point C500-C600. Then in the case of PLBN development, Indonesia and Malaysia carried out border diplomacy through the Malindo Sosek Cooperation Forum in the form of the 35th and 37th meetings of KK/JKK Sosek Malindo and the 14th and 15th trials of Sekber KK/JKK Sosek Malindo.
Indonesia attempted to use its foreign policy to address domestic and international objectives in its relations with other nations. Due to Indonesia's success in the 1955 AAC and involvement in the ...1961 NAM, the country's administration used the SSTC mechanism to further local goals. Indonesia often offers Muslim Religious Leaders (MRLs) international reproductive health training to bring SSTC to African nations. Analysis of domestic politics and international aid used in this research. Using secondary data from literature studies, this research employs a qualitative explanatory case study methodology. In addition, triangulation analysis based on theory and Nvivo classification based on analysis of domestic politics and foreign aid are applied. This research found Indonesia tried to project itself as a nation that successfully and consistently implements and promotes family planning worldwide. However, various paradoxes exist in how Indonesian SSTC is implemented through MRLs activities. Indonesia has a high level of foreign debt, which goes against religious belief, and the notion that a large family is necessary for success is the opposite of the success of Indonesian SSTC.

Tujuan riset ini adalah menganalisa kebijakan Pemerintah Indonesia dan Pemerintah Provinsi Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY) dalam pengembangan wilayah pesisir menggunakan teori geopolitik dan teori kekuatan laut. Penelitian ini menerapkan metode kualitatif studi kasus. Data yang digunakan berupa data primer melalui wawancara dan data sekunder yang diperoleh dari buku, artikel jurnal dan publikasi daring. Penulis menemukan bahwa sinergitas penegak hukum, diplomasi maritim sudah cukup baik, namun perlu lebih aktif melibatkan masyarakat untuk pengelolaan sumber daya hayati yang berkelanjutan dan peningkatan SDM masyarakat pesisir. Sementara Visi Gubernur DIY bernama Abad Samudera Hindia belum terlaksana dengan maksimal. Masyarakat membutuhkan tambahan pembangunan TPI baru dan pengembangan TPI menjadi PPN dan PPS untuk meningkatkan produktivitas dan kesejahteraan nelayan. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemerintah pusat dan daerah harus selalu memperhatikan pengelolaan laut, khususnya untuk pemanfaatan sumber daya dan pangan. Bahwa laut memiliki kekayaan alam yang berlimpah dapat digunakan meningkatkan gizi masyarakat dan pendapatan negara. This research discusses the strategy of the Government of Indonesia to increase economic opportunities and overcome challenges through the World Maritime Fulcrum. This research aims to analyze the policies of the Government of Indonesia and the Provincial Government of DIY in developing coastal areas using geopolitical theory and the theory of sea power. This study uses a qualitative case study method. The data used are primary data through interviews and secondary data obtained from books, journal articles and online publications. The author finds that the synergism between law enforcement and maritime diplomacy is good enough. However, it is necessary to involve the community more actively in the sustainable management of biological resources and to increase the human resources of coastal communities. Meanwhile, the vision of the Governor of DIY called the Century of the Indian Ocean, has not been implemented optimally. The community needs additional construction of new TPI and development of TPI to become PPN and PPS to increase the productivity and welfare of fishermen. It can be concluded that the central and regional governments must always pay attention to marine management, especially for utilising resources and food. That the sea has abundant natural wealth can be used to improve people’s nutrition and state income.
Tiongkok sebagai salah satu negara terbesar di dunia dengan populasi terbesar dan negara ekonomi terbesar kedua di dunia. Pada 2013, Presiden Tiongkok Xi Jinping menetapkan jalur perdagangan melalui ...pembangunan bersama dan kemakmuran dengan meningkatkan kerja sama lintas regional multilateral, yang dapat disebut Jalan Sutra Modern atau One Belt One Road (OBOR). Untuk mendukung OBOR, juga dibentuk Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). Dalam konteks kekuatan ekonomi, AIIB telah berkontribusi dalam meningkatkan dominasi ekonomi Tiongkok di dunia. Munculnya Tiongkok sebagai kekuatan global baru dalam beberapa dekade terakhir telah meletakkan dasar bagi perkembangan ekonominya yang kuat, yang menghasilkan modal yang kuat dalam perangkat dan kapasitas untuk membangun infrastruktur yang ditawarkan oleh AIIB.
Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan bagaimana keberadaan AIIB yang mendukung kerjasama ekonomi menemukan bahwa AIIB dan OBOR merupakan upaya kuat Tiongkok untuk mendapatkan dominasi ekonomi. Penulis menggunakan teori Geoekonomi dan Kepentingan Nasional menjelaskan bahwa AIIB memiliki kelebihan yaitu kerjasama global yang memberikan dana yang besar bagi anggotanya dengan mengadakan perjanjian internasional dengan Tiongkok sebesar USD 150 Milyar atau setara dengan Rp 2.137,6 triliun per tahun yang dapat dipinjamkan oleh negara-negara peserta untuk membangun infrastruktur. Namun, keberadaan AIIB menunjukkan agenda tersembunyi sebagai upaya Tiongkok untuk mengubah dominasi Amerika Serikat. Selain itu, ada atas keberadaan Jebakan Hutang Tiongkok (China Debt Trap) yang menyebabkan ketakutan terhadap AIIB.

The COVID-19 pandemic that started in China has expanded throughout the world. As a result, all countries have to face various challenges due to the Corona Virus. It does not only threaten the ...health, but also the economy, social, culture and politics of almost all countries. The worst conditions are faced by many developing countries that are unable to overcome the various adverse effects caused by the virus.However, currently, there is no world leadership yet capable to overcome the Corona Virus problem for all countries. Treatment tends to be domestic and unilateral. To solve the pandemic, there is a south-south cooperation framework known as SSTC. Collaboration and partnerships between southern countries are important because more developing countries are facing the impact of the virus. Indonesia as one of the successful actors operating SSTC since 2010 can use this framework of cooperation as solidarity with other southern countries.In this article, a descriptive qualitative approach is used to explain and analyze the conditions that occur concerning the theories. The author uses the theory of Soft Power and International Assistance, aims to explain how Indonesia's diplomacy policy through the SSTC is the finding that Indonesia conducted a series of assistance and training to various countries during the Pandemic. This paper contributes to showing Indonesia's consistent policy and position to overcoming COVID-19 towards several developing countries. However, Indonesia needs consistenantyto increase its role in handling the Corona Virus in various developing countries.
The study will discuss the protection of Indonesia's maritime sovereignty in Natuna using the theory of smart power, linkage issues, and national security. First, smart power explains the use of ...power; the Indonesian government intelligently combines various decisions and resources to gain China's legitimacy regarding national interests in Natuna. Second, the Linkage Issues theory identifies the use of policies outside the defence sector that impact China. Third, national security explains various efforts to protect Indonesia's sovereignty in various fields, such as trade and politics. The research method is qualitative explanatory as a case study analysis to explain Indonesia's strategy to protect the sovereign territory in Natuna. This research shows Indonesia as a great country with a higher bargaining position that tries to protect its sovereign territory. The article proves that Indonesia has a strong bargaining position in protecting the Natuna region by using various strategic policies that impact China, even though China is more assertive in the political and military aspects.
