To translate the Consultation and Relational Empathy (CARE) Measure into Croatian and validate the Croatian version of the questionnaire.
A cross-sectional study was conducted in July 2011 in 8 ...general practices (GP) in Croatia. Following two stages of translation, back-translation, and pilot testing, the Croatian version of the CARE was tested on 568 consecutive patients.
Face validity was high, the number of missing values was low (9%), and the internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha) was 0.77. A principal component analysis of 10 CARE Measure items extracted two components with eigenvalues >1. These two components explained 43.6% of the total instrument variance.
The Croatian version of the CARE Measure had acceptable reliability and face validity, but its intended component structure was not reproduced and further research is needed to understand its dimensionality.

This paper aims to point out the field within the psychotherapy process that enables selfknowledge, and that is the field where “I and You” meet. A true encounter is what enables growth and a therapeutic effect on the client and the psychotherapist. One of the key tasks of the psychotherapy process is to stimulate and (re)discover vital energy in the client, which is called Eros. Eros thus becomes a place of vitality, creativity, and transformation, and ultimately a path to self-realization. Self-awareness and therapeutic growth in psychodrama are achieved fundamentally through the technique of “role reversal” which allows people to be seen from the perspective of another, which enriches and expands their experience of themselves and opens the way to change. Such a privileged position, which is made possible by a psychodramatic action of role reversal, is an important effect by which a person has the opportunity to interpret “oneself to oneself” and thereby overcome the limitations of the traditional subject-object dichotomy.
This paper discusses the contribution made by psychodrama role theory to sociology. It is well known that role theory was founded and disseminated in sociology, and specifi cally in social ...psychology; our goal therefore is to indicate the ways in which psychodrama can act as a bridge between sociology and psychology. J. L. Moreno, as the founder of psychodrama, strongly believed that psychodrama was more inclusive than sociology, particularly since it has practical and therapeutic aspects of role playing, and role reversal especially. Our idea is to emphasize and demonstrate how role reversal, role development, role analysis and the theatrical background of psychodrama are practical elements that result in therapeutic eff ects. Along with the theoretical elaborations of these aspects and contributions, we use examples from our ongoing weekly psychodrama group, which we have been leading as directors / co-therapists since 2014.
Infertility is a multidimensional developmental crisis of the individual, couple, family and the population as a whole. This study concentrates on the psychological aspects of infertility treatment ...by in vitro fertilization (IVF). The aim of this study was to examine a connection between certain psychological factors - anxiety, depression, motivation for parenthood, styles of coping with stress - and the outcome of IVF.
The study included 100 primarily infertile women aged 23-38 years, who underwent IVF procedure for the first time, at the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of University Hospital Centre Zagreb. Regarding the outcome of IVF, they were divided into two groups, those with positive outcome (N=50), and those with negative outcome of IVF (N=50). We have applied: general data questionnaire, Parenthood motivation scale, COPE Inventory, and Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scales - 21.
The dimension of motivation for parenthood Relationship and the styles of coping with stress Seeking emotional support, Planning and Active coping proved to be statistically significant predictors of IVF outcome. By increasing the results on the relationship, seeking emotional support and planning subscales, the likelihood of negative outcome was increased. By increasing the results on the active coping subscale, the likelihood of positive outcome was increased. Anxiety and depression symptoms did not prove to be statistically significant predictors of the IVF outcome.
The role of psychological factors is important for understanding the diagnosis and treatment of infertility. They also provide the basis for creating guidelines for specific preventive and educational programs and for special forms of psychological counselling for individuals facing infertility.
- The purpose of the present study was to examine the association among the risk of eating disorder (ED), psychological adjustment, empathy, attachment style and thin-ideal internalization among ...adolescents with anorexia nervosa (AN), as compared to a healthy control (HC) group. The Questionnaire of General Data, the Eating Disorders Inventory-3 (EDI-3), the Questionnaire of Sociocultural Attitudes Towards Appearance-3 (SATAQ-3), the Experiences in Close Relationships-Revised (ECR-R) and the Basic Empathy Scale (BES) were administered to 35 female adolescents with AN and 35 HC adolescents. Eating disorder risk was found to be highest in AN females with higher levels of general psychological maladjustment (GPMC), followed by HC females with higher thin-ideal internalization. In the AN group, attachment style and thin-ideal internalization in combination with GPMC were not indicated as significant predictors of eating disorder risk. Study data provide support to conceptualizations of EDs that emphasize the role of general psychological maladjustment in the development of EDs.
The aim of this study was to examine whether there is a difference in the dimensions of attachment and difference in emotional regulation between the group of female patients suffering from bulimia ...nervosa (BN) and the control group. We also wanted to examine whether emotional regulation has a mediating role in the relationship between dimensions of attachment and severity of BN symptoms.
The study included a total of 100 female participants from 15 to 25 years of age (M=20.40, SD=3.26). The clinical group consisted of 50 patients suffering from BN, and the control group consisted of 50 healthy female subjects.
Female patients suffering from BN achieved higher scores in the dimensions of anxiety (t
=-5.12, p=0.00) and avoidance (t
=-4.30, p=0.00). Dimension of attachment related anxiety (β=0.44, p=0.00) proved to be a statistically significant predictor of BN symptoms. Subjects of the clinical group also achieved significantly higher (t
=7.41, p=0.00) emotional dysregulation than participants of the control group. We also found that the mediation effect of emotional regulation on the association between anxiety and BN symptoms was statistically significant (z'=4.43, p=0.00).
Patients suffering from BN showed significantly higher levels of attachment related anxiety and avoidance as well as significantly higher level of difficulties in emotional regulation than healthy controls. Attachment anxiety proved to be a significant predictor of symptoms BN, suggesting that the attachment related anxiety is stronger correlate of BN symptoms than avoidance, and may represent a risk factor for more severe BN symptoms. It was also found that the relationship between attachment related anxiety and BN symptoms were mediated by emotional regulation.
