The potential effect of pre-inoculation of processing tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) plants with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) on yield and fruit properties was investigated in conventional ...production. Tomato seeds were sown in seedling trays filled with a substrate non-inoculated (AMF-) or inoculated (AMF+) by selected mycorrhizal strains. Seedlings were transplanted in Terra rossa soil and grown in conditions with mineral fertilization and irrigation. Tomato fruits were sampled at harvest. Tomato plants under both treatments had high levels of mycorrhizal colonization, due to applied inoculum (AMF+) or indigenous (AMF-) inoculum present in the soil. Applied AMF+ treatment increased P and decreased K content in tomato fruits. Content of trace elements such as As and V significantly increased, while Pb content significantly decreased in the fruits of AMF+ when compared to the AMF- treatment. No significant effect of AMF+ treatment was observed on yield, fruit quality (soluble solids, pH, total acidity, fruit firmness), lycopene and antioxidant activity of tomato fruits. The overall results suggest that processing tomato is highly susceptible to the indigenous AMF, while seedlings inoculation with selected AMF improves only total phenolic and P fruit content. This means that AMF have a potential application in commercial processing tomato production, however a targeted adaptation of management decissions is required for more extensive results.
Green mould disease, caused by Trichoderma species, is a severe problem for mushroom growers worldwide, including Croatia. Trichoderma strains were isolated from green mould-affected Agaricus ...bisporus (button or common mushroom) compost and Pleurotus ostreatus (oyster mushroom) substrate samples collected from Croatian mushroom farms. The causal agents of green mould disease in the oyster mushroom were T. pleurotum and T. pleuroticola, similar to other countries. At the same time, the pathogen of A. bisporus was exclusively the species T. harzianum, which is different from earlier findings and indicates that the range of mushroom pathogens is widening. The temperature profiles of the isolates and their hosts overlapped, thus no range was found that would allow optimal growth of the mushrooms without mould contamination. Ferulic acid and certain phenolic compounds, such as thymol showed remarkable fungistatic effect on the Trichoderma isolates, but inhibited the host mushrooms as well. However, commercial fungicides prochloraz and carbendazim were effective agents for pest management. This is the first report on green mould disease of cultivated mushrooms in Croatia.

The aim of our study was to determine Diaporthaceae species ...present in the woody parts of grapevines sampled from 12 vine-growing coastal and continental areas of Croatia. The fungi were isolated from diseased wood, and cultures analysed for phenotype (morphology and pathogenicity) and DNA sequence (ITS1, 5.8S, ITS2). Most isolates were identified as Phomopsis viticola, followed by Diaporthe neotheicola and Diaporthe eres. This is the first report of Diaporthe eres as a pathogen on grapevine in the world, while for Diaporthe neotheicola this is the first report in Croatia. Pathogenicity trials confirmed Phomopsis viticola as a strong and Diaporthe neotheicola as a weak pathogen. Diaporthe eres turned out to be a moderate pathogen, which implies that the species could have a more important role in the aetiology of GTD.

Bolesti vinove loze koje se danas u općeprihvaćenoj engleskoj fitopatološkoj terminologiji označavaju kao grapevine trunk disease (GTD) obuhvaćaju bolesti drva vinove loze s različitom simptomatologijom i etiologijom. Kao jedan od uzroka GTD-a navode se i fitopatogene gljive iz porodice Diaporthaceae. Iz ove porodice na vinovoj lozi do sada je u Hrvatskoj utvrđena samo vrsta Phomopsis viticola kao uzročnik bolesti crna pjegavost i Phomopsis cotoneastri. U svijetu se navodi još 15 vrsta koje spadaju u rod Diaporthe/Phomopsis s različitom patogenosti na vinovoj lozi pa se stoga neke vrste smatraju endofitima, a neke patogenima. Radi utvrđivanja etiologije bolesti drva vinove loze povezanih s gljivama iz porodice Diaporthaceae uzimani su uzorci bolesnog drva i rozgve vinove loze iz različitih vinogorja unutar svih 12 vinogradarskih podregija kontinentalne i primorske Hrvatske. Gljive su iz zaraženog drva izolirane u čistu kulturu na hranjivu podlogu. Taksonomski status izolata utvrđen je na temelju njihove fenotipske karakterizacije (karakteristike kolonija i spora) i analizom DNA-sekvencija molekularnog markera ITS (ITS1, 5.8S, ITS2). Najveći broj izoliranih gljiva identificiran je kao vrsta Phomopsis viticola, dok je manji dio izoliranih gljiva pripadao vrstama Diaporthe neotheicola i Diaporthe eres. Za vrstu Diaporthe eres ovo je prvi nalaz na vinovoj lozi u svijetu, a za vrstu Diaporthe neotheicola prvi nalaz u Hrvatskoj. Testovi patogenosti potvrdili su da je Phomopsis viticola izrazito patogena vrsta na vinovoj lozi, dok se vrsta Diaporthe neotheicola pokazala slabim patogenom, a vrsta Diaporthe eres utvrđena je kao srednje jak patogen pa bi mogla imati važniju ulogu u etiologiji GTD-a.
Bor (B) je esencijalni biogeni element neophodan za rast i razvoj masline, a nedostatak B općenito se smatra jednim od najčešćih nedostataka mikroelemenata u maslinarstvu. Iako nedostatak B može ...dovesti do promjene koncentracije različitih fenolnih spojeva u listu masline utjecaj ishranjenosti masline B na fenolni profil lista udomaćenih sorata masline nije dovoljno istražen. Stoga, cilj ovog istraživanja bio je utvrditi utjecaj primjene hranive otopine s (B+) (30 μM B) ili bez (B-) (0 μM B) bora na fenolni profil lista masline (Olea europaea L.) sorte 'Istarska bjelica'. Pokus je postavljen kao slučajni blokni raspored u četiri ponavljanja na ukupno 40 sadnica masline sorte 'Istarska bjelica'. Uzorkovanje lista provedeno je nakon 60 dana od početka pokusa. Koncentracija B u listu masline bila je značajno veća u B+ tretmanu, dok su utvrđene koncentracije ukupnih fenola i verbaskozida u listu masline bile značajno veće u B- tretmanu. Gnojidba B nije značajno utjecala na koncentraciju ostalih fenolnih spojeva. Značajno veća koncentracija ukupnih fenola i verbaskozida u listu sorte 'Istarska bjelica' kod B- tretmana može se povezati s fiziološkim odgovorom biljke na nedostatak B.
The presence and occurrence of Fusarium species was examined on the seeds of cultivated legumes – common vetch (Vicia sativa), white lupine (Lupinus albus), and wild legumes: bird’s-foot trefoil ...(Lotus corniculatus), wild alfalfa (Medicago sativa), black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia), honey locust (Gleditsia triacanthos), sweet clover (Melilotus officinalis), bird vetch (Vicia cracca) and meadow vetchling (Lathyrus pratensis). Thirteen Fusarium species were identified - F. verticillioides, F. acuminatum, F. avenaceum, F. tricinctum F. oxysporum, F. scirpi, F. semitectum, F. culmorum, F. proliferatum, F. pseudograminearum, F. sporotrichioides, F. sambucinum and F. heterosporum. Species F. verticillioides and F. proliferatum were determined on seeds of the cultivated legumes (common vetch and white lupine). Other 11 Fusarium species were determined on seeds of wild legumes (bird’s-foot trefoil, wild alfalfa, sweet clover and bird vetch) among which the most prevalent were species F. avenaceum and F. acuminatum.

Bolesti drveta vinove loze (BDVL) naziv je za skup bolesti koje uzrokuju različite fitopatogene gljive, paraziti drvenastih tkiva vinove loze. Simptomi ovih bolesti javljaju se na višegodišnjim i ...jednogodišnjim organima zaražene biljke, a sežu od početnih blagih smanjenja bujnosti i zaostataka u rastu do postupnog sušenja dijelova biljke te potpunog sušenja trsa. Danas te bolesti predstavljaju ozbiljan problem u uzgoju vinove loze diljem svijeta smanjujući produktivnost vinograda i do 30 %, a trošak zamjene trsova zbog tih bolesti na svjetskoj se razini broji u milijardama kuna. Smatra se da je učestalost pojave BDVL-a u porastu posljednjih desetljeća zbog kombinacije više čimbenika, a najvažniji su izostanak učinkovitih kemijskih sredstava za njihovo suzbijanje, izostanak kontrole na uzročnike tih bolesti u rasadničarskoj proizvodnji uz istovremeni porast vinogradarskih površina zasađenih s moguće već zaraženim sadnim materijalom. Također, povećana uporaba mehanizacije, u ionako biljkama stresnom režimu održavanja vinograda, dodatno je povećala podložnost vinove loze na infekciju gljivama uzročnicima bolesti drveta te pridonijela širenju bolesti, primarno putem rezidbenih rana. Stoga, kao odgovor na rastuću pojavu BDVL-a, gdje razvoj jednostavnog kemijskog rješenja za ovaj složen fitopatološki problem u dogledno vrijeme nije izvjestan, niti je s ekološkog stajališta poželjan, moderna fitopatologija predlaže cjelovit pristup zaštiti od tih bolesti, od rasadnika do vinograda, koji objedinjuje preventivne agrotehničke mjere s ekološki prihvatljivim biološkim sredstvima zaštite bilja (Mondello i sur., 2018.). Zastupljenost pojedinih bolesti iz skupine BDVL-a varira u različitim vinogradarskim regijama svijeta, a primarno uključuje sljedeće bolesti vinove loze: esku/Petrijevu bolest, botriosferijsko sušenje, eutipozu, fomopsijsko sušenje, citosporiozno sušenje te crnu nogu vinove loze. U Hrvatskoj je utvrđena većina navedenih bolesti (osim citosporioznog sušenja), no znanstveno su dokazane eska, botriosferijsko i fomopsijsko sušenje vinove loze, koje su ujedno i najzastupljenije (Kaliterna, 2013.). S obzirom na to da je eska obrađena u zasebnom članku, u ovom će članku biti razmotrene ostale navedene bolesti, kao i pristup njihovu suzbijanju.

Bolest zelene plijesni uzrokovane vrstama roda Trichoderma velik je problem pri uzgoju gljiva u cijelom svijetu, uključujući i Hrvatsku. Vrste Trichoderma izolirane su iz komposta onečišćenog zelenom plijesni pri uzgoju šampinjona (Agaricus bisporus), kao i iz uzoraka supstrata uzgoja bukovača (Pleurotus ostreatus), s farma gljiva u Hrvatskoj. Pri infekciji bukovača izolirani su i identificirani uzročnici vrsta Trichodermapleurotum i T. pleuroticola, što odgovara nalazima u drugim zemljama, dok je iz uzgoja šampinjona izolirana samo vrsta T. harzianum. Navedeni su podaci različiti od prijašnjih nalaza i upućuju na to da se širi broj infektivnih uzročnika pri uzgoju gljiva. Temperaturni profil izolata i njihovih domaćina preklapao se, a komercijalni fungicidi prokloraz i karbendazim nađeni su kao potencijalno dobri kandidati za učinkovito suzbijanje ovih infekcija. Ferulična kiselina i neke fenolne tvari kao što je timol pokazuju značajan fungistatski učinak na izolate vrsta roda Trichoderma, ali su također inhibitorni i za domaćine - gljive. Ovo je prvo izvješće o bolesti izazvanoj zelenom plijesni pri uzgoju gljiva šampinjona i bukovača u Hrvatskoj.
Manje raširene i ekonomski manje važne gljivične bolesti krumpira u Hrvatskoj jesu prašnjava krastavost (Spongospora subterranea), antraknoza (Colletotrichum coccodes), srebrolikost gomolja ...(Helminthosporium solani) i gangrena gomolja (Boeremia foveata, sin. Phoma exigua var. foveata). Međutim, u pojedinim godinama i te bolesti mogu uzrokovati štete i smanjenje prinosa te ih je stoga važno poznavati. U ovom radu bit će opisane antraknoza i gangrena gomolja krumpira jer one do sada u hrvatskoj literature nisu dovoljno obrađivane.
