Air flow measurements provide significant information required for understanding the characteristics of insect movement. This study proposes a four-channel low-noise readout integrated circuit (IC) ...in order to measure air flow (air velocity), which can be beneficial to insect biomimetic robot systems that have been studied recently. Instrumentation amplifiers (IAs) with low-noise characteristics in readout ICs are essential because the air flow of an insect’s movement, which is electrically converted using a microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) sensor, generally produces a small signal. The fundamental architecture employed in the readout IC is a three op amp IA, and it accomplishes low-noise characteristics by chopping. Moreover, the readout IC has a four-channel input structure and implements an automatic offset calibration loop (AOCL) for input offset correction. The AOCL based on the binary search logic adjusts the output offset by controlling the input voltage bias generated by the R-2R digital-to-analog converter (DAC). The electrically converted air flow signal is amplified using a three op amp IA, which is passed through a low-pass filter (LPF) for ripple rejection that is generated by chopping, and converted to a digital code by a 12-bit successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converter (ADC). Furthermore, the readout IC contains a low-dropout (LDO) regulator that enables the supply voltage to drive digital circuits, and a serial peripheral interface (SPI) for digital communication. The readout IC is designed with a 0.18 μm CMOS process and the current consumption is 1.886 mA at 3.3 V supply voltage. The IC has an active area of 6.78 mm2 and input-referred noise (IRN) characteristics of 95.4 nV/√Hz at 1 Hz.
AbstractIn a multi-channel distribution environment, the selection and assessment of suppliers are pivotal to effective retailer performance management. This necessitates heightened qualifications ...and competence from suppliers. This study examines the relationship between the perception of supplier firms’ status, evaluation performance, and overall satisfaction of food buyers with suppliers in online/offline channels. In addition, this study investigates the moderating impacts of the distribution channel to explore the influence of the online/offline distribution channel on this relationship. For exploratory research, food buyers from 20 large retailers headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, were surveyed, and 110 valid questionnaires were used for analysis. Results of the study indicate that among suppliers’ firm factors, suppliers’ firm size and experience with the retailer were significantly and positively related to buyer satisfaction. Likewise, among evaluation factors, product competency and delivery reliability were significantly and positively related to buyer satisfaction. In addition, the results reveal that the distribution channel has moderating effects on the relationship between firm size and buyer satisfaction, as well as between experience with the retailer and buyer satisfaction. Therefore, the study verified that the distribution channel is an important factor that must be considered not only in the consumer market but also in the buying behavior research of the business-to-business market.

This research identified the possibility of application as an insulation building material by mixing aerogels with the cement paste as well as their thermal performance. The aerogel is a very stable material against water because of their skeleton’s characteristics, so that re-treatment of aerogel had to be preceded before mixing with cement pastes. Chemical and physical stability caused by the re-treatment of aerogel in the cured cement were confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). Moreover, thermal conductivity of aerogel cement was 0.135W/mK which is 75% of aerogel-free cement’s thermal conductivity, 0.533W/mK.
This paper presents a fingertip grip force sensor based on custom capacitive sensors for glove-type assistive devices with an open-pad structure. The design of the sensor allows using human tactile ...sensations during grasping and manipulating an object. The proposed sensor can be attached on both sides of the fingertip and measure the force caused by the expansion of the fingertip tissue when a grasping force is applied to the fingertip. The number of measurable degrees of freedom (DoFs) are the two DoFs (flexion and adduction) for the thumb and one DoF (flexion) for the index and middle fingers. The proposed sensor allows the combination with a glove-type assistive device to measure the fingertip force. Calibration was performed for each finger joint angle because the variations in the expansion of the fingertip tissue depend on the joint angles. The root mean square error (RMSE) for fingertip force estimation ranged from 3.75% to 9.71% after calibration, regardless of the finger joint angles or finger posture.

under cold stress. PWR also interacts with C-repeat element-binding factor transcription factors to modulate their cold-induced binding to the promoter of
genes. Collectively, our data signify that the PWR-HOS15-HD2C histone-modifying complex regulates the expression of
genes and the freezing tolerance of plants.
In children, psychotic-like experiences (PLEs) are related to risk of psychosis, schizophrenia, and other mental disorders. Maladaptive cognitive functioning, influenced by genetic and environmental ...factors, is hypothesized to mediate the relationship between these factors and childhood PLEs. Using large-scale longitudinal data, we tested the relationships of genetic and environmental factors (such as familial and neighborhood environment) with cognitive intelligence and their relationships with current and future PLEs in children. We leveraged large-scale multimodal data of 6,602 children from the Adolescent Brain and Cognitive Development Study. Linear mixed model and a novel structural equation modeling (SEM) method that allows estimation of both components and factors were used to estimate the joint effects of cognitive phenotypes polygenic scores (PGSs), familial and neighborhood socioeconomic status (SES), and supportive environment on NIH Toolbox cognitive intelligence and PLEs. We adjusted for ethnicity (genetically defined), schizophrenia PGS, and additionally unobserved confounders (using computational confound modeling). Our findings indicate that lower cognitive intelligence and higher PLEs are significantly associated with lower PGSs for cognitive phenotypes, lower familial SES, lower neighborhood SES, and less supportive environments. Specifically, cognitive intelligence mediates the effects of these factors on PLEs, with supportive parenting and positive school environments showing the strongest impact on reducing PLEs. This study underscores the influence of genetic and environmental factors on PLEs through their effects on cognitive intelligence. Our findings have policy implications in that improving school and family environments and promoting local economic development may enhance cognitive and mental health in children.
An all-digital clock frequency multiplier that achieves excellent locking time for an energy-efficient chiplet-based system-on-chip (SoC) design is presented. The proposed architecture is based on an ...all-digital multiplying delay-locked loop (MDLL) to provide fast locking time and multiplied output clock frequency. The proposed MDLL has two operation modes: TDC tracking and sequential tracking. At the beginning of the operation, the MDLL utilizes a cyclic Vernier time-to-digital converter (TDC) to detect the initial phase error between the reference clock and the output clock. Then the TDC generates a digital code word (DCW) for controlling the digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) to achieve a fast lock time. The gains of TDC and DCO are designed to match well with each other, enabling phase and frequency locking in only two searches in the TDC tracking mode. After locking, the TDC is turned off, and the MDLL performs the sequential tracking mode and minimizes jitter by using the delta-sigma modulator (DSM)-based dithering jitter reduction scheme. The prototype all-digital MDLL is fabricated in a 40-nm CMOS process and achieves a fast lock time of less than six reference clock cycles at 1.6 GHz from a 100 MHz reference clock. Even when the 100 MHz reference clock has a relatively high RMS jitter of 2.19 ps (peak-to-peak jitter = 15.74 ps), the measured RMS and peak-to-peak jitter values of the 1.6 GHz MDLL output clock are only 2.75 ps and 23.01 ps, respectively. The proposed all-digital MDLL occupies an active area of only 0.024 mm2 and dissipates 3.56 mW at 1.6 GHz.
Laminated graphene oxide (GO) has promising use as a membrane because of its high permeance, chemical and mechanical stability, as well as the molecular sieving effect of its interlayers. However, ...the hydrophilic surface of GO, which is highly decorated with oxygen groups, easily induces delamination of stacked GO films in aqueous media, thereby limiting the practical application. To stabilize GO films in aqueous media, we functionalized a polymer support with branched polyethylene-imine (BPEI). BPEI adsorbed intercalated into the stacked GO sheets via diffusion during filtration. The GO/BPEI membrane obtained exhibits high stability during sonication (>1 h duration, 40 kHz frequency) in water within a broad pH range (2–12). In contrast, the GO film spontaneously delaminated upon sonication. Furthermore, BPEI treatment did not affect the filtration performance of the GO film, as evidenced by the high rejection rates (>90%) for the dye molecules methylene blue, rose bengal, and brilliant blue and by their permeation rates of ca. 124, 34.8, 12.2, and 5.1%, respectively, relative to those of a typical GO membrane.
Dehydrating stresses trigger the accumulation of abscisic acid (ABA), a key plant stress-signaling hormone that activates Snf1-Related Kinases (SnRK2s) to mount adaptive responses. However, the ...regulatory circuits that terminate the SnRK2s signal relay after acclimation or post-stress conditions remain to be defined. Here, we show that the desensitization of the ABA signal is achieved by the regulation of OST1 (SnRK2.6) protein stability via the E3-ubiquitin ligase HOS15. Upon ABA signal, HOS15-induced degradation of OST1 is inhibited and stabilized OST1 promotes the stress response. When the ABA signal terminates, protein phosphatases ABI1/2 promote rapid degradation of OST1 via HOS15. Notably, we found that even in the presence of ABA, OST1 levels are also depleted within hours of ABA signal onset. The unexpected dynamics of OST1 abundance are then resolved by systematic mathematical modeling, demonstrating a desensitizing feedback loop by which OST1-induced upregulation of ABI1/2 leads to the degradation of OST1. This model illustrates the complex rheostat dynamics underlying the ABA-induced stress response and desensitization.
This work demonstrates that HOS15 negatively regulates ABA signaling by interacting with and affecting OST1 protein stability, which leads to controlled turnover of ABA signaling and drought-stress response.

We hypothesized that the effect of JNK inhibitors on reducing apoptosis and hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) on inducing tissue regeneration could be another treatment mechanism of erectile dysfunction after radical prostatectomy.
To investigate whether JNK inhibition combined with intracavernosal administration of HGF can completely preserve cavernosal veno-occlusive function (CVOF) in a rat model of erectile dysfunction induced via bilateral cavernosal nerve crush injury (CNCI).
A total of 42 male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned to sham control (group S), CNCI (group I), and CNCI treated with a combination of JNK inhibitor and HGF (group J + H) for 5 weeks after surgery.
Rats in each group were evaluated via dynamic infusion cavernosometry (DIC), caspase-3 activity assay, Masson trichrome staining, immunohistochemical staining of α-smooth muscle actin, and immunoblotting at 5 weeks after surgery.
Regarding CVOF, group I showed decreased papaverine response, increased maintenance, and drop rates of DIC when compared with group S. Group J + H showed significant improvement in the 3 DIC parameters vs group I. No differences in the 3 DIC parameters were found between group J + H and group S. Regarding the structural integrity of the corpus cavernosum, group I showed increased caspase-3 activity, decreased smooth muscle (SM):collagen ratio, decreased SM content, decreased protein expression of PECAM-1, and decreased phosphorylation of c-Jun and c-Met. Group J + H showed significant attenuation in histologic and molecular derangement as compared with group I. There were no differences in caspase-3 activity, SM content, SM:collagen ratio, PECAM-1 protein expression, c-Jun phosphorylation, and c-Met phosphorylation between groups J + H and S.
Our results suggest that antiapoptotic and regenerative therapy for the corpus cavernosum is a potential mechanism of penile rehabilitation after radical prostatectomy.
This study provides evidence that combination treatment of JNK inhibitor and HGF preserves erectile function by restoring corporal SM and endothelium. However, additional human studies are needed to confirm the clinical effect.
Chronic treatment with JNK inhibitor and HGF may preserve CVOF to levels comparable to sham control by preserving the structural integrity of the corpus cavernosum and so represents a potential therapeutic option for preventing the development of cavernosal veno-occlusive dysfunction.
