Leaders have a difficult task as managing employees becomes more and more demanding and complex. Leadership mechanisms that were valid in the past are not valid today. Competition on the market is ...increasing and there is less and less room for differentiation. Leadership is an area in which organisations increasingly seek to differentiate themselves. However, to be able to do this it is necessary to understand all the complexity and breadth of leadership, the elements that need to be considered and how they affect each other. Many studies examine individual elements, but none offers a single overarching pattern. Therefore, in the first step of this paper, the goal is to present various studies related to leadership. Based on these studies, a comprehensive analytical framework is proposed. The framework integrates several areas (Environment, Leadership, People, Performance) and represents the mechanism of their mutual influence. This is a novelty in the approach to leadership and as such can be a guide for leaders in making them aware of what they should focus on. Also, this framework could be the basis for future predicative and prescriptive analytics in the field of monitoring employee behaviour and their impact on organisational culture.
Motivating employees with different characteristics has a significant effect on company performance. This paper models the relationship between employer and heterogeneous employees working in pairs ...as a principal-agent problem. Every worker can encounter moral hazard with regard to the stimulation of the employer and the efficient work of co-workers. Employee behavior describes a reaction function based on which the equilibrium of appropriate pairs of employees and their overall effective performance is described. The employer determines the optimal stimulation that minimizes the expected average cost of effective work for each individual group of employees. The total expected average cost of efficient work of the entire company in the short run depends on the distribution of employees with different characteristics. How the attitude of employees towards work in the long run changes is described by replicative dynamics and shows that the stability of the employee population is achieved in two cases where the long-run total expected average cost of efficient work is differentiated by approximately eight percent. This paper describes a new conceptual framework for quantitative analysis of the effects of motivation on the short and long run financial results of an enterprise.
This paper explores the hypothesis that sentiment in text is closely related to emotions in speech in terms of features needed for successful detection. We use a Croatian emotional speech corpus ...(CrES) and a Croatian social network textual sentiment corpus SentHR. We first perform emotional state estimation based on acoustic speech features using support vector machines in the first case and random forest in second. Accuracy between 60% and 70% was achieved for five discrete emotion classification task. Subsequently, we trained a positive naive Bayes classifier for textual sentiment, reporting an accuracy of around 70% (with a pronounced bias towards the complement). Finally, we used the trained sentiment classifier for two classification experiments on the transcripts of the CrES dataset for classifying anger and sadness. Across several iterations, the results showed that accuracy on the transcripts was around 50% for both sadness and anger, reporting a slightly higher (albeit consistently higher) accuracy on emotional state "anger".
In this preliminary report we propose a survey-based method for defining imprecise quantification for Croatian, By using the results of a survey conducted among students, a fuzzy membership function ...for each of the precise and imprecise quantification terms can be defined with possible extensions to type-2 fuzzy memberships. An earlier version of this paper was submitted and subsequently withdrawn from the ACE-X 2017 conference.
Umijeće analiziranja jest umijeće postavljanja pitanja, a ne traženja odgovora. Pritom je
dodatni izazov točno i pravovremeno predviđati.
Zašto i kako heuristike
primjenom problem-solving tehnika.
Provider: - Institution: - Data provided by Europeana Collections- U ovom su radu znanstveno istražene ekonomske implikacije međunarodnog terorizma.
Jesu li
postojeće teorije o uzrocima međunarodnog terorizma pravilno sagledale snagu ekonomije
međunarodnog terorizma? Postoje li kanali interakcije ekonomije međunarodnog terorizma i
tradicionalne ekonomije?
Predmet istraživanja ovog rada jest istražiti i definirati relevantne teorijske i empirijske
međuzavisnosti ekonomskih značajki i međunarodnog terorizma, posebice ekonomskih uzroka,
ekonomskih posljedica i ekonomije međunarodnog terorizma te predložiti modele primjene
ekonomskih metoda u prevenciji i sprječavanju međunarodnog terorizma.
ilegalnim sektorima tradicionalne ekonomije. Učinkovita antiteroristička politika zahtijeva
identificiranje i zatvaranje tokova interakcije između ekonomije međunarodnog terorizma i
tradicionalne ekonomije.
Svrha i ciljevi istraživanja glase: u okviru ekonomskih znanosti istražiti fenomenologiju
međunarodnog terorizma; istražiti mogućnosti primjene ekonomskih metoda u istraživanju
međunarodnog terorizma te provesti ekonomsku analizu međunarodnog terorizma s ciljem
utvrđivanja međuzavisnosti ekonomskih značajki i međunarodnog terorizma te istražiti
ekonomske implikacije međunarodnog terorizma; znanstveno istražiti ekonomske uzroke
međunarodnog terorizma, ekonomiju međunarodnog terorizma, ekonomske posljedice
međunarodnog terorizma te provesti analizu troškova suzbijanja međunarodnog terorizma;
istražiti primjenu ekonomskih metoda u prevenciji i sprječavanju međunarodnog terorizma i
utjecaj globalizacije na međunarodni terorizam.- This dissertation documents scientifically based research on economic implications of
transnational terrorism.
The research deals with economic aspects of transnational terrorism and the
implementation of the economic analysis of transnational terrorism by way of investigating
economic implications of transnational terrorism.
The research problem can be described in terms of the following questions: Which
interdependencies exist between external economic factors and transnational terrorism, and what
are the interdependencies between internal economic factors and transnational terrorism? If using
a conducted research we define basic interdependencies, the question arises about adequate
economic models to be used within counter-terrorism activities? Are economic factors of
transnational terrorism becoming more relevant than religious, ideological, cultural or
civilization factors, i.e., has transnational terrorism evolved? Do the existing theories on causes
of transnational terrorism provide the adequate view of the power of the economy of
transnational terrorism? Are there channels of interaction between the economy of transnational
terrorism and traditional economy?
This dissertation aims at investigating and defining all relevant theoretical and empirical
characteristics of the interdependence of economic factors and transnational terrorism,
particularly economic causes and consequences, and the economy of transnational terrorism, as
well as suggesting implementation models of economic methods in preventing and averting
transnational terrorism.
Basic scientific hypothesis is: factors that prevail in transnational terrorism are of
economic rather than religious, ideological, cultural or civilization character, and transnational
terrorism has economic foundations and relies on the international economic system closely
connected with both legal and illegal sectors of traditional economy. Effective and efficient
counter-terrorism policy demands identification and closing of interaction flows between the
economy of transnational terrorism and traditional economy.
Main aims and purposes of the research are: to investigate the phenomenology of
transnational terrorism within the scope of economic sciences; to investigate the possibility of
implementing economic methods in investigating transnational terrorism, and to make an
economic analysis of transnational terrorism aimed at defining interdependencies between
economic factors and transnational terrorism, and investigate the economic implications of
transnational terrorism; to investigate scientifically the economic causes, the economy and the
economic consequences of transnational terrorism, and to analyze the costs of suppressing
transnational terrorism; to investigate the implementation of economic methods in the prevention
and suppression of transnational terrorism and the impact of globalization on transnational
terrorism.- All metadata published by Europeana are available free of restriction under the Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Universal Public Domain Dedication. However, Europeana requests that you actively acknowledge and give attribution to all metadata sources including Europeana
Acoustic and linguistic speech features are used for emotional state estimation of utterances collected within the Croatian emotional speech corpus. Analyses are performed for the classification of 5 ...discrete emotions, i.e. happiness, sadness, fear, anger and neutral state, as well as for the estimation of two emotional dimensions: valence and arousal. Acoustic and linguistic cues of emotional speech are analyzed separately, and are also combined in two types of fusion: a feature level fusion and a decision level fusion. The Random Forest method is used for all analyses, with the combination of Info Gain feature selection method for classification tasks and Univariate Linear Regression method for regression tasks. The main hypothesis is confirmed, i.e. an increase of classification accuracy is achieved in the cases of fusion analyses (compared with separate acoustic or linguistic feature sets usages), as well as a decrease of root mean squared error when estimating emotional dimensions. Most of other hypothesis are also confirmed, which suggest that acoustic and linguistic cues of Croatian language are showing similar behavior as other languages in the context of emotional impact on speech.
