A combination of solid-state mechanochemical and green approaches for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) is explored in this study.
L. (SER),
L. (SAM) and
L. (TYM) plants were successfully ...applied to reduce AgNO
to AgNPs, as confirmed by X-ray diffraction analysis, with SER being the best reducing agent, and TYM being the worst. The experiments were performed via a one-step planetary milling process, where various AgNO
:plant mass ratios (1:1, 1:10, 1:50 and 1:100) were investigated. Atomic absorption spectrometry indicated that the stability of the mechanochemically produced AgNPs increased markedly when a sufficiently large quantity of the reducing plant was used. Furthermore, when larger quantities of plant material were employed, the crystallite size of the AgNPs decreased. TEM analysis revealed that all AgNPs produced from both AgNO
:plant ratios 1:1 and 1:10 exhibit the bimodal size distribution with the larger fraction with size in tens of nm and the smaller one below 10 nm in size. The antibacterial activity of the produced AgNPs was observed only for AgNO
:plant ratio 1:1, with the AgNPs prepared using SER showing the greatest antibacterial properties.
Despite the relevance of the algorithmic governance of smart mobility, only limited research has been conducted on this topic. Using and replicating data from AUVSI, Capgemini Research Institute, ...Ipsos, McKinsey & Co., Perkins Coie, Pew Research Center, and Statista, we performed analyses and made estimates regarding the biggest obstacle to the growth of autonomous vehicles in the next five years (safety concerns/price of investment/cybersecurity or data privacy concerns/consumer readiness to adopt/lack of a regulatory framework/infrastructure issues/creating and implementing digital city mapping platforms with easy-to-update features) and city infrastructure requirements that need immediate attention so that autonomous vehicle technology testing/implementation can be facilitated further (upgrade highways and thoroughfares with smart technology for road signs, traffic lights, and merge lanes/ensure lane markings on city streets are visible and consistent/optimize intersections and streetscapes/upgrade pedestrian accommodations/upgrade parking areas). The results of a study based on data collected from 4,800 respondents provide support for our research model. Using the structural equation modeling and employing the probability sampling technique, we gathered and analyzed data through a self-administrated questionnaire.
We draw on a substantial body of theoretical and empirical research on 3D virtual simulation technology, digital twin modeling, and geospatial data mining in smart sustainable city governance and ...management. With increasing evidence of spatial computing technology, digital twin modeling, multi-sensor environmental data fusion, there is an essential demand for comprehending whether digital twin modeling integrate geospatial data mining and urban cloud data. In this research, prior findings were cumulated indicating that virtual simulation tools, urban sensing technologies, and digital twin networks enable smart city environments. We carried out a quantitative literature review of ProQuest, Scopus, and the Web of Science throughout March 2022, with search terms including “smart sustainable city governance and management” + “3D virtual simulation technology,” “digital twin modeling,” and “geospatial data mining.” As we analyzed research published in 2022, only 186 papers met the eligibility criteria. By removing controversial or unclear findings (scanty/unimportant data), results unsupported by replication, undetailed content, or papers having quite similar titles, we decided on 34, chiefly empirical, sources. Data visualization tools: Dimensions (bibliometric map- ping) and VOSviewer (layout algorithms). Reporting quality assessment tool: PRISMA. Methodological quality assessment tools include: AMSTAR, Distiller SR, ROBIS, and SRDR.
The reality of the market has shown that traditional brand management theory lacks success. There is a need to provide a revision to this theory with an emphasis on behavioral approach. In ...contemporary times, the theory has been limited mainly in this criterion and to avoid from the exact identification of specific brand value sources in conditions of particular nations. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to identify relevant brand value sources which are significant for Slovak socio-cultural profile and to propose an effective innovative model of brand value building and management. The data used in the presented study were obtained by our own survey carried out on the sample of 2000 respondents (citizens of the Slovak Republic older than 15 years). The given data was statistically evaluated by the so-called factor analysis supported by implementation of the KMO Test, Barlett's test of sphericity and calculation of Cronbach's Alpha (for individual brand value sources and their components in general as well as on the example of sportswear brands). The specificities of the national socio-cultural profiles were found to be identical in the priority of the components of the individual, subjectively perceived sources of the brand value. In contrast, the order of importance of brand sources is different and reflects the specificity of the branded product category. Therefore, the specifics of the national socio-cultural profile affect the priority of the components of the individual brand value sources, while the specifics of the product categories affect the priority of the brand value sources itself.

The new Construction Act became the object of interest of many lawyers and representatives of towns and municipalities. Despite many amendments, the original Construction Act is outdated, cumbersome ...and inflexible, and along with it, the Act on Spatial Planning and Amendments to certain Acts is changing. Thanks to the introduction of the Urbion information system, the issuance of construction permits will be speeded up and facilitated, and 13 of the 84 actions required to issue a building permit should remain. It interferes with the competences of municipalities, and even reduces their decision-making on their own spatial development. The contribution is devoted to the legislative changes in question and, in addition to the approximation of the functioning of the new Urbion information system, it also presents the opinions and attitudes of representatives of towns and municipalities in relation to spatial development and spatial planning.
Therapy of bacterial urinary tract infections (UTIs) and catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs) is still a great challenge because of the resistance of bacteria to nowadays used ...antibiotics and encrustation of catheters. Bacterial cellulose (BC) as a biocompatible material with a high porosity allows incorporation of different materials in its three dimensional network structure. In this work a low molecular weight chitosan (Chi) polymer is incorporated in BC with different concentrations. Different characterization techniques are used to investigate structural and optical properties of these composites. Radical scavenging activity test shows moderate antioxidant activity of these biocompatible composites whereas
in vitro
release test shows that 13.3% of chitosan is released after 72 h. Antibacterial testing of BC-Chi composites conducted on Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria causing UTIs and CAUTIs (
Escherichia coli
,
Pseudomonas aeruginosa
,
Klebsiella pneumoniae
) and encrustation (
Proteus mirabilis
) show bactericidal effect. The morphology analysis of bacteria after the application of BC-Chi shows that they are flattened with a rough surface, with a tendency to agglomerate and with decreased length and width. All obtained results show that BC-Chi composites might be considered as potential biomedical agents in treatment of UTIs and CAUTIs and as a urinary catheter coating in encrustation prevention.
Bacterial cellulose-chitosan composite with antibacterial and moderate antioxidant activity for potential UTI/CAUTI treatment and catheter coating in encrustation prevention.
