Human pancreatic lipase (triacylglycerol acyl hydrolase EC3.1.1.3) is the most widely studied member of the human lipase superfamily related to carboxyl esterase. It is secreted from the acinar cell ...of pancreas and has strong preference for triacylglycerides over cholesterol esters, phospholipids, and galactolipids. Apart from the hydrolysis of triacylglycerides, pancreatic lipase may cause the hydrolysis of retinyl esters in vivo. So, it is very much evidenced that pancreatic lipase with its cofactor colipase has prominent role in efficient digestion of dietary fat. Hence, the modulation of human pancreatic lipase may represent a new insight in the discovery of a number of therapeutics that can inhibit the absorption of fat in body and can be used in obesity and other related metabolic disorders. Even, the only Food and drug administration (FDA) approved antiobesity drug, orlistat, is also an inhibitor of pancreatic lipase. This review summarizes studies about structure, mechanistic approach of pancreatic lipase enzyme while emphasizing on the various synthetic pancreatic lipase inhibitors with their structure activity relationship (SAR).

The environmental soot and carbon blacks (CBs) cause many diseases in humans, but their underlying mechanisms of toxicity are still poorly understood. Both are formed after the incomplete combustion ...of hydrocarbons but differ in their constituents and percent carbon contents. For the first time, "Sir Percival Pott" described soot as a carcinogen, which was subsequently confirmed by many others. The existing data suggest three main types of diseases due to soot and CB exposures: cancer, respiratory diseases, and cardiovascular dysfunctions. Experimental models revealed the involvement of oxidative stress, DNA methylation, formation of DNA adducts, and Aryl hydrocarbon receptor activation as the key mechanisms of soot- and CB-induced cancers. Metals including Si, Fe, Mn, Ti, and Co in soot also contribute in the reactive oxygen species (ROS)-mediated DNA damage. Mechanistically, ROS-induced DNA damage is further enhanced by eosinophils and neutrophils
halide (Cl
and Br
) dependent DNA adducts formation. The activation of pulmonary dendritic cells, T helper type 2 cells, and mast cells is crucial mediators in the pathology of soot- or CB-induced respiratory disease. Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) were also found to modulate T cells functions in respiratory diseases. Particularly, telomerase reverse transcriptase was found to play the critical role in soot- and CB-induced cardiovascular dysfunctions. In this review, we propose integrated mechanisms of soot- and CB-induced toxicity emphasizing the role of inflammatory mediators and oxidative stress. We also suggest use of antioxidants and PUFAs as protective strategies against soot- and CB-induced disorders.

Plants in nature are constantly exposed to a variety of abiotic and biotic stresses which limits their growth and production. Enhancing crop yield and production to feed exponentially ...growing global population in a sustainable manner by reduced chemical fertilization and agrochemicals will be a big challenge. Recently, the targeted application of beneficial plant microbiome and their cocktails to counteract abiotic and biotic stress is gaining momentum and becomes an exciting frontier of research. Advances in next generation sequencing (NGS) platform, gene editing technologies, metagenomics and bioinformatics approaches allows us to unravel the entangled webs of interactions of holobionts and core microbiomes for efficiently deploying the microbiome to increase crops nutrient acquisition and resistance to abiotic and biotic stress. In this review, we focused on shaping rhizosphere microbiome of susceptible host plant from resistant plant which comprises of specific type of microbial community with multiple potential benefits and targeted CRISPR/Cas9 based strategies for the manipulation of susceptibility genes in crop plants for improving plant health. This review is significant in providing first-hand information to improve fundamental understanding of the process which helps in shaping rhizosphere microbiome.
Water quality is a big concern for the humankind as it is the most important natural resource. However, the non-controlled growth of rural and urban areas in rapidly developed countries such as India ...is affecting water quality. In this research, we pretend to assess and demonstrate the heavy-metal status of three different water bodies of Indus, Beas and Sutlej Rivers and Harike Wetland. Data on water quality from 2013 to 2017 were analyzed through multivariate statistic techniques (cluster analysis - CA - and principal component analysis - PCA) and compared among them using public water pollution indexes. The results of CA and PCA showed that Sutlej River and Harike Wetland are included in the same group, whereas Beas River formed a separate one. This may be due to the high content of Pb, Cu, and Zn in these water bodies as compared with Beas River. The Pb content of all the water bodies exceeded the limit for EPR, BIS and WHO guidelines for drinking water. The heavy-metal pollution index was also applied to the contents of different heavy metals to find which water body is more polluted, and from their results, it was found that Harike Wetland and Sutlej River are critically polluted with heavy metals.
In this paper, the feature representation of an image by CNN is used to hide the secret image into the cover image. The style of the cover image hides the content of the secret image and produce a ...stego image using Neural Style Transfer (NST) algorithm, which resembles the cover image and also contains the semantic content of secret image. The main technical contributions are to hide the content of the secret image in the in-between hidden layered style features of the cover image, which is the first of its kind in the present state-of-art-technique. Also, to recover the secret image from the stego image, destylization is done with the help of conditional generative adversarial networks (GANs) using Residual in Residual Dense Blocks (RRDBs). Further, stego images from different layer combinations of content and style features are obtained and evaluated. Evaluation is based on the visual similarity and quality loss between the cover-stego pair and the secret-reconstructed secret pair of images. From the experiments, it has been observed that the proposed algorithm has 43.95 dB Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR)), .995 Structural Similarity Index (SSIM), and .993 Visual Information Fidelity (VIF) for the ImageNet dataset. The proposed algorithm is found to be more robust against StegExpose than the traditional methods.

Self-assembly is the process of association of individual units of a material into highly arranged/ordered structures/patterns. It imparts unique properties to both inorganic and organic structures, ...so generated, via non-covalent interactions. Currently, self-assembled nanomaterials are finding a wide variety of applications in the area of nanotechnology, imaging techniques, biosensors, biomedical sciences, etc., due to its simplicity, spontaneity, scalability, versatility, and inexpensiveness. Self-assembly of amphiphiles into nanostructures (micelles, vesicles, and hydrogels) happens due to various physical interactions. Recent advancements in the area of drug delivery have opened up newer avenues to develop novel drug delivery systems (DDSs) and self-assembled nanostructures have shown their tremendous potential to be used as facile and efficient materials for this purpose. The main objective of the projected review is to provide readers a concise and straightforward knowledge of basic concepts of supramolecular self-assembly process and how these highly functionalized and efficient nanomaterials can be useful in biomedical applications. Approaches for the self-assembly have been discussed for the fabrication of nanostructures. Advantages and limitations of these systems along with the parameters that are to be taken into consideration while designing a therapeutic delivery vehicle have also been outlined. In this review, various macro- and small-molecule-based systems have been elaborated. Besides, a section on DNA nanostructures as intelligent materials for future applications is also included.

Before exploiting any plant for industrial application, it is imperative to have complete information about its biology, chemistry, and all other applications so that the potential of plant could be utilized maximally. The taxonomy, botanical description of the plant, its distribution and ecological requirement are discussed in this paper. Jatropha are reviewed. The detailed information about the presence of various chemicals including toxins in different parts of the plant is summarized. The possibilities on the exploitation of potential of plant for various applications have been explored. The information about the toxins and detoxification methods is collected and discussed. Overall, this paper gives an overview on covering the biology, chemistry, toxicity of seeds and detoxification and various industrial uses, emphasizing the benefits on the rural and urban economy.
Plants encounter various abiotic stresses due to their sessile nature which include heavy metals, salt, drought, nutrient deficiency, light intensity, pesticide contamination, as well as extreme ...temperatures. These stresses impose major constraints limiting crop production and food security worldwide. Abiotic stresses primarily reduce the photosynthetic efficiency of plants, due to their negative consequences on chlorophyll biosynthesis, performance of the photosystems, electron transport mechanisms, gas exchange parameters, and many others. A better understanding of the photochemistry of plants under these abiotic stresses can help in the development of pragmatic interventions for managing these stresses. Interestingly, in this review, we provide an overview of insight into different mechanisms affecting the photosynthetic ability of plants in relation to these abiotic factors. The present review describes how different abiotic stresses can pose deleterious impacts on plant photosynthetic machinery including cellular membranes, cell division and cell elongation, biosynthesis of photosynthetic pigments, as well as electron transport chain. It is important to understand the detrimental impacts of various abiotic stresses for better stress management because a comprehensive understanding of plant responses has pragmatic implication for remedies and management.

The rapid increase in the use of plastics and the related sustainability issues, including the depletion of global petroleum reserves, have rightly sparked interest in the use of biobased polymer ...feedstocks. Thermosets cannot be remolded, processed, or recycled, and hence cannot be reused because of their permanent molecular architecture. Vitrimers have emerged as a novel polymer family capable of bridging the difference between thermoplastic and thermosets. Vitrimers enable unique recycling strategies, however, it is still important to understand where the raw material feedstocks originate from. Transesterification vitrimers derived from renewable resources are a massive opportunity, however, limited research has been conducted in this specific family of vitrimers. This review article provides a comprehensive overview of transesterification vitrimers produced from biobased monomers. The focus is on the biomass structural suitability with dynamic covalent chemistry, as well as the viability of the synthetic methods.
Biobased vitrimers can provide a sustainable approach to replace fossil fuel‐derived thermoset plastics. This review presents a comprehensive overview of the design, synthesis, and dynamic properties of biobased vitrimeric materials with a focus on the transesterification bond exchange process. Future plans and difficulties for the development of biobased transesterification vitrimers with excellent performance are also presented.
