Under the threat of the novel coronavirus, people are compelled to contemplate some ultimate existential questions, such as life and death. This study collected texts related to the death psychology ...from Sina Weibo, and after data cleaning, a total of 3868 Weibo texts were included. Study 1 employed grounded theory from qualitative research to explore the core categories and evolutionary mechanisms of people's psychology when facing death threats in the context of the pandemic. Study 2 utilized big data mining techniques such as topic mining and semantic network analysis to validate the effectiveness of the death psychology theory developed in qualitative research. The findings demonstrate that within the "Emotion-Cognition-Behavior-Value" framework, the implications of death threats manifest in four aspects: death anxiety, death cognition, coping efficacy, and sense of meaning. As time progresses, the study of death psychology can be segmented into four distinct phases: the tranquil phase prior to lifting pandemic restrictions, the threat phase at lifting pandemic restrictions onset, the coping phase mid-lifting pandemic restrictions, and the reformative phase post-lifting pandemic restrictions. The calculated outcomes of topic mining and semantic network analysis corroborate the coding results and theories derived from the grounded theory. This reaffirms that data mining technology can be a potent tool for validating grounded theory.
Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is a rare postoperative complication that is sometimes characterized by serious motor weakness and prolonged weaning from mechanical ventilation. Although the exact ...nature of the relationship between GBS and the surgical procedure is still unclear, there is a clear increased incidence of GBS in post-surgical patients compared to non-surgical patients. GBS after surgery is unique in several ways. The course of post-surgical GBS unfolds more rapidly than in other situations where GBS develops, the condition is often more severe, and respiratory muscles are more commonly involved. Prompt diagnosis and appropriate treatment are essential, and the condition can worsen if treated inappropriately. Postoperative sedation, intubation, and restraint use make the diagnosis of GBS difficult, as the onset of symptoms of weakness or numbness in those contexts are not obvious. GBS is often misdiagnosed, being attributed to other postoperative complications, and subsequently mishandled. The lack of relevant information further obscures the clinical picture. We sought to better understand post-surgical GBS by performing an analysis of the relevant literature, focusing on clearly documenting the clinical characteristics, diagnosis, and management of GBS that emerges following surgery. We underscore the importance of physicians being aware of the possibility of GBS after major surgery and of performing a variety of laboratory clinical investigations early on in suspected cases.
The purpose of this study was to detect nutrient uptake and assimilation in woody plants subjected to growing media with some peat replaced by spent mushroom residue (SMR). Fragrant rosewood ...(Dalbergia odorifera T.C. Chen) seedlings were cultured in five types of growing media with SMR and peat in volumetric proportions of 0% (control), 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%. With the increase of SMR proportion, ammonium- and nitrate-nitrogen (N) concentrations declined but available phosphorus (P) concentration and electrical conductance both increased. Seedlings in the full SMR substrates showed obvious mortality. Seedlings in substrates with SMR in proportions higher than 25% showed symptoms of excessive N and P toxicities. The utilization efficiency for P was highest in the 25% SMR growing-media. Mineral N in substrates had a positive relationship with growth and biomass but not with glutamine synthetase activity. Available P was negatively related with acid phosphatase activity in both leaves and roots. Un-composted SMR can replace 25% of peat in growing media for fragrant rosewood seedlings, benefitting P uptake and assimilation.
Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) has been used successfully to treat a variety of gastroenterological diseases. The alterations of microbiota in mouse models of necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) ...as well as in patients suggested the possibility of treating NEC with FMT. Here we show that FMT caused an improvement in the histopathology and symptoms of NEC in WT mice, but not Grx1-/- mice. FMT eliminated O2•– production and promoted NO production in experimental NEC mice though the modulation of S-glutathionylation of eNOS (eNOS-SSG). FMT decreased the extent of TLR4-mediated proinflammatory signaling though TLR9 in the intestinal mucosa tissue. FMT also suppressed intestinal apoptosis and bacterial translocation across the intestinal barrier, which was accompanied by decreased inflammatory cytokine levels, altered bacterial microbiota, and regulated lymphocyte proportions. FMT is effective in a mouse model of NEC through the modulation of oxidative stress and reduced colon inflammation.

The distribution of soil moisture is important for modeling hydrological and climatological processes to understand the Earth energy cycle and balance. The major difficulty for soil moisture ...retrieval in vegetated areas is how to separate the individual scattering contribution of soil moisture, vegetation, and surface roughness from the backscattered radar signal. In this paper, a semi-empirical method was proposed to retrieve soil moisture in the Ruoergai prairie using single temporal Radarsat-2 data. It was formulated by integrating the advanced integral equation model (AIEM), a semi-empirical ratio vegetation model, and optimum surface roughness parameters. The AIEM was run in the forward mode to simulate the backscattering coefficient of bare soil surface. The ratio vegetation model was applied for eliminating the vegetation effect from the observed backscattering coefficient. Meanwhile, four different vegetation parameters were used to characterize the change of vegetation: leaf area index, vegetation water content, normalized difference vegetation index, and enhanced vegetation index. A global search method was used to find out the optimum surface roughness parameters, which made the relationship between the observed and retrieved soil moisture reach up to the best. The collected in situ measurements and satellite data from the Ruoergai prairie were employed to validate the feasibility and effectiveness of the introduced method. From the analysis of experiment results, the optimum surface roughness parameters had a relative change when different vegetation parameters were used to parameterize the ratio vegetation model. In addition, the root-mean-square height had a significant impact on the accuracy of soil moisture retrieval compared with correlation length. The best retrieval result was obtained when EVI was used to remove the influence of vegetation, with a correlation coefficient of 0.84 and root-mean-square error of 4.05 vol · %. Therefore, compared with other three vegetation parameters, EVI was recommended to characterize the change of vegetation in this experiment. It was evident that optimum surface roughness parameters were validated to be a promising tool for soil moisture retrieval in prairie areas using Radarsat-2 data.
There has been little investigation for the automatic extraction of power lines from aerial images due to the low resolution of aerial images in the past decades. With increasing aerial ...photogrammetric technology and sensor technology, it is possible for photogrammetrists to monitor the status of power lines. This letter analyzes the property of imaged power lines and presents an algorithm to automatically extract the power line from aerial images acquired by an aerial digital camera onboard a helicopter. This algorithm first uses a Radon transform to extract line segments of the power line, then uses the grouping method to link each segment, and finally applies the Kalman filter technology to connect the segments into an entire line. We compared our algorithm with the line mask detector method and the ratio line detector, and evaluated their performances. The experimental results demonstrated that our algorithm can successfully extract the power lines from aerial images regardless of background complexity. This presented method has successfully been applied in China National 863 project for power line surveillance, 3-D reconstruction, and modeling.
Present researches show that aluminum powders with different size show various behaviors. With the increasing of aluminum particle size, reaction rate are greatly reduced and characteristic ...temperatures are slightly increased, but the melting point of particles seems unaffected by the particle sizes. Surface oxidation of aluminum under lower temperature conditions is controlled by the diffusion resistance of oxygen through the alumina shell. However, under higher temperature conditions, particle burning is mainly controlled by the chemical reaction kinetics. Aluminum dust explosion parameters are positively related to their burning rate. However, the explosion parameters are negatively related to the ignition temperature and maximum burning rate temperature. Aluminum dust with particle size less than 5 μm and dust concentrations among 400 g/m3 to 800 g/m3 would be presenting higher explosion severity. Under lower explosion pressures conditions, γ-Al2O3 was produced. However, α-Al2O3 would be produced only under high explosion pressure condition.

The objective of this study is to delve into the underlying mechanisms between mindfulness and burnout among preschool teachers. Employing a cross-sectional research design, this study surveyed 1,980 ...Chinese preschool teachers using the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS), Preschool Teacher Dispositional Equanimity Questionnaire (PTDEQ), Empathy Scale (ME), and Maslach Burnout Inventory for Educators (MBI-ES). The results revealed a significant negative correlation between preschool teachers’ mindfulness and burnout. A mediation analysis demonstrated that dispositional equanimity served as a mediator between mindfulness and preschool teacher burnout. Furthermore, a moderation analysis indicated that empathy moderated the influence of dispositional equanimity on preschool teacher burnout. These findings suggest that mindfulness can enable preschool teachers to better cope with workplace challenges with a more peaceful mindset.
