To assess the diagnostic value of brain magnetic resonance imaging (bMRI) for the etiological diagnosis of uveitis and to establish predictive factors associated with its advantageous use.
...Retrospective study on all patients with de novo uveitis who were referred to our tertiary hospital and who underwent a bMRI between 2003 and 2018.
bMRI was contributive in 19 out of 402 cases (5%), among patients with a contributive bMRI, 68% had neurological signs. Univariate analysis established that neurological signs (p < .001), granulomatous uveitis (p = .003), retinal vasculitis (p = .002), and intermediate uveitis (p < .001) were all significantly associated with a contributive bMRI. Multivariate analysis confirms the significant association of neurological signs (p < .001) and intermediate uveitis (p = .01).
bMRI appears to be a relevant exam in specific cases; intermediate/posterior uveitis or panuveitis accompanied by neurological signs, retinal vasculitis, or in patients older than 40, to rule out an oculocerebral lymphoma.

The relationship between the histological pattern and survival in systemic sclerosis-associated interstitial lung disease (SSc-ILD) is unclear. In patients with SSc-ILD, we investigated whether the ...clinical data obtained by non-invasive examinations could be used for prognostic evaluation, and attempted to clarify whether complicating acute exacerbation (AE) and the selection of pharmacological therapy were associated with survival.
Thirty-five patients with SSc-ILD, who had not been diagnosed by surgical lung biopsy were analyzed, retrospectively. The HRCT findings were evaluated by 2 radiologists and classified into "CT-UIP" or "CT-inconsistent with UIP" patterns based on whole lung interpretations. HRCT scores were calculated based on the extent of abnormality evidenced by HRCT. The log-rank test was used to determine variables, including clinical parameters and histories.
Twelve (34%) of the 35 patients died during a median follow-up period of approximately 7.9 years. The log-rank test showed that a higher mortality was associated with higher age, a CT-UIP pattern, a higher score for ground-glass attenuation with traction bronchiectasis on HRCT, and complicating AE, whereas a lower mortality was significantly associated with the use of immunosuppressants. A CT-UIP pattern was significantly associated with a higher incidence of later AE.
Treatment with immunosuppressants was associated with a longer survival, and complicating AE is a predictor of shortened survival in SSc-ILD patients. Among the clinical parameters determined by non-invasive examinations, a CT-UIP pattern and the extent of fibrotic lesions on HRCT, but not a histological pattern of UIP, may be predictors of shortened survival.
La compétence Apprécier des oeuvres littéraires du Programme de formation de l’école québécoisepour le primaire constitue un contexte tout désigné pour intégrer en classe les albums et les ...contes(MEQ, 2001/MELS, 2006). Or, il y a quelques années, seulement un enseignant du primaire sur cinqdisait travailler souvent la compétence littéraire (MELS, 2007) et, pour ce faire, les oeuvres littérairesétaient encore peu sollicitées (Giasson et St-Laurent, 1999). Peu de données, en particulier au Québec,permettaient alors de connaitre la place de la littérature à l’école, les pratiques des enseignants etles difficultés qu’ils rencontrent à l’occasion de l’exploitation des oeuvres littéraires, dont les albumset les contes (Dezutter et al., 2007). Afin de combler en partie cette absence d’enquêtes récentes ence domaine et dans le but de mieux comprendre les pratiques d’enseignement et les conceptionsd’enseignants à propos de la lecture/appréciation des oeuvres littéraires, nous avons mené dans lecadre de notre recherche doctorale une enquête par questionnaire auprès d’enseignants québécois des trois cycles du primaire (N=518). Nous poursuivions ainsi trois objectifs : 1) identifier et décrire lespratiques déclarées d’enseignement relatives aux activités, au matériel et à l’évaluation; 2) identifieret décrire les conceptions d’enseignants du primaire à propos des prescriptions ministérielles, de lalecture/appréciation et de son enseignement; 3) comparer ces pratiques et ces conceptions selon lescycles. Les principaux résultats montrent que les enseignants québécois du primaire disent que lematériel utilisé chaque semaine pour leur enseignement de la lecture/appréciation est dorénavantconstitué principalement d’oeuvres littéraires intégrales (66,2 %) de formes/genres variés surtoutnarratifs (album : 81,3 %; roman : 61,2 %; conte : 55,3 %). En ce qui concerne spécifiquement l’albumet le conte, les enseignants du premier cycle du primaire (97,1%, p=0,00) déclarent davantage seservir des albums que leurs collègues des deuxième (78,5%) et troisième cycles (64,3%); le conte estexploité plus souvent au premier cycle (67,9%, p=0,00) qu’au deuxième (58,3%) et qu’au troisièmecycle (36,9%), mais dans une moindre mesure que l’album. Dans cet article, nous présentons, à partirde ces résultats, les pratiques d’enseignement déclarées autour de ces deux formes/genres littéraires, etce, sur un continuum du premier au troisième cycle du primaire.Mots clés : pratiques d’enseignement, album, conte, lecture/appréciation, Québec

Abstract The genus Helicobacter contains more than 35 species. Helicobacter pylori is the most important in terms of human health. Discovery of these helicobacters gives opportunity to understand the ...relationship between these bacteria which colonise the animal and human gut and their effect on the host. Infection with Helicobacter spp. and the associated diseases in their hosts allow us to study the pathogenic mechanisms. The potential zoonotic pathway for the transmission of Helicobacter spp. and epidemiology of this genus, deserve more attention to these emerging pathogens.
Citrullinated proteins formed by peptidyl arginine deiminases (PADIs) deimination of arginine residues in proteins are of particular interest in arthritis pathogenesis. Polymorphisms on the PADI-4 ...gene lead to the malfunctioning of PADIs leading to the onset of arthritis.
Thepresent study was conducted to determine the polymorphisms on the PADI-4 gene and their association with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) as well as Osteoarthritis (OA).
To achieve the above-mentioned objective a case-control study was conducted. Blood samples were collected from RA, OA, and control subjects. DNA was extracted from each blood sample by modified organic method and was quantified as well as qualified by DNA gel electrophoresis and Nanodrop. Patients were tested for rs874881, rs11203366, rs11203367, rs2240336, rs2240337, rs2240339, rs1748033 and rs2240340 polymorphic sites by amplifying targeted regions through PCR with site-specific primers. Genotyping was performed by Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism and direct sequencing method. Mutations were identified by analyzing sequences on BioEdit software. Allelic, genetic, and multiple site analysis were performed by SHEsis and PLINK software. Change in the amino acid sequence was identified by MEGA 6.0 software.
Polymorphisms were identified on all targeted polymorphic sites except rs2240337 in both RA and OA individuals. In addition, two novel mutations were also identified in exon 4 identified i-e SCV000804840: c.218T > C and SCV000807675: c.241G > T. All the SNPs except rs11203366 were found to be significantly associated with RA at an allelic level whereas all SNP’s have been significant risk factors in the onset of OA. At genotypic level rs874881, rs11203366, rs2240339, SCV000804840 and SCV000807675 were significantly associated to RA development whereas rs874881, rs11203366, rs11203367, rs2240339, SCV000804840 and SCV000807675 were genetic risk factors in OA onset. Haplotype analysis indicated that GACCACGCC and GACCACGCT were highly significant in disease development. Polymorphisms identified altered the functioning of PADIs by altering their amino acid sequence.
In conclusion, it was found that PADI-4 gene polymorphism was not only involved in the onset of RA but was also found to be a significant risk factor in OA onset.
Abstract A 65-year-old man who was diagnosed as acute type B aortic dissection with ulcer-like projection (ULP) was admitted to our hospital. This patient had experienced enlargement of ULP during ...his follow-up. We retrospectively visualized the persistent vortex flow in the ULP and calculated the amount of blood flow by using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). This method will be useful to determine whether we perform thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) for the type B aortic dissection patients with ULP. Further experience should be indispensable for clinical application.
