Building on prospect theory, construal level theory, and corporate social responsibility literature, this study investigated how messaging framing strategies impact buffet diners' food waste and ...repatronage intentions using three experimental studies. Findings suggested that framing strategies (gain vs. loss) and point of reference (self vs. others vs. environment) interactively influence diners' behavioral intentions through corporate social responsibility (CSR). In particular, a gain-framing strategy with self or other-referencing points could enhance perceived CSR and repatronage intentions. However, when the referencing point changes to environment, gain-framed and loss-framed messages result in similar levels of perceived CSR, food waste reduction intentions, and repatronage intentions. Evidence also suggests that the "out of sight, out of mind" phenomenon could occur when it comes to food waste prevention. This study contributes to the literature by delineating the mediation mechanism of perceived CSR between message framing and diners' behavioral intentions. It also shed light on restaurants' food waste management, with implications for designing effective communication messages to enhance diners' engagement in food waste prevention.
Flavonoids are a class of plant polyphenols found in a variety of fruits, vegetables, teas, and flowers. These compounds are present in many common dietary sources, such as green tea, wine, ...pomegranates, and turmeric, and possess a broad spectrum of biological activity due to their unique chemical structure. Flavonoids exhibit antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and anticarcinogenic properties that have been widely studied as potential therapeutics for diseases ranging from Alzheimer’s disease to liver disease. There is currently significant research into therapeutic benefits of flavonoids in various skin conditions as these compounds have been shown to absorb ultraviolet radiation and modulate cancer and inflammation signaling pathways. This review discusses the current research in the application of flavonoids in skin diseases (e.g., prevention of premature photoaging, prevention and treatment of skin cancer, and promotion of skin wound healing) and their proposed mechanisms to provide a basis for future basic and translational research of flavonoids as potential drugs in the prevention and treatment of skin disorders.
The COVID-19 pandemic has hit the global tourism and hospitality industry with drastic results. Hotels have been experiencing unprecedented challenges, leaving many to temporarily or permanently ...closed. Employing a case study approach supported by both quantitative and qualitative analysis, this study examined how two hotels in Oklahoma City had coped with challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, from day to day operations, health and safety measures to marketing, human resources and cost-saving strategies. The study contributes to the tourism crisis and disaster literature by providing micro-level coping strategies, a literature gap that needs to be addressed, particularly under the current pandemic.
The second-order nonlinear susceptibility, χ(2), in the Stern layer and the total interfacial potential drop, Φ(0)tot, across the oxide:water interface are estimated from SHG amplitude and phase ...measurements for divalent cations (Mg2+, Ca2+, Sr2+, and Ba2+) at the silica:water interface at pH 5.8 and various ionic strengths. We find that interfacial structure and total potential depend strongly on ion valency. We observe statistically significant differences between the experimentally determined χ(2) value for NaCl and that of the alkali earth series but smaller differences between ions of the same valency in that series. These differences are particularly pronounced at intermediate salt concentrations, which we attribute to the influence of hydration structure in the Stern layer. Furthermore, we corroborate the differences by examining the effects of anion substitution (SO4 2– for Cl–). Finally, we identify that hysteresis in measuring the reversibility of ion adsorption and desorption at fused silica in forward and reverse titrations manifests itself both in Stern layer structure and in total interfacial potential for some of the salts, most notably for CaCl2 and MgSO4 but less so for BaCl2 and NaCl.
Previous studies suggest that atopic dermatitis (AD) is associated with cognitive impairment in children, but these studies have relied primarily on neurodevelopmental diagnoses (rather than ...symptoms) as proxy measures of cognitive function. It remains unknown if certain subpopulations of children with AD are at greater risk of cognitive impairment.
To examine the association of AD with symptoms of cognitive impairment (difficulty in learning or memory) among US children and whether this association varies according to the presence or absence of neurodevelopmental comorbidities (attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder ADHD, developmental delay, or learning disability).
This cross-sectional study used 2021 data from the US National Health Interview Survey collected on children aged 17 years or younger without intellectual disability or autism. The presence of AD was based on a parent or adult caregiver's report indicating either a current diagnosis of AD or a previous medical confirmation of AD by a health care professional.

Among the weighted total of 69 732 807 participants, 9 223 013 (13.2%) had AD. Compared with children without AD, children with AD were more likely to experience difficulties with learning (10.8% 95% CI, 7.8%-15.8% vs 5.9% 95% CI, 5.1%-6.9%; P < .001) and difficulties with memory (11.1% 95% CI, 8.0%-15.9% vs 5.8% 95% CI, 4.9%-6.9%; P < .001). In multivariable logistic regression models adjusted for sociodemographic factors, asthma, food allergies, and seasonal allergies or hay fever, AD was associated with increased odds of difficulties in learning (adjusted odds ratio AOR, 1.77; 95% CI, 1.28-2.45) and memory (AOR, 1.69; 95% CI, 1.19-2.41). In analyses stratified by neurodevelopmental comorbidities, AD was associated with 2- to 3-fold greater odds of memory difficulties among children with any neurodevelopmental disorder (AOR, 2.26; 95% CI, 1.43-3.57), including ADHD (AOR, 2.90; 95% CI, 1.60-5.24) or learning disabilities (AOR, 2.04; 95% CI, 1.04-4.00). However, AD was not associated with learning or memory difficulties among children without neurodevelopmental conditions.
Results of this cross-sectional study suggest that pediatric AD was generally associated with greater odds of reported difficulties in learning and memory. However, this association was primarily limited to children with neurodevelopmental comorbidities, such as ADHD or learning disabilities. These findings may improve the risk stratification of children with AD for cognitive impairments and suggest that evaluation for cognitive difficulties should be prioritized among children with AD and neurodevelopmental disorders.
Owing to the service-oriented nature of hospitality organizations, organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) has drawn increasing attention from hospitality researchers over the last two decades. ...Taking a systematic and meta-analytical approach, this study presents a comprehensive picture of the status, conceptual and measurement frameworks, fundamental theories, method, antecedents, consequences, and meta-analytical relationships among popular variables. In addition, the study points out research gaps and future directions for hospitality OCB research, drawing on comparison with mainstream OCB literature. In particular, there is a need for more holistic, reliable, and validated OCB frameworks and measures for different hospitality contexts; a need for research on the consequences of OCB at the level of customers, coworkers, and employees; and more rigorous research methodologies. The findings further suggest that the unique characteristics of hospitality organizations not only provide meaningful contexts but also broaden and deepen the scope of OCB theories.

Diffusion imaging is a critical component in the pursuit of developing a better understanding of the human brain. Recent technical advances promise enabling the advancement in the quality of data ...that can be obtained. In this review the context for different approaches relative to the Human Connectome Project are compared. Significant new gains are anticipated from the use of high‐performance head gradients. These gains can be particularly large when the high‐performance gradients are employed together with ultrahigh magnetic fields. Transmit array designs are critical in realizing high accelerations in diffusion‐weighted (d)MRI acquisitions, while maintaining large field of view (FOV) coverage, and several techniques for optimal signal‐encoding are now available. Reconstruction and processing pipelines that precisely disentangle the acquired neuroanatomical information are established and provide the foundation for the application of deep learning in the advancement of dMRI for complex tissues.

Building on three theoretical perspectives, Alchian–Allen theorem, sunk cost fallacy, and mental account theory, this study proposed and tested a model on Chinese outbound travelers’ impulse shopping ...behaviors as determined by sunk cost, information confusion, after-sale risk, and anticipated regret (both downward and upward). Using a sample of 314 Chinese outbound travelers, findings of the study suggested that sunk cost, after-sale risk, and downward anticipated regret significantly influence travelers’ impulsive shopping, with downward anticipated regret mediating the relationship between information confusion and impulsive purchase and between sunk cost and impulsive purchase. The study contributes to existing theories and literature for a better understanding of how sunk cost influences outbound travelers’ impulsive shopping behavior from three theoretical perspectives, particularly in a Chinese cultural context. The findings of the study also have important implications for destination stakeholders.
