Vertebrate ichnological associations recorded in Middle Miocene successions were unknown in South America. During that time, South America was isolated from other continents and had a unique endemic ...fauna and flora. The lower Vinchina succession occurred between 15.6 and 12.7 Ma and records the footprints of highly specialized mammals, reptiles, and birds for the first time. To identify all footprint producers, we focused on anatomical traits of the appendicular skeleton represented on the footprints together with body size estimations of the producers as body mass and the apparent trunk length (GAD). Carnivoripeda sudamericana nov. isp. reveals a weasel-like producer of ∼1 kg and a trunk length of 19–26 cm most likely attributed to metatherian carnivores (Sparassodonta). They represent the oldest carnivore footprints in South America. Small bipedal rodent-like mammals of ∼280 g using a jumping gait (Morphotype A) are interpreted as produced by highly specialized South American marsupials, argyrolagids, whose footprints were unknown until now. Other mammalian footprints recorded are Tacheria troyana most likely produced by dinomyid caviomorph rodents. They represent animals of ∼16 kg and a trunk length of 48–55 cm, like living dinomyids. Subcircular to oval structures (Morphotype B) seems to be produced by medium-sized ungulates, while stepping in cohesive and plastic soupy sediments. cf. Chelonipus torquatus suggests small freshwater turtles (Chelidae or Podocnemididae), of ∼400 g consistent with a trackmaker of carapace size of ∼9 cm. Aviadactyla vialovi was most likely produced by a small shorebird (Scopolacidae) of ∼40 g. All footprints are preserved on crevasse splay deposits of anastomosing fluvial systems together with meniscate feeding (Taenidium barretti) and simple dwelling trace fossils (Palaeophycus tubularis) produced by insects and are an example of the Scoyenia Ichnofacies.

The effectiveness of
Methylobacterium symbioticum
in maize and strawberry plants was measured under different doses of nitrogen fertilisation. The biostimulant effect of the bacteria was observed in ...maize and strawberry plants treated with the biological inoculant under different doses of nitrogen fertiliser compared to untreated plants (control). It was found that bacteria allowed a 50 and 25% decrease in the amount of nitrogen applied in maize and strawberry crops, respectively, and the photosynthetic capacity increased compared with the control plant under all nutritional conditions. A decrease in nitrate reductase activity in inoculated maize plants indicated that the bacteria affects the metabolism of the plant. In addition, inoculated strawberry plants grown with a 25% reduction in nitrogen had a higher concentration of nitrogen in leaves than control plants under optimal nutritional conditions. Methylobacterium symbioticum
provide an additional supply of nitrogen.
In this work we present new avian fossil footprints preserved in the Vinchina Formation at del Yeso Creek, La Rioja, Argentina. To understand the morphological variation of very similar footprints ...not organizaed in trackways, we use statistical analyses combined with taphonomic analyses, resulting in a more refined classification of the ichnotaxa. Accordingly, the monospecific ichnogenus Phoenicopterichnum rector Aramayo and Manera de Blanco 1987 assigned to flamingoes, has two new ichnospecies, P. lucioi isp. nov. and P. vinchinaensis isp. nov. In addition, footprints produced by anatids, Anatipeda ips, are also reported. The predictive clustering analysis allow us to propose new ichnospecies by identifying which variables are of statistical significance to differentiate morphotypes. We defined two taphonomic groups and plotted it on the cluster analysis, inferring that the taphonomic input do not influence the morphologic analysis. Finally, we recommend testing statistically which variables are in fact of more influence in distinguishing morphotypes and/or ichnotaxa. That increase the value of paleobiological and/or ichnotaxonomical interpretations. By using these tools, we can achieve a better identification of footprint morphologies and consequently their trackmakers and the assignation of ichnotaxa to help address biological diversity in the past.
Equivalence – Equivalence responding (Barnes et al., 1997), based on derived or non-explicitly trained relational responding, supports a behaviour-analytic model of analogical reasoning. Conditional ...discriminations are the most common procedure used to train its prerequisites. In this exploratory work we test Vaughan’s (1988) simple discrimination procedure instead to derive Eq-Eq responses in children. Two factors were assessed: type of reinforcer used (primary or secondary) and age of participants (9-10 or 12-13 years). The procedure successfully leaded to the derivation of equivalence – equivalence responses, and both factors influenced the results: selecting older children and applying primary reinforcement leaded to faster learning and better results in the equivalence – equivalence test. No interaction between factors was found. This training procedure can provide a new way to investigate the behavioural prerequisites of this important ability
La respuesta de equivalencia – equivalencia (Barnes, Hegarty y Smeets, 1997), basada en la derivación sin entrenamiento explícito de respuestas relacionales, ha servido para fundamentar un modelo analítico – funcional de razonamiento analógico. Tradicionalmente, el procedimiento utilizado para la derivación de estas respuestas se ha basado en discriminaciones condicionales. En este trabajo se explora la utilización del procedimiento de partición para la formación de clases de equivalencia funcional de Vaughan (1988) como base para la derivación de estas relaciones más complejas en niños, investigando el papel del tipo de reforzador utilizado (primario o secundario) y la edad de los participantes (9-10 años o 12-13 años). Los resultados del experimento indican que el procedimiento de partición da lugar a la derivación de relaciones de equivalencia – equivalencia, con influencia de ambos factores: Los niños de mayor edad, y aquellos a los que se aplica reforzamiento primario aprenden la tarea en menos ensayos y derivan en mayor proporción la respuesta relacional.
No se encontró interacción entre los factores. El procedimiento de partición puede aportar una nueva vía de investigación para esclarecer os prerrequisitos conductuales de esta importante habilidad.

COVID-19-related inflammation, endothelial dysfunction, and coagulopathy may increase the bleeding risk and lower the efficacy of revascularization treatments in patients with acute ischemic stroke ...(AIS). We aimed to evaluate the safety and outcomes of revascularization treatments in patients with AIS and COVID-19.
This was a retrospective multicenter cohort study of consecutive patients with AIS receiving intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) and/or endovascular treatment (EVT) between March 2020 and June 2021 tested for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection. With a doubly robust model combining propensity score weighting and multivariate regression, we studied the association of COVID-19 with intracranial bleeding complications and clinical outcomes. Subgroup analyses were performed according to treatment groups (IVT-only and EVT).
Of a total of 15,128 included patients from 105 centers, 853 (5.6%) were diagnosed with COVID-19; of those, 5,848 (38.7%) patients received IVT-only and 9,280 (61.3%) EVT (with or without IVT). Patients with COVID-19 had a higher rate of symptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage (SICH) (adjusted OR 1.53; 95% CI 1.16-2.01), symptomatic subarachnoid hemorrhage (SSAH) (OR 1.80; 95% CI 1.20-2.69), SICH and/or SSAH combined (OR 1.56; 95% CI 1.23-1.99), 24-hour mortality (OR 2.47; 95% CI 1.58-3.86), and 3-month mortality (OR 1.88; 95% CI 1.52-2.33). Patients with COVID-19 also had an unfavorable shift in the distribution of the modified Rankin score at 3 months (OR 1.42; 95% CI 1.26-1.60).
Patients with AIS and COVID-19 showed higher rates of intracranial bleeding complications and worse clinical outcomes after revascularization treatments than contemporaneous non-COVID-19 patients receiving treatment. Current available data do not allow direct conclusions to be drawn on the effectiveness of revascularization treatments in patients with COVID-19 or to establish different treatment recommendations in this subgroup of patients with ischemic stroke. Our findings can be taken into consideration for treatment decisions, patient monitoring, and establishing prognosis.

5-fluorouracil (5-FU) is an antineoplastic drug used to treat colorectal cancer, but it causes, among other adverse effects, diarrhea and mucositis, as well as enteric neuropathy, as shown in ...experimental animals. It might also cause neuropathic pain and alterations in visceral sensitivity, but this has not been studied in either patients or experimental animals. Cannabinoids have antimotility and analgesic effects and may alleviate 5-FU-induced adverse effects. Our aim was to evaluate the effects of the cannabinoid agonist WIN 55,212-2 on neuropathic and visceral pain induced by a non-diarrheagenic dose of 5-FU. Male Wistar rats received a dose of 5-FU (150 mg/kg, ip) and gastrointestinal motility, colonic sensitivity, gut wall structure and tactile sensitivity were evaluated. WIN 55,212-2 (WIN) was administered to evaluate its effect on somatic (50–100 µg ipl; 1 mg/kg, ip) and visceral (1 mg/kg, ip) sensitivity. The cannabinoid tetrad was used to assess the central effects of WIN (1 mg/kg, ip). 5-FU decreased food intake and body weight gain, produced mucositis and thermal hyperalgesia, but these effects were reduced afterwards, and were not accompanied by diarrhea. Tactile mechanical allodynia was also evident and persisted for 15 days. Interestingly, it was alleviated by WIN. 5-FU tended to increase colonic sensitivity whereas WIN reduced the abdominal contractions induced by increasing intracolonic pressure in both control and 5-FU-treated animals. Importantly, the alleviating effects of WIN against those induced by 5-FU were not accompanied by any effect in the cannabinoid tetrad. The activation of the peripheral cannabinoid system may be useful to alleviate neuropathic and visceral pain associated with antitumoral treatment.
Abstract Serotonin 5-HT 6 receptor has been proposed as a promising therapeutic target for cognition enhancement though the development of new antagonists is still needed to validate these molecules ...as a drug class for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and other pathologies associated with memory deficiency. As part of our efforts to target the 5-HT 6 receptor, new benzimidazole-based compounds have been designed and synthesized. Site-directed mutagenesis and homology models show the importance of a halogen bond interaction between a chlorine atom of the new class of 5-HT 6 receptor antagonists identified herein and a backbone carbonyl group in transmembrane domain 4. In vitro pharmacological characterization of 5-HT 6 receptor antagonist 7 indicates high affinity and selectivity over a panel of receptors including 5-HT 2B subtype and hERG channel, which suggests no major cardiac issues. Compound 7 exhibited in vivo procognitive activity (1 mg/kg, ip) in the novel object recognition task as a model of memory deficit.
