An analysis of the World Health Organization terminology for disability indicates the influence of the social model of disability in the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and ...Health. This theoretical framework should guide any translations of the document. In Brazil, the document was translated as Classificação Internacional de Funcionalidade, Incapacidade e Saúde. We argue that more appropriate than translating disability as "incapacidade" and impairments as "deficiências" would be to use the term "deficiência" for disability and "lesão" for impairment. Considering the normative impact of a WHO document for social policy and international research, the translation should accurately reflect the concepts and their theoretical basis.
Violence involving adolescents today is a public health problem present in various social spaces, including schools. This study had the aim of describing and analyzing the process of coping with ...violence in schools from the perspectives of different players within the school community. There were 27 participants in the study, including managers, teachers, students, general service assistants and parents of students at a public school. Data were gathered through semi-structured interviews and, after transcription, these data were analyzed through content analysis. It was found that the procedures adopted by the different players in the school, in cases of violence, expressed the difficulties. The strategies related to the experiences and roles played by each of them. The potential to construct and strengthen dialogue between the different players of the school community and within an intersectoral coping network was shown. Keywords: Violence. School healthcare. Adolescent. Intersectoral action. Atualmente, a violencia envolvendo adolescentes configura-se como um problema de saude publica presente em diferentes espacos sociais, inclusive na escola. Este estudo tem como objetivo descrever e analisar o processo de enfrentamento da violencia escolar na perspectiva dos diferentes atores de uma comunidade escolar. Participaram do estudo 27 atores, entre: gestores, professores, alunos, auxiliares de servicos gerais e pais de alunos de uma escola publica. Os dados foram coletados por meio de entrevistas semiestruturadas e analisados por intermedio de analise de conteudo depois de transcritas. Identifica-se que os procedimentos adotados na escola, em casos de violencia, pelos diferentes atores, expressam as dificuldades e as estrategias relacionadas as experiencias e aos papeis desempenhados por cada um. Aponta-se a potencialidade da construcao e fortalecimento do dialogo entre os diferentes atores da comunidade escolar e de uma rede de enfrentamento intersetorial. Palavras-chave: Violencia. Se senala el potencial de la construccion y del fortalecimiento del dialogo entre los diferentes actores de la comunidad escolar y de una red de enfrentamiento intersectorial. The use of fire as a land tool management is a common practice in the agricultural area. This practice requires a lot of care to avoid forest fires and uncontrollable fires. The uncontrollable fires ...can reach plantations, pastures and improvements. The objective of this work was to evaluate the fire management patterns and economic impacts of the fire management in the country areas in the region of Chapada dos Veadeiros, in the city of Cavalcante, Goias. The data collection was made by means of direct interviews, burnt areas, improvements damages and costs evaluation. Fifty agricultural producers used the fire as a tool of farming handling. The first stage of the data collection was carried out during 2003. Information on the size of burnt area, damages and investments in wildfire prevention was collected. The second survey, mode with the same 50 land owners, was carried out in 2004 dry station. The data of 2003 and 2004 was compared. Results showed that the use of fire, in such a place, causes damages for those land owners who use the fire as a land management tool and for land owners who do not use it. The lack of prevention activities and fire control approaches are the main causes of uncrontrolled burnts in Chapada dos Veadeiros.

To analyze the perceptions of adolescent public school students about drugs.
Qualitative approach of focus groups with 16 adolescent students. The data collected were analyzed by means of content ...analysis, leading to the following categories: meaning of drugs; living with drug use; opinions, beliefs and attitudes toward drug use; and preventing drug abuse in adolescence.
The adolescent students know about some drugs, and associate their use with delinquent and criminal behavior. The students identified factors that lead to drug abuse, such as easy access, use by family and friends, idleness, dropping out of school and the characteristic vulnerability of adolescence.
the results point to the need for educational activities in the context of where the adolescents live, including school, community and family environments, to support and to minimize their vulnerability.
Estudo descritivo de abordagem qualitativa com o objetivo de analisar as perspectivas de dor do parto normal de primigestas e suas relações com o contexto sociocultural e de assistência pré-natal. ...Primigestas de uma maternidade pública de Goiânia-GO, Brasil foram entrevistadas no terceiro trimestre de gestação, e suas falas, analisadas pelo Método de Interpretação de Sentidos. As dez participantes apresentaram-se com faixa etária entre 18 e 31 anos e gestação normal. Por meio da retratação social da dor do parto normal, ora como fenômeno natural inerente ao parto, ora como fenômeno de sofrimento para a mulher, as primigestas construíram percepções e sentimentos ambíguos. Mesmo assim, elas sustentaram suas expectativas no sentido da dor como fenômeno natural inerente ao parto, com a perspectiva de ter uma vivência parturitiva saudável e satisfatória. Estes resultados podem subsidiar ações educativas no pré-natal que favoreçam um olhar direcionado à integralidade da mulher como agente do parto.
Estudio descriptivo de abordaje cualitativo con el objetivo de analizar las perspectivas de dolor del parto normal de primerizas y sus relaciones con el contexto socio-cultural y de asistencia prenatal. Las primerizas de una maternidad pública de Goiânia-GO, Brasil fueron entrevistadas en el tercer trimestre de gestación y sus declaraciones fueron analizadas por el Método de Interpretación de Sentidos. Las diez participantes se presentaron con edad entre 18 y 31 años en gestación normal. Por medio de la retractación social del dolor del parto normal, ya sea como fenómeno natural inherente al parto, o como fenómeno de sufrimiento para la mujer, las primerizas construyeron percepciones y sentimientos ambiguos. Mismo así, ellas han sustentado sus expectativas en el sentido del dolor como fenómeno natural inherente al parto, con la perspectiva de tener una vivencia durante el parto saludable y satisfactoria. Estos resultados pueden subsidiar acciones educativas en el prenatal que favorezcan una mirada hacia la integralidad de la mujer como agente del parto.
This qualitative and descriptive study aims at analyzing perspectives on normal labor pain of primigravid and their relationships with the social-cultural context, as well as the antenatal care. Primigravid from a Public Maternity Hospital in Goiânia-Goiás, Brazil, were interviewed during the third quarter of pregnancy and their speeches were assessed through the use of the Method of Interpretation of Meanings. The ten participants presented normal pregnancy and they were between 18 and 31 years old. From the primigravid interviews emerged ambiguous perceptions and feelings, either as a natural phenomenon inherent to childbirth or as a suffering phenomenon. Notwithstanding, they supported their expectations concerning pain as a natural phenomenon regarding labor, with the perspective of having a healthy and satisfactory childbirth experience. These outcomes can subsidize educating actions in the antenatal period favoring a view towards women´s integrality as childbirth agents.

Based on 31 articles of the Portfolio, we could identify the Public Administration Review journals, Journal of Policy Analysis and Management, Public Administration and Australian Journal of Public Administration as the most relevant by the number of publications of Portfolio. Of the 59 authors, two each have two publications: Carolyn J. Heinrich and Donald P. Moynihan . Agency theory was the most used by the authors as the basis of Performance Evaluation. The studies used the Public Policy Performance Assessment to analyze compliance, or not, indicators and process goals. The identified gaps were little occurrence of research that focus on the theory of stakeholders and surveys measuring the impact and the effectiveness of public policies. For the advancement of research related to the evaluation of the Public Policy Assessment, suggest the extension of studies that target all stakeholders and impact assessment of public policies, with a view to proposing improvements of government actions.

A presente pesquisa objetiva identificar o que a literatura cientifica internacional apresenta sobre o tema Avaliacao do Desempenho de Politicas Publicas, possibilitando a construcao de conhecimentos nos pesquisadores e a identificacao de lacunas para futuras pesquisas sobre o tema. Para isso, esta pesquisa, com abordagem qualitativa, utilizou a ferramenta ProKnow-C para a selecao e analise das caracteristicas definidas pelos autores. Com base nos 31 artigos do Portfolio Bibliografico (PB), foi possivel identificar os periodicos Public Administration Review, Journal of Policy Analysis and Management, Public Administration e Australian Journal of Public Administration como os mais relevantes pelo numero de publicacoes do PB. Dos 59 autores, dois possuem duas publicacoes cada: Carolyn J. Heinrich e Donald P. Moynihan. A teoria da agencia foi a mais utilizada pelos autores quanto ao alicerce da Avaliacao de Desempenho (AD). Os estudos utilizaram a Avaliacao do Desempenho de Politicas Publicas para analise do cumprimento, ou nao, de indicadores e metas de processo. As lacunas identificadas foram a pouca ocorrencia de pesquisas que tenham como foco a teoria dos stakeholders e de pesquisas que mecam o impacto e a efetividade das politicas publicas. Para o avanco das pesquisas relacionadas a Avaliacao do Desempenho de Politicas Publicas, sugere-se a ampliacao de estudos que englobem todas as partes interessadas e a avaliacao de impacto das politicas publicas, com vistas a propor melhorias das acoes governamentais. Teoria de la agencia fue la mas utilizada por los autores como el fundamento de Evaluacion del Desempeno (AD). Los estudios utilizaron la Evaluacion de Desempeno Politicas Publicas para analizar el cumplimiento, o no, los indicadores y las metas de proceso. Brechas identificadas fueron la baja incidencia de la investigacion que se centran en la teoria de las partes interesadas y los estudios de impacto y la eficacia de las politicas publicas. Para el avance de la investigacion relacionada con la evaluacion del rendimiento de Politicas Publicas, sugieren la extension de los estudios que se dirigen a todas las partes interesadas y evaluacion de impacto de las politicas publicas, con el fin de proponer mejoras de las acciones del gobierno. We provide a new theory for nodewise regression when the residuals from a fitted factor model are used. We apply our results to the analysis of the consistency of Sharpe ratio estimators when there ...are many assets in a portfolio. We allow for an increasing number of assets as well as time observations of the portfolio. Since the nodewise regression is not feasible due to the unknown nature of idiosyncratic errors, we provide a feasible-residual-based nodewise regression to estimate the precision matrix of errors which is consistent even when number of assets, p, exceeds the time span of the portfolio, n. In another new development, we also show that the precision matrix of returns can be estimated consistently, even with an increasing number of factors and p>n. We show that: (1) with p>n, the Sharpe ratio estimators are consistent in global minimum-variance and mean-variance portfolios; and (2) with p>n, the maximum Sharpe ratio estimator is consistent when the portfolio weights sum to one; and (3) with p<<n, the maximum-out-of-sample Sharpe ratio estimator is consistent.
