The aim of this paper is to consider a non-autonomous predator-prey-like system, with a Gompertz growth law for the prey. By introducing random variations in both prey birth and predator death rates, ...a stochastic model for the predator-prey-like system in a random environment is proposed and investigated. The corresponding Fokker-Planck equation is solved to obtain the joint probability density for the prey and predator populations and the marginal probability densities. The asymptotic behavior of the predator-prey stochastic model is also analyzed.

Heterodera goettingiana is a major pest for pea crop. H. goettingiana characterised by the induction of hypersensitive cell death and induction of LOX activity, mRNA and fatty acid hydroperoxides. In contrast, in susceptible pea roots infected with nematodes the induction of LOX activity, mRNA and fatty acid hydroperoxides was less consistent and delayed and no cell death was observed. A single polypeptide, with an apparent molecular mass of 96 kDa, was identified in both resistant and susceptible either uninfected or infected pea roots. Subcellular localisation showed that immunogold labelling was present in the cytoplasm, vacuoles, and plastids of differentiating parenchyma cells of uninfected and infected roots. Labelling increased weakly in differentiating cells of the feeding sites (syncytia) in susceptible pea at 72 h after infection, and was of greater magnitude in resistant tissues. Our results suggest that LOXs might have a role in root-nematode interaction and in resistance mechanisms.
Capsular correction is an important part of the repair of hallux abducto valgus. In this paper, the authors discuss the tear-drop method of capsular repair--a method that can be used in all hallux ...valgus corrections, either alone or in conjunction with the dorsolinear capsulotomy and repair. They believe the tear-drop method has many advantages, among which is the fact that severe splinting and/or casting is not needed and the patient can walk in a surgical shoe almost immediately after surgery. Excellent results were obtained in a high percentage of their 288 cases.
