Shodno tome, spoznaja o važnosti podržavanja kvalitete života i u osoba s neizlječivim bolestima potaknula je brojna istraživanja o prikladnim interdisciplinarnim pristupima u cilju ublažavanja boli i poboljšanja psihofizičkog i socijalnog statusa u oboljelih.
kognitivne, emocionalne i interpersonalne aspekte osobnosti u cilju poticanja mehanizama suočavanja i adaptivnih životnih potencijala osobe.
Aim: The main aim of this research includes the analysis of the psychodynamics of the changes in the experience of the child and in the parent-child relationship, during the complementary application ...and supporting creative art/expressive therapy in pediatric oncology, especially in connection with the modern concepts of psychosocial oncology, sophrology, education and rehabilitation sciences.
Method: According to initial hypothesis application of complementary and creative art/expressive therapy (structured application of dynamic relaxation/breathing and sophrotherapy, individual and group artistic expression, guided imagination and elements of drama therapy), in the concept of sophrology, psychosocial oncology and art/expressive therapy, will be manifested in the psychodynamics of changes in problem areas: a) the experience of the child and b) the parent-child relationship. The study was conducted as a case study of mother-child pair (girl’s age 6.10, Dg. Osteoplastic expansive formation of lower leg), and through a system of controlled variables, components of changes and the correlation between variables are evaluated. In the purpose of evaluation followed instrument were used: Gibson spiral maze – test for measuring of psychomotor skills, Aqua test for Self-report measurement of stress reaction, Wong Baker Scale, Coping Health Inventory for Parents – CHIP and PD visual-analog scale with induces variables. The study was conducted in fi ve assessment points, and the original data were analyzed by a modifi ed algorithm INDIFF and qualitative analysis of induced variables. Results: Obtained through the main components of changes for the observed variables and their analysis, research results have confi rmed the initial hypothesis, that the value of complementary analytical approaches and application of sophrology and art/expressive therapy in the complex treatment and rehabilitation. Conclusion: The results of this research can be attached to the development of areas of psychosocial oncology, sophrology and art/expressive therapy and motivation for further research into the holistic approach to treatment and rehabilitation of children with malignant disease and interdisciplinary communication.
Aim: The aim of this research was evaluation of the changes in coping mechanism, emotional experience and expression of the children with cancer, during complex programs of medical treatment and ...rehabilitation, and was conducted in a frame of the scientific project “Complementary Therapies and Life Potential Development” supported by Ministry of Science of the Republic of Croatia a Method: In the frame of a case study, observed sample included one boy, age 14, with diagnosis Osteosarcoma Maxilae t. dex. (osteosarkoma of right maxillary), hospitalized at the Department for Hematology and Oncology at the Children’s Hospital Zagreb. Initial hypothesis was that the complementary use of art/expressive therapy, drafted according to the individual needs of children during complex treatment and rehabilitation, manifested in changes in the child’s coping mechanisms in connection with the tendencies of changes in other control variables. For evaluation are used following instruments: Gibson spiral maze – test for measuring of psychomotor skills, Aqua test for Self-report measurement of stress reaction, Basic Ph model and SUO – Scale for coping for children and adolescents. The program was conducted in seven assessment points and the original data for the controlled variables were processed by the INDIFF analysis of changes. Results: Obtained through the two main components of change for the observed variables and their analysis, research results have confirmed the initial hypothesis, that the value of complementary analytical approaches and application of sophrology and art/expressive therapy in the complex treatment and rehabilitation. Conclusion: Supporting mechanisms for coping in children with malignant disease is crucial to maintain child’s psychoemotional homeostasis during treatment and rehabilitation. In this context art/expressive therapy and sophrology, such methods and procedures designed and implemented through the individual protocol, may have psychotherapeutic and supporting function.
The emotions and thoughts that appear in people with malignant diseases during diagnostics, treatment and rehabilitation, represent a complex problem area for the patient, social enviroment, as well ...as professionals from biomedical, humanities, social and other sciences. The way that an adult or child experiences the threat to it's own existence is very important when coping with their disease during treatment and rehabilitation. Psychosocial oncology as an interdisciplinary field of study is presented within some study programs at various universities and clinical institutions worldwide and within the course “Psychosocial oncology" at the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Zagreb. Some clinical and scientific researches that were conducted during the treatment and rehabilitation of patients with breast cancer, as well as in children with solid malignant tumors are shown. The need for adequate university education of professionals in the field of rehabilitation sciences is emphasized, so they may be abled with their acquired competencies during their studies and/or after various specializations, to provide complementary forms of psychoemotional and psychosocial support to patients.

The main aim of research includes the analysis of the psychodynamics of the changes in: a) the experience of the child and b) in the parent-child relationship, during the complementary application ...and supporting creative art/expressive therapy in pediatric oncology, especially in connection with the modern concepts of psychosocial oncology, sophrology, education and rehabilitation sciences. According to aim of the research, starting hypothesis is defined according to which:--application of complementary and creative art/expressive therapy (structured application of dynamic relaxation/breathing and sophrotherapy, individual and group artistic expression, music and image motifs in a guided imagination and elements of drama therapy), in the concept of sophrology, psychosocial oncology and art/expressive therapy (designed depending on the diagnosis, clinical features, treatment program and the individual needs of the child), will be manifested in the psychodynamics of changes in problem areas: a) the experience of the child and b) theparent-child relationship. The first part of the study was conducted on a sample of 13 parents of children with malignant disease in order to study the basic parameters of existential anxiety in a group of parents, and the interconnection of personality characteristics, measured by personality questionnaire SLC-90, and their ways of coping with the child's illness, measured by questionnaire on coping for Parents (CHIP). On the basis of quasicanonical data analysis, results confirm that there is a statistically significant relationship between some dimensions of coping (family integration, cooperation and optimism) and certain personality traits (obsessive-compulsive reactions, anxiety andphobic anxiety). The second part of the research includes four case studies of parent-child pairs, and through a system of controlled variables were evaluated component of changes and correlations between variables. The results of the quantitative analysis (INDIF method) and qualitative analysis of induced variables and drawings, showed changes in the controlled variables and the positive effects of the applied treatment procedures. Key words: psychosocial oncology, sophrology, art/expressive therapy, coping Kao osnovni cilj istrazivanja predvidena je analiza psihodinamike promjena u a) dozivljaju djeteta i b) u odnosu dijete-roditelj, tijekom komplementarne primjene potporne kreativne i art/ekspresivne terapije u pedijatrijskoj onkologiji, posebice u povezanosti sa suvremenim konceptima psihosocijalne onkologije, sofrologije, edukacije i rehabilitacijskih znanosti. U skladu s ciljem istrazivanja, definirana je polaznu hipoteza istrazivanja prema kojoj se komplementarna primjena kreativne i art/ekspresivne terapije (strukturirana primjena dinamicke relaksacije/terapijsko disanje i sofronizacija; individualnog i grupnog likovnog izrazavanja; glazbenih i slikovnih motiva u vodenoj imaginaciji i elemenata dramske terapije), u konceptu sofrologije, psihosocijalne onkologije i art/ekspresivnih terapija, (koncipirana ovisno o dijagnozi, klinickoj slici, programu lijecenja i individualnim potrebama djeteta), manifestira upsihodinamicipromjena uproblemskimpodrucjima: a) dozivljaj djeteta i b) odnos dijete-roditelj. This study deals with an interrelation of will, voluntary motor activity and pathophysiological substrate in patients with neuromuscular diseases. The study has included an available sample of 78 ...patients with chronic neuromuscular diseases. According to the stage of functional abilities in the range from V to VII, out of that sample 35 chronic patients have been extracted. Maximum static forces of muscular segments or functions of the hand have been evaluated on the basis of ergometric measurements. Research methods have been presented, and the correlations of maximum static forces of muscular segments and motility of the correspondent segments of the hand in three groups of patients have been received. The content of clinical research has been discussed in the light of contemporary approaches to education, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with motor disorders and chronic diseases. Within clinical assessment methods, the dimension of will in coping mechanisms and elements of self-assessment in subjects has been observed, as well as the quality of life of patients with neuromuscular diseases. Special consideration has been shown with regard to possibilities of the application of rehabilitation / assistive technology, as well as regarding the need to educate expert rehabilitators in this specific field. With the results of clinical research, some aspects of personal experience of the patients with neuromuscular diseases have been presented. For that purpose, quotes from Branko Bizjak’s book “Oboreni pesimizam” (“Suppressed Pessimism”) have been added.
