Based on a sample of 1.31×109 J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector, the matrix elements for the decays η′→ηπ+π− and η′→ηπ0π0 are determined using 351,016 η′→(η→γγ)π+π− and 56,249 ...η′→(η→γγ)π0π0 events with background levels less than 1%. Two commonly used representations are used to describe the Dalitz plot density. We find that an assumption of a linear amplitude does not describe the data well. A small deviation of the obtained matrix elements between η′→ηπ+π− and η′→ηπ0π0 is probably caused by the mass difference between charged and neutral pions or radiative corrections. No cusp structure in η′→ηπ0π0 is observed.

In response to a questionnaire on Barack Obama devised by "Journal of Visual Culture" in January/February 2009, this article analyses the effect of Obama as a cultural icon. The author suggests that ...it is important to recognise the extent to which Obama's image is - before any positive content of, for example, visible racial marking - a highly ambiguous blank slate on which popular fantasy could be projected. Obama made himself a mirror for an international community of frustrated desire for peace, hope and change. The key to his iconicity resides not in determinacy but ambiguity, not in identity but differential hybridity. (Quotes from original text)
Summary
Reasons for performing study: The success rate of prosthetic laryngoplasty is limited and may be associated with significant sequelae. Nerve muscle pedicle transplantation has been attempted ...but requires a year before function is restored.
Objective: To determine the optimal parameters for functional electrical stimulation of the recurrent laryngeal nerve in horses.
Methods: An experimental in vivo study was performed on 7 mature horses (2–21 years). A nerve cuff was placed on the distal end of the common trunk of the recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN). In 6 horses the ipsilateral adductor branch of RLN was also transected. The electrodes were connected to programmable internal stimulator. Stimulation was performed using cathodic phase and then biphasic pulses at 24 Hz with a 0.427 ms pulse duration. Stimulation‐response experiments were performed at monthly intervals, from one week following implantation. The study continued until unit failure or the end of project (12 months). Two of the horses were stimulated continuously for 60 min to assess onset of fatigue.
Results: Excellent arytenoid cartilage abduction (mean arytenoid angle of 52.7°, range 48.5–56.2°) was obtained in 6 horses (laryngeal grades I or II (n = 3) and III (n = 2). Poor abduction was obtained in grade IV horses (n = 2). Arytenoid abduction was maintained for up to a year in one horse. Technical implant failure resulted in loss of abduction in 6 horses at one week to 11 months post operatively. Mean tissue impedance was 1.06 kOhm (range 0.64–1.67 kOhm) at one week, twice this value at 2 months (mean 2.32, range 1.11–3.75 kOhm) and was stable thereafter. Maximal abduction was achieved at a stimulation range of 0.65–7.2 mA. No electrical leakage was observed. Constant stimulation of the recurrent laryngeal nerve for 60 min led to full abduction without evidence of muscle fatigue.
Conclusions: Functional electrical stimulation of the recurrent laryngeal nerve leading to full arytenoid abduction can be achieved. The minimal stimulation amplitude for maximal abduction angle is slightly higher than those for man and dogs.
Clinical relevance: This treatment modality could eventually be applicable to horses with recurrent laryngeal neuropathy.

Titan was a mostly unknown world prior to the Cassini spacecraft’s arrival in July 2004. We review the major scientific advances made by Cassini’s Titan Radar Mapper (RADAR) during 13 years of ...Cassini’s exploration of Saturn and its moons. RADAR measurements revealed Titan’s surface geology, observed lakes and seas of mostly liquid methane in the polar regions, measured the depth of several lakes and seas, detected temporal changes on its surface, and provided key evidence that Titan contains an interior ocean. As a result of the Cassini mission, Titan has gone from an uncharted world to one that exhibits a variety of Earth-like geologic processes and surface-atmosphere interactions. Titan has also joined the ranks of “ocean worlds” along with Enceladus and Europa, which are prime targets for astrobiological research.
We report new measurements of the cross sections for the production of DD̄ final states at the ψ(3770) resonance. Our data sample consists of an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb−1 of e+e− ...annihilation data produced by the BEPCII collider and collected and analyzed with the BESIII detector. We exclusively reconstruct three D0 and six D+ hadronic decay modes and use the ratio of the yield of fully reconstructed DD̄ events ("double tags") to the yield of all reconstructed D or D̄ mesons ("single tags") to determine the number of D0D̄0 and D+D− events, benefiting from the cancellation of many systematic uncertainties. Combining these yields with an independent determination of the integrated luminosity of the data sample, we find the cross sections to be σ(e+e− → D0D̄0) nb and σ(e+e− → D+D−) = (2.830 ± 0.011 ± 0.026) nb, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively.
Purpose
The pivotal aim is to examine the association between underpricing and intellectual capital (IC) disclosures amongst Singapore initial public offerings (IPOs). A secondary aim is to elaborate ...on the research by Bukh into IC disclosures by Danish IPOs.
Design/methodology/approach
Using a theoretical framework based on the notions of
ex ante
uncertainty and information asymmetry, the study examines empirically 334 Singapore IPO prospectuses between 1997 and 2004.
Findings
Contrary to theoretical predictions and much of the prior financial disclosure/underpricing research, we find a positive association between underpricing and the extent of IC disclosure. Additional sub‐sample analysis shows that the positive association holds across the market's broader industry base, but is strongest amongst IPOs that are heavily reliant on IC resources.
Research limitations/implications
The research studies Singapore IPOs only, within a specific timeframe (1997‐2004), and concentrates on a single disclosure mechanism (though the one considered most significant to an IPO).
Practical implications
Empirical analysis suggests issuers may not use IC disclosures effectively to reduce their cost of capital. Rather, they use IC disclosures as a strategic tool to complement underpricing. Further, findings suggest policymakers may need to introduce minimal uniform IC disclosure requirements to prevent a speculative IPO market from developing as the significance of IC increases.
Originality/value
Study is the first to provide empirical evidence of the association between IC disclosures and underpricing. Further, it is one of the very first to examine the consequences of IC disclosures and thereby provide a new path for future IC disclosure research.
