We report measurements of the branching fraction and CP violation parameters in B(0)-->D+ D- decays. The results are based on a data sample that contains 535 x 10(6) BB pairs collected at the ...Upsilon(4S) resonance, with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. We obtain 1.97+/-0.20(stat) +/- 0.20(syst) x 10(-4) for the branching fraction of B0-->D+D-. The measured values of the CP violation parameters are S=-1.13+/-0.37+/-0.09, A=0.91+/-0.23+/-0.06, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. We find evidence of CP violation in B0-->D+D- at the 4.1sigma confidence level. While the value of S is consistent with expectations from other measurements, the value of the parameter A favors large direct CP violation at the 3.2sigma confidence level, in contradiction to standard model expectations.
We report on the design, construction and performance of a prototype for a high-granularity tile hadronic calorimeter for a future international linear collider detector. Scintillating tiles are read ...out via wavelength-shifting fibers that guide the scintillation light to a novel photodetector, the silicon photomultiplier. A prototype has been tested using a positron test beam at DESY. The results are compared with a reference prototype calorimeter equipped with multichannel vacuum photomultipliers. Detector calibration, noise, linearity and stability are discussed, and the energy response in a 1–6
GeV positron beam is compared with simulations. The present results demonstrate that the silicon photomultiplier is well-suited as photodetectors in calorimeters and thus has been selected for the construction of a

calorimeter prototype to operate in hadron beams.
We highlight the progress, current status, and open challenges of QCD-driven physics, in theory and in experiment. We discuss how the strong interaction is intimately connected to a broad sweep of ...physical problems, in settings ranging from astrophysics and cosmology to strongly coupled, complex systems in particle and condensed-matter physics, as well as to searches for physics beyond the Standard Model. We also discuss how success in describing the strong interaction impacts other fields, and, in turn, how such subjects can impact studies of the strong interaction. In the course of the work we offer a perspective on the many research streams which flow into and out of QCD, as well as a vision for future developments.

Using 449x10(6) BBover pairs collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider, we observe clear signals for B(+)-->Kover (0)K(+) and B(0)-->Kover (0)K(0) decays with ...5.3sigma and 6.0sigma significance, respectively. We measure the branching fractions B(B(+)-->Kover (0)K(+))=(1.22(-0.28-0.16)(+0.32+0.13))x10(-6) and B(B(0)-->Kover (0)K(0))=(0.87(-0.20)(+0.25)+/-0.09)x10(-6), and partial-rate asymmetries A(CP)(B(+)-->Kover (0)K(+))=0.13(-0.24)(+0.23)+/-0.02 and A(CP)(B(0)-->Kover (0)K(0))=-0.58(-0.66)(+0.73)+/-0.04. From a simultaneous fit, we also obtain B(B(+)-->K(0)pi(+))=(22.8(-0.7)(+0.8)+/-1.3)x10(-6) and A(CP)(B(+)-->K(0)pi(+))=0.03+/-0.03+/-0.01. The first and second error in the branching fractions and the partial-rate asymmetries are statistical and systematic, respectively. No signal is observed for B(0)-->K(+)K(-) decays, and for this branching fraction, we set an upper limit of 4.1x10(-7) at the 90% confidence level.
Here, we present a measurement of angular observables and a test of lepton flavor universality in the B → K*ℓ+ℓ- decay, where ℓ is either e or μ . The analysis is performed on a data sample ...corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 711fb-1 containing 772×106 B B ¯ pairs, collected at the Υ ( 4S ) resonance with the Belle detector at the asymmetric-energy e+e- collider KEKB. The finding is consistent with standard model (SM) expectations, where the largest discrepancy from a SM prediction is observed in the muon modes with a local significance of 2.6σ .
Using the entire Belle data sample of 980 fb−1 of e+e− collisions, we present the results of a study of excited Ωc charmed baryons in the decay mode Ξc+K−. We show confirmation of four of the five ...narrow states reported by the LHCb Collaboration: the Ωc(3000), Ωc(3050), Ωc(3066), and Ωc(3090).
The cross section for ee+ e- → π+ π- J/ψ between 3.8 and 5.5 GeV is measured with a 967 fb(-1) data sample collected by the Belle detector at or near the Υ(nS) (n = 1,2,…,5) resonances. The Y(4260) ...state is observed, and its resonance parameters are determined. In addition, an excess of π+ π- J/ψ production around 4 GeV is observed. This feature can be described by a Breit-Wigner parametrization with properties that are consistent with the Y(4008) state that was previously reported by Belle. In a study of Y(4260) → π+ π- J/ψ decays, a structure is observed in the M(π(±)J/ψ) mass spectrum with 5.2σ significance, with mass M = (3894.5 ± 6.6 ± 4.5) MeV/c2 and width Γ = (63 ± 24 ± 26) MeV/c2, where the errors are statistical and systematic, respectively. This structure can be interpreted as a new charged charmoniumlike state.
The dipion transitions Υ(10860)→π+π−Υ(nS) (n=1, 2, 3) are studied in the framework of a unitary and analytic coupled-channel formalism previously developed for analyzing experimental data on the ...bottomoniumlike states Zb(10610) and Zb(10650) Phys. Rev. D 98, 074023 (2018) and predicting the properties of their spin partners Phys. Rev. D 99, 094013 (2019). In this work we use a relatively simple but realistic version of this approach, where the scattering and production amplitudes are constructed employing only short-ranged interactions between the open- and hidden-flavor channels consistent with the constraints from heavy quark spin symmetry, for an extended analysis of the experimental line shapes. In particular, the transitions from the Υ(10860) to the final states ππhb(mP) (m=1, 2) and πB(*)¯B∗ already studied before, are now augmented by the Υ(10860)→π+π−Υ(nS) final states (n=1, 2, 3). This is achieved by employing dispersion theory to account for the final state interaction of the ππ subsystem including its coupling to the K¯K channel. Fits to the two-dimensional Dalitz plots for the π+π−Υ final states were performed. Two real subtraction constants are adjusted to achieve the best description of the Dalitz plot for each Υ(nS) (n=1, 2, 3) while all the parameters related to the properties of the Zbs are kept fixed from the previous study. A good overall description of the data for all Υ(10860)→π+π−Υ(nS) channels achieved in this work provides additional strong support for the molecular interpretation of the Zb states.
