We present a determination of the magnitude of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |Vcb| using the decay B → Dℓνℓ (ℓ = e,μ) based on 711 fb–1 of e+e– → Υ(4S) data recorded by the Belle ...detector and containing 772 × 106 BB¯ pairs. Here, one B meson in the event is fully reconstructed in a hadronic decay mode, while the other, on the signal side, is partially reconstructed from a charged lepton and either a D+ or D0 meson in a total of 23 hadronic decay modes. The isospin-averaged branching fraction of the decay B → Dℓνℓ is found to be B(B0 → D–ℓ+νℓ) = (2.31 ± 0.03(stat) ± 0.11(syst))%. Analyzing the differential decay rate as a function of the hadronic recoil with the parametrization of Caprini, Lellouch, and Neubert and using the form-factor prediction G(1) = 1.0541 ± 0.0083 calculated by FNAL/MILC, we obtain ηEW|Vcb| = (40.12 ± 1.34) × 10–3, where ηEW is the electroweak correction factor. Alternatively, assuming the model-independent form-factor parametrization of Boyd, Grinstein, and Lebed and using lattice QCD data from the FNAL/MILC and HPQCD collaborations, we find ηEW|Vcb| = (41.10 ± 1.14) × 10–3.
With the full data sample of 772×106 BB¯ pairs recorded by the Belle detector at the KEKB electron-positron collider, the decay B¯→D*τ−ν¯τ is studied with the hadronic τ decays τ−→π−ντ and τ−→ρ−ντ. ...The τ polarization Pτ(D*) in two-body hadronic τ decays is measured, as well as the ratio of the branching fractions R(D*)=B(B¯→D*τ−ν¯τ)/B(B¯→D*ℓ−ν¯ℓ), where ℓ− denotes an electron or a muon. Our results, Pτ(D*)=−0.38±0.51(stat)−0.16+0.21(syst) and R(D*)=0.270±0.035(stat)−0.025+0.028(syst), are consistent with the theoretical predictions of the standard model. The polarization values of Pτ(D*)>+0.5 are excluded at the 90% confidence level.
We present a new measurement of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |Vcb| from B0→D*−ℓ+νℓ decays, reconstructed with the full Belle data set of 711 fb−1 integrated luminosity. Two form ...factor parametrizations, originally conceived by the Caprini-Lellouch-Neubert (CLN) and the Boyd, Grinstein and Lebed (BGL) groups, are used to extract the product F(1)ηEW|Vcb| and the decay form factors, where F(1) is the normalization factor and ηEW is a small electroweak correction. In the CLN parametrization we find F(1)ηEW|Vcb|=(35.06±0.15±0.56)×10−3, ρ2=1.106±0.031±0.007, R1(1)=1.229±0.028±0.009, R2(1)=0.852±0.021±0.006. For the BGL parametrization we obtain F(1)ηEW|Vcb|=(34.93±0.23±0.59)×10−3, which is consistent with the world average when correcting for F(1)ηEW. The branching fraction of B0→D*−ℓ+νℓ is measured to be B(B0→D*−ℓ+νℓ)=(4.90±0.02±0.16)%. We also present a new test of lepton flavor universality violation in semileptonic B decays, B(B0→D*−e+ν)B(B0→D*−μ+ν)=1.01±0.01±0.03. The errors quoted correspond to the statistical and systematic uncertainties, respectively. This is the most precise measurement of F(1)ηEW|Vcb| and form factors to date and the first experimental study of the BGL form factor parametrization in an experimental measurement.
Background: With the increase in infertility burden, more and more couples are opting for in vitro fertilization (IVF). Despite the availability of various treatment options, the major concern that ...needs to be addressed is the reasons why such couples, initially motivated so strongly, drop out in fairly high numbers from IVF cycles. With this point of view the study was designed. AIM: The objective of this study was to explore the reasons why couples discontinue fertility treatment. Settings and Design: This retrospective study was carried out among couples in the age group of 20-40 years who opted for IVF at Tertiary care hospital and a private infertility center. Materials and Methods: Medical records for 3 years (2009-2012) were taken out and included in the study for analysis. Socio-demographic details along with indication for IVF and reasons for drop-separate IVF therapy were recorded on case record form and were analyzed. Results: Twenty-one percent of the patients had tubal pathology, thus making it the commonest female related factor for indication of IVF. Oligoasthenospermia (13%) was the commonest cause of male related infertility factor. Financial burden was the primary cause for terminating treatment in majority of the IVF cases. Conclusions: Financial burden (62.5%) was the commonest reason for drop out among couples from IVF cycle.

We present the first measurements of absolute branching fractions of Ξc0 decays into Ξ−π+, ΛK−π+, and pK−K−π+ final states. The measurements are made using a dataset comprising (772±11)×106 BB¯ pairs ...collected at the ϒ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e− collider. We first measure the absolute branching fraction for B−→Λ¯c−Ξc0 using a missing-mass technique; the result is B(B−→Λ¯c−Ξc0)=(9.51±2.10±0.88)×10−4. We subsequently measure the product branching fractions B(B−→Λ¯c−Ξc0)B(Ξc0→Ξ−π+), B(B−→Λ¯c−Ξc0)B(Ξc0→ΛK−π+), and B(B−→Λ¯c−Ξc0)B(Ξc0→pK−K−π+) with improved precision. Dividing these product branching fractions by the result for B−→Λ¯c−Ξc0 yields the following branching fractions: B(Ξc0→Ξ−π+)=(1.80±0.50±0.14)%, B(Ξc0→ΛK−π+)=(1.17±0.37±0.09)%, and B(Ξc0→pK−K−π+)=(0.58±0.23±0.05)%. For the above branching fractions, the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. Our result for B(Ξc0→Ξ−π+) can be combined with Ξc0 branching fractions measured relative to Ξc0→Ξ−π+ to yield other absolute Ξc0 branching fractions.

We report results from a study of the spin and parity of Ξ c ( 2970 ) + using a 980 fb −1 data sample collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e− collider. The decay angle ...distributions in the chain Ξc (2970)+→ Ξc (2645) 0π+ → Ξ+c π− π+ are analyzed to determine the spin of this charmed-strange baryon. The angular distributions strongly favor the Ξc (2970)+ spin J = 1/2 over 3/2 or 5/2, under an assumption that the lowest partial wave dominates in the decay. We also measure the ratio of Ξc (2970)+ decay branching fractions R = B Ξc (2970)+ → Ξc (2645)0π+/B Ξc (2970)+ → Ξ0c π+ = 1.67 ± 0.29 (stat)+0.15 −0.09 (syst) ± 0.25 (IS), where the last uncertainty is due to possible isospin-symmetry-breaking effects. This R value favors the spin-parity J P = 1/2+ with the spin of the light-quark degrees of freedom sl = 0. This is the first determination of the spin and parity of a charmed-strange baryon.
We perform a full amplitude analysis of the process e+e−→J/ψDD¯, where D refers to either D0 or D+. A new charmoniumlike state X*(3860) that decays to DD¯ is observed with a significance of 6.5σ. Its ...mass is (3862−32+26 −13+40) MeV/c2, and its width is (201−67+154 −82+88) MeV. The JPC=0++ hypothesis is favored over the 2++ hypothesis at the level of 2.5σ. The analysis is based on the 980 fb−1 data sample collected by the Belle detector at the asymmetric-energy e+e− collider KEKB.
We report measurements of the production cross sections of charged pions, kaons, and protons as a function of fractional energy, the event-shape variable called thrust, and the transverse momentum ...with respect to the thrust axis. These measurements access the transverse momenta created in the fragmentation process, which are of critical importance to the understanding of any transverse-momentum-dependent distribution and fragmentation functions. The low transverse-momentum part of the cross sections can be well described by Gaussians in transverse momentum as is generally assumed but the fractional-energy dependence is nontrivial and different hadron types have varying Gaussian widths. The width of these Gaussians decreases with thrust and shows an initially rising, then decreasing fractional-energy dependence. The widths for pions and kaons are comparable within uncertainties, while those for protons are significantly narrower. These single-hadron cross sections and Gaussian widths are obtained from a 558 fb−1 data sample collected at the ϒ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e− collider.
