Introducción: Los síndromes de predisposición hereditaria al cáncer representan un 5-10% de los casos de cáncer, el más estudiado es HBOC producido por mutaciones en los genes BRCA1/2. Objetivos: ...Describir características clínicas, histopatológicas y VP en pacientes con HBOC en Córdoba, Argentina y compararla con aquellas sin mutaciones en BRCA1/2. Métodos: Análisis transversal, correlacional y observacional de pacientes de Córdoba. Se utilizó la prueba ANOVA, t de Student, tablas de contingencia y prueba exacta de Fisher, el nivel de significancia fue α=0,05. Resultados: Se estudiaron 155 mujeres con CM, CO y CM/CO. Se identificaron 40 mutaciones en BRCA1/2. No se encontraron diferencias en edad de diagnóstico entre pacientes con y sin mutaciones en BRCA1/2. Se encontró asociación significativa entre VP en BRCA1/2 y el tipo de cáncer (p=0,003); todos los casos con CM/CO presentaron mutaciones en BRCA1/2. No se encontró asociación significativa entre mutados/no mutados y AP, AF, RE-RP-HER2. El 23.1% y 38.1% de los casos de CM fueron TN en individuos con VP en BRCA 1 y 2 respectivamente. La prevalencia de mutaciones fue 25,8% y la prevalencia de VP noveles del 10,0%. Conclusiones: Las pacientes con CM-VP BRCA1/2 están asociadas con histología ductal, y menor edad de presentación con VP BRCA1. No encontramos diferencias significativas en edad de diagnóstico del CM entre pacientes con mutaciones BRCA1 y BRCA2, se observa una mayor proporción CM TN que en la población en general. En nuestra muestra, la prevalencia de mutaciones en BRCA1/2 entre los pacientes que reúnen criterios para HBOC es del 25,8%, con 10% de VP noveles.
Human carboxylesterases 1 and 2 (CES1 and CES2) catalyze the hydrolysis of many exogenous compounds. Alterations in CES sequences could lead to variability in both the inactivation of drugs and the ...activation of prodrugs. The human CES1 gene encodes for the enzyme carboxylesterase 1, a serine esterase governing both metabolic deactivation and activation of numerous therapeutic agents. Some of theses drugs are the antiviral oseltamivir used to treat some types of influenza infections and the methylphenidate employed in the treatment of patients with attention deficit. The Gly143Glu polymorphism in CES1 gene has been shown to reduce enzyme activity. The aim of the present study was to develop an easy and cheap method to detect this polymorphism. For this, we studied a group of people from Córdoba, a Mediterranean area from Argentina. Our results show that our methodology could detect the presence of this polymorphism with a frequency around 1.8%, only in the heterozygote form. These results could be relevant to patients before the treatment with some drugs where the CES1 enzyme is involved.
Antecedentes: la prevalencia de rinitis alérgica en todo el mundo es alta. El Estudio Internacional de Asma y Alergias en la Niñez (ISAAC de International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood) ...Fase III reporta una prevalencia estimada total en México de 4.6%. Existen guías de práctica clínica basadas en evidencia de rinitis alérgica, pero su promoción, aceptación y validez no son óptimas ni adecuadas para México.Objetivo: generar una guía de tratamiento de la rinitis alérgica y su repercusión en el asma adaptando la guía ARIA 2010 a la realidad mexicana mediante un proceso de transculturización, por medio de la metodología ADAPTE.Material y método: a través de la metodología ADAPTE un grupo de desarrollo de la guía, integrado por múltiples especialistas que tratan pacientes con rinitis alérgica, valoró la calidad de la guía ARIA 2010, revisó y tradujo las preguntas clínicas clave y ajustó las recomendaciones, preferencias del paciente y comentarios a la realidad mexicana (seguridad, costos y aspectos culturales). Para lograrlo se corrieron páneles Delphi, con tantas rondas como fuera necesario hasta lograr un acuerdo. Por medio de una revisión sistemática de la bibliografía se creó una pregunta especial no incluida en ARIA 2010 de la utilidad de realizar lavados nasales en pacientes con rinitis alérgica.Resultados: se incluyeron 45 preguntas de la guía original ARIA 2010, divididas en seis bloques que abarcan prevención, tratamiento médico, inmunoterapia y terapias alternativas de pacientes con rinitis alérgica con o sin asma. La mayor parte de las preguntas alcanzaron acuerdo en una a dos rondas, sólo una requirió tres para ello.Conclusiones: se cuenta ahora con una guía de rinitis alérgica de uso sencillo, adaptada, actualizada y válida para México.
The 22q11.2 microdeletion is the most common deletion syndrome, with a prevalence of 1/4000-1/6000 among newborn infants and a wide phenotypic variability. The diagnosis of the 22q11.2 microdeletion ...is made through cytogenetics or fuorescence in situ hybridization (FISH). The objectives of this article were to describe the clinical features of 32 patients with 22q11.2 microdeletion and the fndings of other chromosomal abnormalities and genetic syndromes in phenotypically similar patients. This series was made up of 268 patients with clinical criteria supporting the diagnostic suspicion attended at the Hospital de Niños and Hospital Privado, of Córdoba, between March 1st, 2004 and August 31st, 2011. The following parameters were analyzed: age at the time of the diagnosis, sex, clinical manifestations, and mortality. Thirty-two patients (19 males and 13 females) had a positive result for this deletion. The diagnosis was made mostly in their frst months and years of life (age range: 7 days old-31 years old). The clinical manifestations were: congenital heart diseases (22/32), thymic hypoplasia-agenesis/ recurrent infections (10/32), velopalatal insuffciency (8/32). Five patients died; four due to a complication associated with their cardiovascular disease and one due to multiple organ failure. The clinical manifestations of the syndrome were varied.

Hereditary predisposition syndromes to cancer represent 5-10% of cancer cases, the most studied being HBOC produced by mutations in the BRCA1/2 genes.

Cross-sectional, correlational and observational analysis of patients from Córdoba. The ANOVA, Student's t test contingency tables and Fisher exact test were used the significance level was α = 0.05.
155 women with BC, OC and BC/OC were studied. 40 BRCA1 / 2 mutations were identified. No differences were found in the age of diagnosis between patients with and without BRCA1/2 mutations. A significant association was found between VP in BRCA1/2 and the type of cancer (p = 0.003); all cases with BC/OC presented mutations in BRCA1/2. No significant association was found between mutated/non-mutated and personal history, family background, and ER-PR-HER2. 23.1% and 38.1% of BC cases were TN in individuals with VP in BRCA 1 and 2, respectively. The prevalence of mutations was 25.8% and the prevalence of novel PV was 10.0%.
Patients with BC-VP BRCA1/2 are associated with ductal histology, and younger age of presentation with VP BRCA1. We did not find significant differences in the age at diagnosis of BC between patients with BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations, a higher proportion of BC TN is observed than in the general population. In our sample, the prevalence of BRCA1/2 mutations among patients who meet criteria for HBOC is 25.8%, with 10% new pathogenic variant.
The rapid development of mRNA-based vaccines against the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) led to the design of accelerated vaccination schedules that have been extremely ...effective in naive individuals. While a two-dose immunization regimen with the BNT162b2 vaccine has been demonstrated to provide a 95% efficacy in naive individuals, the effects of the second vaccine dose in individuals who have previously recovered from natural SARS-CoV-2 infection has not been investigated in detail. In this study, we characterize SARS-CoV-2 spike-specific humoral and cellular immunity in naive and previously infected individuals during and after two doses of BNT162b2 vaccination. Our results demonstrate that, while the second dose increases both the humoral and cellular immunity in naive individuals, COVID-19 recovered individuals reach their peak of immunity after the first dose. These results suggests that a second dose, according to the current standard regimen of vaccination, may be not necessary in individuals previously infected with SARS-CoV-2.

Scarce SARS-CoV-2 vaccine supplies are influencing vaccination policies in some countries. Lozano-Ojalvo et al. report that subjects with previous exposure to SARS-CoV-2 mount powerful immune responses after the first BNT162b2 vaccine dose, suggesting single vaccination regimens in COVID-19 recovered individuals.

Introducción. En pleno siglo XXI, la lucha por una educación verdaderamente inclusiva sigue vigente. El estallido de la pandemia no ha hecho sino evidenciar las grandes desigualdades existentes en ...los diferentes sistemas educativos. Método. En este escenario de partida, se ha llevado a cabo un estudio de corte cualitativo cuyo objetivo ha consistido en revisar las guías e informes que ofrece la literatura para apoyar a los centros educativos en su camino hacia la inclusión en tiempos de pandemia. El artículo presenta el análisis de contenido de un total de 17 documentos que constituyen las primeras fuentes de conocimiento sobre la temática (publicadas en español e inglés y contextualizadas en las etapas educativas comprendidas entre la Educación Infantil y la Educación Superior). Ello ha permitido identificar los principales retos que enfrenta el modelo de educación inclusiva, las prioridades/áreas clave para la inclusión y las orientaciones que se proponen para afrontar el actual período de crisis desde una respuesta educativa y social inclusiva. Resultados. Los resultados apuntan a la superación de la brecha digital, la continuidad del aprendizaje, la aplicación de nuevas metodologías, la mejora de la formación del profesorado en educación inclusiva y el apoyo socioemocional, entre otros, como los grandes baluartes sobre los que fortificar la escuela post-COVID. Discusión. Las conclusiones inciden en la oportunidad que brinda la pandemia para hacer que otra educación (más justa e inclusiva) sea posible.
El mucílago de nopal (Opuntia spp.) es un polisacárido calificado como nutracéutico por sus efectos positivos en la fisiología de los humanos. Por otro lado, el mucílago puede usarse como espesante, ...ya que al hidratarse forma hidrocoloides. El objetivo de este estudio fue adicionar mucílago de nopal a la sopa de elote tipo crema y evaluar su efecto espesante y aceptación sensorial. El mucílago se extrajo de cladodios de Opuntia spp. de las variantesAtlixco, Milpa Alta, Toluca, Tobarito y Tuna Blanca. Las concentraciones evaluadas fueron 0.7 y 1.0% y se incluyó almidón como testigo. Con algunas excepciones, la sopa de los 10 tratamientos con mucílago mostró pH (entre 6.09 y 6.32) y viscosidad (entre 6.043 y 1.623 Pa s) sin diferencias significativas (p > 0.05) respecto a los testigos; además, mostró la misma saturación (entre 17.47º y 18.49º), mayor luminosidad (entre 46.15 y 47.72º) y menos color (entre 78.36 y 79.52º). La aceptabilidad sensorial por viscosidad, excepto con mucílago de Atlixco y de Toluca (17 y 7% menor, respectivamente), y la aceptabilidad sensorial global con el mucílago, de las cinco variantes fue hasta 19% menor que la de los testigos. Tendrá que ponderarse el beneficio de adicionar mucílago de nopal a la sopa de elote, para usarse como alimento funcional, sobre su aceptabilidad global.
