A solid ternary mixture consisting of NaF,silicon and one metal oxide such as La2O3,CeO2,Pr6O11,Nd2O3,and Y2O3 was prepared and usedas de-fluorinated reagent for CF4 decomposition.The results show ...that 90% conversion of CF4 can be reached initially over NaF-Si-La2O3,NaF-Si-CeO2,NaF-Si-Nd2O3,and NaF-Si-Y2O3 at 850 C.The fresh and used reagents were characterized using XRD and XPS techniques.It was found that the active components of NaF and metal oxides in NaF-Si-CeO2,NaF-Si-Pr6O11,NaF-Si-Nd2O3,and NaF-Si-Y2O3 weretransformed into inert phases of mixed metal fluorides and silicates,respectively,resulting in an ineffective utilization of these de-fluorinatedreagents,whereas no inert phases from NaF and La2O3 can be observed in the used NaF-Si-La2O3,indicating the NaF-Si-La2O3 reagent couldbe utilized more efficiently than the other reagents in CF4 decomposition.

A building system is highly nonlinear and commonly includes a variety of parameters ranging from the architectural design to the building mechanical and energy system. Serving as a powerful tool to understand the complicated building system, sensitivity analysis (SA) has been receiving increasing attention in the recent decade.
This review paper focused on the application of SA in the building performance analysis (BPA). First, the existing review papers on the application of SA for BPA were briefly reviewed and summarized. Then, a large amount of recent SA case studies in BPA were reviewed. The critical information regarding the implementation of a SA, such as the sampling method, the SA method, etc., were extracted and summarized. Next, an extensive analysis was performed to evaluate the role of the SA in the BPA. This includes: 1) The typical selection of the input and output parameters for the SA were visualized; 2) The uncertainty level and sampling strategies for the input parameters were investigated; 3) The principles, benefits, and drawbacks of the SA methods were analyzed and summarized; and 4) The various tools used in the SA, including the simulation software, sampling tools, and SA tools were introduced to facilitate the practitioners. Lastly, several conclusions were summarized on the role of the SA in the BPA. Suggestions were also provided to offer practical solutions to the current challenges.
Metallic materials under extreme thermo-mechanical-environmental service conditions oftentimes rely on the formation of dense and protective oxide layers, e.g., typically alumina or chromia. Their ...failures, however, usually emerge from the morphological instability of such layers at the oxide-alloy interface. This work suggests that a tensile, biaxial stress arises in the substrate alloy due to the concomitant oxidation-diffusion-creep processes, which, in contrast to the growth stress in the oxide layer, provides a stabilizing factor that suppresses the rumpling or compositional variation in chromia or alumina interlayers. For rumpling analysis, the substrate tensile stress compensates the growth stress in the oxide layer. The compositional variation is modeled by the stress-domain analysis, which suggests that the substrate tensile stress prefers the growth of high-growth-stress oxide phase at the expense of low-growth-stress one. Our findings have been successfully employed to rationalize recent experiments in superalloys under cyclic oxidation conditions and in carburized or irradiated stainless steels under isothermal oxidation conditions.
Fragile X syndrome (FXS) is caused by the loss of fragile X mental retardation protein (FMRP), an RNA-binding protein that can regulate the translation of specific mRNAs. In this study, we developed ...an FXS human forebrain organoid model and observed that the loss of FMRP led to dysregulated neurogenesis, neuronal maturation and neuronal excitability. Bulk and single-cell gene expression analyses of FXS forebrain organoids revealed that the loss of FMRP altered gene expression in a cell-type-specific manner. The developmental deficits in FXS forebrain organoids could be rescued by inhibiting the phosphoinositide 3-kinase pathway but not the metabotropic glutamate pathway disrupted in the FXS mouse model. We identified a large number of human-specific mRNAs bound by FMRP. One of these human-specific FMRP targets, CHD2, contributed to the altered gene expression in FXS organoids. Collectively, our study revealed molecular, cellular and electrophysiological abnormalities associated with the loss of FMRP during human brain development.
