We extend the SHM analysis of hadron production results showing here consistency with the increased experimental data set, stability of the fit with regard to inclusion of finite resonance widths and ...2-star hyperon resonances. We present new results on strangeness yield as a function of centrality and present their interpretation in terms of QGP inspired model of strangeness abundance in the hadronizing fireball.
We investigate experimentally the possibility of enhancing the production of 2S3 positronium atoms by driving the 1S3–3P3 and 3P3–2S3 transitions, overcoming the natural branching ratio limitation of ...spontaneous decay from 3P3 to 2S3. The decay of 3P3 positronium atoms toward the 2S3 level has been efficiently stimulated by a 1312.2 nm broadband IR laser pulse. The dependence of the stimulating transition efficiency on the intensity of the IR pulse has been measured to find the optimal enhancement conditions. A maximum relative increase of ×(3.1±1.0) in the 2S3 production efficiency, with respect to the case in which only spontaneous decay is present, was obtained.

The AEgIS experiment aims at performing the first test of the Weak Equivalence Principle of General Relativity in the antimatter sector by measuring the gravitational acceleration acting on a beam of ...cold antihydrogen to a precision of 1%. The installation of the apparatus is making good progress and large parts were taken into operation. Parasitic detector tests during the beamtime in December 2012 gave essential input for an optimal moiré deflectometer and the detector layout necessary to perform the gravity measurement.
We describe a newly formulated approach to account for charm production and decay in Statistical Hadronization approach. Considering Pb-Pb collisions at 2.76 TeV at LHC we show that charm hadron ...decays can be a significant contributor to the multistrange hadron abundance. We discuss the magnitude of expected effects as a function of charm yield.
We report on laser cooling of a large fraction of positronium (Ps) in free flight by strongly saturating the 1 3 S − 2 3 P transition with a broadband, long-pulsed 243 nm alexandrite laser. The ...ground state Ps cloud is produced in a magnetic and electric field-free environment. We observe two different laser-induced effects. The first effect is an increase in the number of atoms in the ground state after the time Ps has spent in the long-lived 2 3 P states. The second effect is one-dimensional Doppler cooling of Ps, reducing the cloud’s temperature from 380(20) to 170(20) K. We demonstrate a 58(9)% increase in the fraction of Ps atoms with v 1 D < 3.7 × 10 4 m s − 1 . Published by the American Physical Society 2024
