Provider: - Institution: - Data provided by Europeana Collections- On the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the World War I armistice in Paris, on 11th November 1968 a big celebration with the ...parade of military units of the victor countries was held. Shoulder to shoulder with the Allies of that time, units of the Yugoslav Army paraded in front of the Triumphal Arch, on the same route where 50 years before the Serbian Army units had paraded in the honorary march. Combination of materials from the celebration in 1968 and archive film shootings of the Serbian Army from World War I and the celebration in 1918 were used in the film.- Na pedesetogodišnjicu potpisivanja primirja u Prvom svetskom ratu u Parizu je 11. novembra 1968. godine održana velika proslava uz defile vojnih jedinica zemalja pobednika. Rame uz rame sa tadašnjim Saveznicima ispod Trijumfalne kapije su prodefilovale i jedinice Jugoslovenske armije, istim putem kuda su pedeset godina ranije u počasnom maršu prodefilovale jedinice srpske vojske. U filmu je korišćena kombinacija materijala sa proslave iz 1968. i arhivskih snimaka srpske vojske iz Prvog svetskog rata i proslava iz 1918. godine.- All metadata published by Europeana are available free of restriction under the Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Universal Public Domain Dedication. Aim. To measure diameter of foveal avascular zone (FAZ), FAZ area, and vessel density using Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography (OCT-A) in patients with normal tension glaucoma (NTG) and to ...establish the possible role of OCT-A in diagnosis and follow-up of patients with NTG. Methods. Twenty-one eyes of 21 patients with NTG and 30 eyes of 30 healthy subjects underwent complete ophthalmic examination as well as OCT-A on ZEISS AngioPlex. 3×3 macula scans were used to measure vertical, horizontal, and maximum diameter of FAZ by two graders. Mean values and interobserver variability were analyzed. Image J was used for analysis of FAZ area and vessel density. Results. Mean vertical diameter (t=5.58, p<0.001), horizontal diameter (t=3.59, p<0.001), maximum diameter (t=5.94, p<0.001), and FAZ area (t=5.76, p<0.001) were statistically significantly enlarged in the NTG group compared to those in the control group. Vessel density (t=-5.80, p<0.001) was statistically significantly decreased in the NTG group compared to that in the control group. Conclusion. OCT-A could have an important role in the future in diagnosis of patients with NTG. In patients with NTG, there is larger FAZ area, while the vessel density is reduced in comparison to the control group.
Introduction. Open fractures of the lower leg degree IIIC by Gustilo belong to the most serious open fractures of the lower leg segment. These fractures are, along with the main blood vessels damage, ...often followed by a severe soft-tissue damage of the lower leg. Case report. Patient 20 years old, sustained a severe open fracture of the left lower leg in a car accident, with the disruption of the continuity of the main left lower leg arteries. After clinical examination and radiography (X-ray) diagnosis, the primary treatment of the open fracture fragment wound, reposition of the left lower leg and stabilization of the open fractures by the external skeletal fixator were performed. In the postoperative period, there was a manifestation of acute ischemia of the left foot. Arteriography verified discontinuity of all three crural arteries at the level of the fracture line. The patient was immediately surgically treated. Revascularization of the extremities was performed by reconstruction of the anterior tibial artery by 15 centimeters long saphenous graft interposition with creation of distal anastomosis at the level of the dorsal artery of the foot. Large soft tissue defect and reconstructed vessels were covered with transpositional fasciocutaneous flap. The postoperative course was accompanied by proper graft flow. Control X-ray examination verified fracture of the distal pin of external skeletal fixator with the healing of fractures of the tibia with angular deformity. The external fixator was removed, except for the residual part of the pin in the distal part of the lower leg. During the control examination after completion of the treatment, the patient walked without mobility aid. Conclusion. External skeletal fracture fixation, damaged blood vessels reconstruction and early covering of the soft-tissue shin defect are basic elements in saving the injured limb. The long term goal of treatment of open lower leg fractures with an injury of the main blood vessels is to allow patients return to usual daily activities and professional work.
Play is a natural state in which children enjoy and practice various cognitive, social, and motor skills. Play observations in the natural learning environment helps practitioners and researchers to ...develop appropriate intervention. Previous research based on observations in the natural learning environment indicates a large gap between the behavior of children with autism and that of their peers. Although autism occurs relatively frequently in twins, research on their play interaction is scarce. The aim of this research was to determine the dominant type of play and interaction in three pairs of twins with autism spectrum disorder in an everyday school environment, the duration of interactions, the most frequent initiators of interactions, and whether there was a difference with regard to whom the social interaction was directed. Six boys with autism, i.e., three pairs of twins, participated in this research. Data was collected by employing questionnaires (A general questionnaire; ZQYT; GARS-3), as well as through observations (The Social Interaction Coding Protocol). The twins? behavior and interaction were recorded by a video camera. The results showed that twins were most frequently involved in manipulative and repetitive play, somewhat less frequently in relational play, while they did not participate in symbolic play. There was no statistically significant difference in the duration of interactions when the initiator was a twin compared to those initiated by another child, while interactions initiated by a teacher lasted significantly longer. The twins interacted with their co-twin least frequently. Furthermore, research results indicated that simple socially directed behavior was the most common type of interaction, followed by coordinated socially directed behavior. The obtained results led to the conclusion that twins with autism most frequently participate in two types of play and that the duration of their interaction varies depending on whether the initiator is a child or an adult. In children with autism, play has a significant role in the educational context. Thus, the data obtained by observing the play of twins with autism is significant for practitioners when evaluating how play characteristics can be used to plan interventions for improving the social interactions of children with autism.
Introduction. Hip dysplasia with subluxation represents insufficient coverage of the femur's head placed in the dysplastic acetabulum. This lack of coverage ranges from barely noticeable to condition ...where half of femur head is uncovered by acetabulum. The caput-collum-diaphyseal angle of the proximal femur and anteversion angle of collum are increased, Wiberg?s angle is less than 15? and M?nard-Shenton line is interrupted. Hip joint degeneration occurs very early. When radiological signs of hip joint degenerative changes are discovered in elderly they are associated with pain, limited movements and leg shortening. Case report. We present a 53-year old female treated conservatively in childhood because of hip diyplasia with subluxation. After pregnancy, right hip pain emerged. Clinical and radiological examinations revealed hip subluxation with the signs of degenerative osteoarthritis. Initial treatment was conservative and included drugs and balneophysical procedures. Since pain and movement impairment progressed and became constant, a hip replacement using cementless total endoprosthesis with Fitmore? Hip Stem was done. In the pre-operative preparation, anteroposterior x-ray of the hip(with third of the proximal femur) was made. This X-ray enabled precise planning of implantation endoprosthesis component. The early postoperative course was uneventful with very good therapeutic effect. Following successful physical rehabilitation, the patient returned to work and full life activity. Conclusion. Implantation of the cementless endoprosthesis with Fitmore? Hip Stem in the treatment of secondary hip osteoarthritis is a good choice in the treatment of young patients with good bone quality. Future clinical and radiological follow-up and comparative studies are needed to show the advantages of this type of stem compared to the classical cementless long stem.

Background/Aim. Injury to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) of the knee is the most common ligament injury that requires operative treatment. So far, multiple ACL reconstruction (ACLR) techniques ...using a variety of graft types and implants that fixate the grafts have been described. The aim of the study was to compare two different ACLR techniques using two implant types for suspensory graft fixation in the femoral tunnel. Methods. This randomized-prospective study encompassed 60 patients/subjects who underwent ACLR in the period between January 2015 and December 2017 at the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of Military Hospital ?Dr Vladan Djordjevic? Nis. The ACLR in all patients included in the study was per-formed using a quadruple semitendinosus-gracilis (STG) graft with two types of suspensory fixation on the lateral femoral cortex, whereas the graft fixation in the tibial tunnel was performed using an osteoconductive bioresorbable screw. The post-operative knee stability was assessed 24 months after surgery using the Lachman test and the lateral pivot shift test, as well as the KT-1000 arthrometer test. Results. In patients whose graft was fixated using a fixed-length loop implant, the mean post-surgery knee stability, measured with the KT-1000, was 1.167 ? 0.780; in patients whose graft was fixated using an adjustable-length loop implant, the mean value of the KT-1000 was 1.100 ? 0.894 (p = 0.605). The mean post-surgery International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) score for the fixed-length loop group was 84.887 ? 9.0207, while for the adjustable-length loop the score was 88.327 ? 7.302. The mean Lysholm score was 93.50 ? 6.872 for the fixed-length loop group of patients and 94.00 ? 5.527 for the adjustable-length loop group of patients. Conclusion. Both types of implants can be used with success during ACLR, because the functional results of operative treatment using both implants were identical after surgery.
The purpose of this meta-analysis was to evaluate differences between laparoscopic and open surgery and also the development of local and distant colorectal cancer (CRC) recurrences in treated ...patients.
2,058 cases treated with laparoscopic surgery and 2,365 cases with open surgery from 20 included studies were analyzed, using the random-effects model. The mean difference and odds ratio (OR) with 95% confidence interval (95%CI) were calculated. An overall and a subgroup analysis was performed according to the type of cancer - colon or rectal, and we registered the operating time, number of dissected lymph nodes and need for intraoperative blood transfusion in the laparoscopic and open surgery group of patients.
The operating time in the laparoscopic surgery group was significantly longer than in the open surgery group (mean difference 38.23 min). There was no significant differences in the number of dissected lymph nodes between the two groups when we pooled data for treatment of CRC (p=0.16). The OR of overall and local recurrences was significantly decreased in patients in the laparoscopic surgery group compared to those in the open surgery group (OR 0.83; 95%CI 0.70-0.98; p=0.03) and (OR 0.70; 95%CI 0.50-0.97; p=0.03), respectively. No significant differences were found between patients who underwent laparoscopic surgery and those that had open surgery for distant recurrences after CRC treatment.
There was statistically significant difference between laparoscopic or open surgery and development of local and overall CRC recurrences.
