(1) Background: Heart failure (HF) represents a public health problem due to its high morbidity and mortality, increased consumption of health resources, prolonged hospitalization, and frequent ...readmissions. This study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of a nursing educational intervention using home visits (HV) combined with telephone contact in reducing hospital readmission and the mortality of patients with HF. (2) Methods: This is systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs). The databases used were CINAHL, Cochrane, PubMed and SciELO. A gray literature search included Google Scholar, OpenThesis, Clinical trials and reference lists of eligible studies. RCTs of patients diagnosed with HF were included, distributed between the control group (CG) and intervention (IG), in which the IG was submitted to the nursing intervention with HV and telephone contact in association and analyzed the result of readmission and mortality. (3) Results: The search resulted in 2528 articles and, after following steps, 11 remained for final analysis. A total of 1417 patients were analyzed and distributed: 683 in the IG and 734 in the CG. As a primary outcome, the meta-analysis identified a 36% reduction in the risk of readmission RR 0.64, 95% CI, 0.54−0.75, p < 0.01 and a 35% reduction in mortality in the IG RR 0.65, 95% CI, 0.50−0.85, p < 0.01. Heterogeneity was moderate for readmission and homogeneous for mortality. (4) Conclusions: HV and telephone contact are an effective intervention strategy for nurses’ educational practice.

Palliative Joint Care (PC) is a set of palpable care practices that aim to prevent patients from increasing patients with diseases or a more advanced stage according to their disease. The study aims to analyze the importance through qualitative data and what are the difficulties for the implementation of palliative care in the Adult Intensive Care Unit (ICU). It consists of a literature review, through a bibliographic survey, with an exploratory and relative approach, not on the physiotherapeutic performance in palliative care within the same Intensive Care (ICU) system, and how the environment among professionals is seen and graphic care multidisciplinary teams within hospitals. Realizing the importance of palliative care for critically ill patients, endorsing the phases of the patient's importance, was possible, in addition to the importance in this process. The prioritization of the patient's well-being in an intensive environment is always the focus of the treatment from the initial point, until its delivery, always maximizing its intention, psychological and physical health in a global way, where all the professionals involved are of paramount importance. with responsibility.
Since World War II, there has been a concern related to the quality standard of industrial production. Adapting to the reality of the health sector, it sought to improve the management of the quality ...of its services, aiming, in addition to satisfying its internal and external customers, the safety of its patients. The objective was to settle how technologies influence the quality management of the health sector today. Thus, this article presents as a methodology a bibliographic research in which a literature review of the last five years was carried out in scientific articles, analyzed in the months of November and December 2021, using the following descriptors: technology, health and quality. As a result, it can be seen that technologies are important allies of management in health services, providing patient safety, systematization, organization and agility in processes, reducing workload and reducing costs for the organization. However, it is essential that managers are attentive to develop training and adherence strategies for professionals responsible for feeding the computerized systems, in order to guarantee the quality of information and the achievement of the intended results.
This is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach, carried out through a literature review. The aim of the study was to address the use of educational technologies in self-care guidance for ...ostomy patients. As a method, twelve scientific articles were used, published between 2016 and 2021 on scientific websites and platforms. The results showed that an educational technology aimed at guiding people with an ostomy is important due to the changes that occur after the ostomy and that the use of technologies during educational actions is seen as a tool that complements the process of knowledge construction for care and o taking care of oneself, qualifying interventions in health practice with people with stoma and their families. Health professionals play the role of educators and must participate in the process of elaboration, development and evaluation of the need to implement educational technologies with ostomy patients and their families.

Applying elicitors in plants growing under natural conditions change the metabolic content of volatile compounds extracted from their tissues. Here, we have investigated how abiotic elicitors ...influence the volatile composition of the ethyl acetate extract of Anacardium othonianum seedlings propagated in vitro and ex-vitro cultures. Abiotic factors such as salicylic acid, silver nitrate, light quality, and cultivation mode affected the composition of volatile compounds in ethyl acetate extract of A. othonianum leaves seedlings. GC/MS analysis demonstrated that α-tocopherol was the main metabolite in cultures added with chemical elicitors, reaching 22.48 ± 4.06% in the case of 30 µM salicylic acid. Higher concentrations of salicylic acid decreased the amount of α-tocopherol. The addition of AgNO
3
had a linear effect on α-tocopherol. Thus, the production of this metabolite indicates that salicylic acid and AgNO
3
elicitors positively affect α-tocopherol production at specific concentrations helping to understand how plant culture can be better manipulated.
Components of the antioxidant defense system in Trypanosoma cruzi are potential targets for new drug development. The main goal of the present study was to investigate the genes coding for iron superoxide dismutase (FeSOD) in T. cruzi strains from an evolutionary perspective.
In this study, molecular biology methods and phylogenetic studies were combined with drug assays. The FeSOD-A and FeSOD-B genes of 35 T. cruzi strains, belonging to six discrete typing units (Tcl-TcVI), from different hosts and geographical regions were amplified by PCR and sequenced using the Sanger method. Evolutionary trees were reconstructed based on Bayesian inference and maximum likelihood methods. Drugs that potentially interacted with T. cruzi FeSODs were identified and tested against the parasites.
Our results suggest that T. cruzi FeSOD types are members of distinct families. Gene copies of FeSOD-A (n = 2), FeSOD-B (n = 4) and FeSOD-C (n = 4) were identified in the genome of the T. cruzi reference clone CL Brener. Phylogenetic inference supported the presence of two functional variants of each FeSOD type across the T. cruzi strains. Phylogenetic trees revealed a monophyletic group of FeSOD genes of T. cruzi TcIV strains in both distinct genes. Altogether, our results support the hypothesis that gene duplication followed by divergence shaped the evolution of T. cruzi FeSODs. Two drugs, mangafodipir and polaprezinc, that potentially interact with T. cruzi FeSODs were identified and tested in vitro against amastigotes and trypomastigotes: mangafodipir had a low trypanocidal effect and polaprezinc was inactive.
Our study contributes to a better understanding of the molecular biodiversity of T. cruzi FeSODs. Herein we provide a successful approach to the study of gene/protein families as potential drug targets.

Intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) is a serious problem in preterm infants. Brazilian national data are unknown.
To evaluate the incidence and temporal trend of IVH in very low birth weight (VLBW) ...preterm infants of 18 centers of the Brazilian Network on Neonatal Research.
National prospective multicenter cohort study including inborn VLBW preterm infants aged 230/7- 336/7 weeks’ gestation, admitted between 2013 and 2018. The center with the mean incidence rate was used as reference. We applied two adjustments models using perinatal variables, and perinatal + neonatal diseases.
Of 6,420 infants, 1951/30.4% (range 27.1–33.8%) had IVH and the disease showed a significant trend towards an overall increase in incidence over time (p = 0.003), especially in three centers. Severe IVH (grade III or IV) occurred in 32.2% (range 29.2–34.5%) of those affected by IVH, with a stable incidence. After adjustments for perinatal variables, the differences persisted among centers: for global IVH, 7 centers had significantly lower rates (OR ranging from 0.31 to 0.62), and 2 presented rates higher than the reference center (OR ranging from 2.00 to 12.46) for severe HIV. Considering perinatal and neonatal variables, 6 centers had significantly lower rates (OR ranging from 0.36 to 0.60) for global IVH than the reference center and 3 had statistically higher rates (OR 1.72, 1.86 and 11.78) for severe forms.
The incidence rate of IVH in this Brazilian cohort was high and it revealed an increasing trend towards over time. The severe IVH rate was also worrisome.
•This study provided a multicenter evaluation of the trend of IVH rate in very low birth weight Brazilian preterm infant.•The incidence of global and severe IVH showed a broad variation among the centers, and there was an increasing trend in frequency.•The results may provide an instrument to be employed in quality improvement programs in Brazilian hospitals.

O Câncer de Pênis (CP) é um tumor genital, tem alta incidência em países subdesenvolvidos, cerca de 26.000 casos novos a cada ano. No Brasil, o CP representa 2% dos tipos de canceres que afeta o ...sexo masculino, com maior incidência na região norte e nordeste, que pode chegar até 10%. O surgimento do CP é multifatorial e pode estar relacionado à higiene inadequada, fimose em adultos, tabagismo, muitos parceiros sexuais e HPV. Em geral o CP é indolor, mas pode apresentar dor, sangramento e mal cheiro. Os sintomas característicos são lesões vegetantes e úlceras ou lesões intrauretrais e muitas vezes os pacientes desconhecem sua presença. O presente artigo traz uma revisão integrativa de literatura baseada em informações relevantes para demonstrar a incidência do CP no Brasil e suas principais características, como: fatores de risco, sintomas, prevenção e tratamento. Diante dos dados apresentados pelos artigos é observado que as regiões norte e nordeste realmente são os locais do país com maior incidência. Também é analisado que o CP atinge com mais frequência homens com idade próxima a 60, porém jovens também podem ser acometidos pela doença. A presença da fimose dificulta a limpeza do órgão que gera secreções irritantes à pele, por isso o CP está bastante presente em homens com essa condição.
