New fluorescent ligands for adenosine receptors are described; these compounds were obtained by the insertion, in the N6 position of NECA (a potent adenosine agonist), of dansylaminoalkyl moieties ...with alkyl spacers of increasing carbon chain length (from 3 to 12). Among them, the compound with a C6 alkyl spacer proved to be the most interesting one, showing a marked selectivity for the A1 receptor subtype; furthermore, in fluorescence microscopy assays it proved to be able to visualize and localize this receptor subtype at the level of the molecular layer of the rate cerebellar cortex.
We report on a new technique for the estimation of the total rotational velocity of a non-cooperative target using a single interferometric ISAR system. It uses 3D interferometric ISAR techniques to ...obtain a first estimate of the scatterers' positions and effective rotation vector. Then the second-order local polynomial Fourier transform (LPFT) is applied to estimate the second component of the total rotation vector, and therefore the total vector itself. The true three-dimensional size and shape of a target - an important metric for automatic target recognition - can thus be estimated. Cross-range resolution in the 2D ISAR images is also improved in the process.
The Sea is often a fragile environment to be protected against possible pollutants. This paper contributes to its safeguard by proposing a new buoy equipped with advanced sensors for the detection of ...oil spills. In particular, the buoy is provided with various sensors for the evaluation of both meteorological and marine parameters (e.g. waves, wind, temperature), and chemical/physical data acquired by an electronic nose specifically designed for the detection of hydrocarbons. Suitable network interfaces and a connector towards a Marine Information system (MIS) allow both for real time data visualization and for long-term assessment of water quality.

In this study we measured the ability of three newly-synthesized N-arylalkylindol-3-ylglyoxylylamide derivatives, which have recently been characterized as partial agonists at central benzodiazepine ...binding sites, to prevent the rat cardiac mitochondrial alterations resulting from acute loud noise exposure. In particular, we evaluated the effects of these new compounds on the ultrastructural damage induced by noise stress on the right atrium and ventricle after 6 and 12 hr of loud noise exposure. In parallel experiments, we measured the affinity of these compounds for peripheral benzodiazepine binding sites. Following a single injection of the test products, we observed a cardioprotective effect which was more marked after 6 hr compared with 12 hr of noise exposure. Confirming our recent data showing that full agonists at benzodiazepine receptors produce cardioprotection, we demonstrate in this study that partial agonists, like indolylglyoxylylamides, can also produce a cardioprotective effect. Based on their greater affinity in binding studies, the protective activity seems to be related more to their action at central than at peripheral benzodiazepine receptors.

Il sistema di gestione e consultazione dei dati già realizzato, a partire da un’attenta analisi di altri sistemi informativi e progetti similari, contiene sia dati sensoriali ottenuti mediante tecnologie avanzate per l’esplorazione dei fondali, sia dati di natura storica, archeologica e documentaria derivanti dalle ricerche umanistiche. En The goal of the project Thesaurus (TecnicHe per l’Esplorazione Sottomarina Archeologica mediante l’Utilizzo di Robot aUtonomi in Sciami) is to develop multidisciplinary technologies and scientific methodologies in the aim of pinpointing, conducting a census and documenting artifacts and underwater wrecks of archaeological or historical interest. After having considered other similar projects and information systems, we implemented a system for managing and retrieving data, where sensory data gathered through advanced technologies to explore sea bottom, as well as data acquired through historical, archaeological and documentary research, are stored.
