This research paper presents results of the two years study aimed at eliciting gender segregation among the teaching school personnel in the schools of St. Petersburg. The topic is being elaborated ...through the lens of the education relationships stakeholders (teachers, parents, learners, school management) own views on the problem. Paper shows that the views of the respondents depend on their age, gender and position in school. The most gender-dependent respondents are pedagogues older than 40 and administration staff. Male teachers are more prone to emphasize gender differences than their female colleagues, whereas high school students’ involvement in the subject learning and their perceptions of the teaching style are not anyhow connected with the gender of the teacher. However, high school students' parents prefer to hire men as private tutors, just as the primary scholars' parents opt for female teachers against their male colleagues. The authors conclude that teachers in St. Petersburg schools don’t identify gender segregation as an apparent problem, as well as the whole system doesn’t struggle with the gender imbalance and gender roles differences.
It was pointed out that there is a need to move from expert to methodological culture in higher professional education. The essence of this way of education is not knowledge about entities, but ...patterns and tools for knowledge management. The importance of the development of a methodological culture for creating growth areas inside and outside the existing education system and for a fundamental change in the management system of universities is emphasized. The basic models of universities are investigated by the structural method based on the matrix of values of the key cultures of the world. The search for mechanisms of transition to higher methodological education in Russian culture has been carried out. One of the mechanisms of such transformations is the transition to the authentic Russian culture when students select professors and inversed process when professors select students and universities’ leadership by the locals.
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to substantiate the basic role and to develop recommendations for increasing the attractiveness of a regional market of educational services in modern Russia for ...provision of its global competitiveness in the conditions of industry 4.0.
Design/methodology/approach
The authors use the method of regression analysis for evaluating the influence of the indicators of investment attractiveness of a regional market of educational services – volume of investments into fixed capital in the sphere of education and state expenditures for financing of education – on the indicator of global competitiveness of this market in the conditions of industry 4.0 – number of foreign students – by the example of regions of the Volga Federal District of the Russian Federation. The empirical basis of the research is statistical materials of the Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation for late 2018 and early 2019.
Findings
It is proved that investment attractiveness of a regional market of educational services is the basis of its global competitiveness in the conditions of industry 4.0. A barrier on the path of full-scale digital modernization of the system of higher education in modern Russia is the absence of private venture investments, which shows low investment attractiveness of a regional market of educational services.
Originality/value
It is substantiated that the causes of emergence of the determined barriers have the institutional nature and could be eliminated with the help of the complex of the recommended measures that are connected to usage of the mechanism of public–private partnership for financing of digital modernization education, flexible regulation of investment activities of digital universities, which is selected for each specific project, and coordination of the investment activities of universities at the regional level and creation of a specialized digital portal. Practical implementation of the offered measures will allow achieving significant growth of global competitiveness of a regional market of educational services of modern Russia in the conditions of industry 4.0.
Nisin A belonging to the class I bacteriocins and produced by
subsp.
is widely used in many countries as highly efficient and safe preservative preventing growth of undesirable bacteria in food ...products. Though this compound is efficient at very low concentrations, reduction of its manufacturing cost is still relevant problem. An increased nisin A production requires improved resistance of its producer to nisin. According to some studies, mechanisms of microbial resistance to nisin A and bacitracin have a similar basis, and the same transporters are used to export these antibiotics from cells. To obtain strains with improved growth rate and nisin A productivity, selection of spontaneous bacitracin-resistant
mutants followed by examination of their stability as well as physiological and fermentation characteristics was carried out. Spontaneous mutants were obtained by culturing of
VKPM B-2092 strain on selective bacitracin-containing agar medium. The obtained bacitracin-resistant strain FL-75 was characterized by accelerated growth rate, doubled biomass accumulation, and improved nisin A resistance. The nisin A productivity of FL-75 exceeded that of the parental strain by 25% reaching 8902 U/mL after 14-h cultivation. In addition, FL-75 was characterized by the improved resistance to oxidative stress that has never been reported earlier for bacitracin-resistant microorganisms. Based on the performed characterization of FL-75, we can consider it as a new independent strain promising for the industrial production of food and feed biopreservatives. Comparison of published data and the obtained results allowed us to suppose that the bacitracin resistance mutation in FL-75 is determined rather by an increased expression of a gene homologous to the
gene of
sp. than by the activation of multidrug resistance mechanisms. The revealed resistance of FL-75 to bacitracin and oxidative stress can be regulated by a common transcription factor activating in response to various environmental stresses.
Subject. Deafness, hearing loss are one of the most common sensory pathologies in children. It negatively affects the formation of personality and quality of life. Children with hearing and speech ...impairments require special medical supervision. It is necessary to develop programs to prevent major dental diseases for deaf children. This requires a comprehensive assessment of the dental status, taking into account age, the severity of the main pathology, and socio-psychological factors that contribute to the development of the formation characteristics of the child’s body. Purpose. To analyze the prevalence and intensity of dental caries and periodontal diseases in children with hearing impairment according to various literature data. Methodology. An analysis of publications was carried out using scientific search library databases: PubMed Central, Google, Medline, eLibrary. The selection of materials was based on using keywords. The search included full-text articles. 36 sources were analyzed. Results. Analysis of the prevalence of dental diseases in children with hearing impairment has not been sufficiently published in Russian-language literary sources. According to various literature data, there is a high prevalence of caries and periodontal diseases in children with hearing impairment. Some authors compared these indicators with a group of healthy children. Children with hearing and speech impairments have higher rates of prevalence and intensity of caries and periodontal diseases. Conclusions. The high prevalence of dental diseases in children with hearing impairment is an additional medical and social problem. For this category of the population, it is of great importance for the development of prevention programs.
In modern reality, when economic, trade, scientific and cultural ties are rapidly developing in the world, exchanges are being carried out in the scientific and technical fields, knowledge of a ...foreign language becomes a priority for specialists of almost all levels. The very concept of a “foreign language” is increasingly being replaced by a “language of communication” in various fields of culture, science and technology. There are many different languages in the world, and even more dialects. But the trends are such that for most people knowledge of one common language is enough. And this language does not have to be native to the interlocutors. A common language is able to unite different peoples and cultures, even absolutely opposite, into one common cause. In addition to strengthening cultural ties, the language brings together experts in science and technology. At the same time, the authors acknowledge, the lack of research in modern pedagogical science devoted to identifying the potential of information and communication technologies in the process of professional foreign language training of future specialists that meet the requirements of the Russian state and society, imposed on modern specialists of different profiles, reflected in national and international documents.
