Whether peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) delta is a good target for the chemoprevention and/or treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC) remains controversial. Our goal was to examine ...PPARdelta expression in multistage carcinogenesis of the colorectum and to assess the relevance of PPARdelta in CRC. Immunohistochemical analysis indicated that PPARdelta expression increased from normal mucosa to adenomatous polyps to CRC. In cancer tissues, the PPARdelta protein was accumulated only in those cancer cells with highly malignant morphology, as represented by a large-sized nucleus, round-shaped nucleus, and presence of clear nucleoli. Interestingly, the cancer tissue often contained both PPARdelta-positive and -negative areas, each retaining their respective specific morphological features. Moreover, this pattern persisted even when PPARdelta-positive and -negative cells were aligned next to each other within a single cancer nest or gland and was present in the majority of CRC cases. Immunohistochemistry for Ki-67 proliferation marker showed no significant correlation between Ki-67 and PPARdelta in CRC samples. Based on Western blot analysis and quantitative RT-PCR, high PPARdelta protein expression correlated with high PPARdelta mRNA levels. Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor delta may have a supporting role in tumorigenesis, and the close association between PPARdelta expression and malignant morphology of CRC cells suggests a pivotal role in cancer tissue.

Whether peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) d is a good target for the chemoprevention and/or treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC) remains controversial. Our goal was to examine PPARd ...expression in multistage carcinogenesis of the colorectum and to assess the relevance of PPARd in CRC. Immunohistochemical analysis indicated that PPARd expression increased from normal mucosa to adenomatous polyps to CRC. In cancer tissues, the PPARd protein was accumulated only in those cancer cells with highly malignant morphology, as represented by a large-sized nucleus, round-shaped nucleus, and presence of clear nucleoli. Interestingly, the cancer tissue often contained both PPARd-positive and -negative areas, each retaining their respective specific morphological features. Moreover, this pattern persisted even when PPARd-positive and -negative cells were aligned next to each other within a single cancer nest or gland and was present in the majority of CRC cases. Immunohistochemistry for Ki-67 proliferation marker showed no significant correlation between Ki-67 and PPARd in CRC samples. experiment at the KEK 12-GeV proton synchrotron. ...The front barrel (FB) is composed of 16 modules with a length of 2.75
m, forming the 1.5
m-diameter cylinder. The main barrel (MB) is composed of 32 modules with a length of 5.5
m, forming a 3.5
m-diameter cylinder. Scintillation light is read out through wavelength-shifter (WLS) fibers. In this paper, the design, construction and performance of these detectors together with some R&D results are reported.
We have been developing original technologies for Localized Plasma Confinement (LPC) CVD method. LPC-CVD method achieves both a high deposition rate and a high conversion efficiency. From the results ...of IR analysis and Raman spectroscopy for μc-Si i-layer thin films, it was suggested that the combination of high stretching mode fractions in IR spectra and Raman crystallinity may have a correlation with the conversion efficiency of a-Si/μc-Si tandem cells. An R&D line for processing a-Si/μc-Si solar modules on G5.5 size glass substrates (1100 × 1400 mm 2 ) has been constructed. Module efficiency of 11.1% (Initial) and 10.0% (Stable) has been achieved with a film deposition rate for the μc-Si i-layer of 2.4 nm/s on a G5.5 size substrate.
The experiment E325 has been performed at KEK PS. The data taking has been completed on February 2002. We have measured the invariant mass spectrum of e
+e
− pairs based on the statistics 100 times ...larger than our previous publication3. On the low-mass side of π/ω meson, an enhancement over the known hadronic sources has been observed. The obtained π/ω ratio in the spectrum is smaller than the ratio in pp interaction. This suggests that π meson mass has been modified in nuclear matter.
We carried out an experiment to produce the neutron-rich hypernucleus Λ6H via the (π−, K+) reaction on 6Li target at the pion beam momentum of 1.2 GeV/c (J-PARC E10). In order to calibrate the scale ...of the missing-mass or of the Λ binding energy of the hypernucleus, we also measured the 12C(π+, K+) Λ12C, p(π−, K+)Σ− and p(π+, K+)Σ+reactions. The experiment was performed at the J-PARC Hadron Hall K1.8 beam line in December 2012 and January 2013. The overall collected data sample corresponds to an integrated beam intensity of 1.65 × 1012 pions.
