Using time resolved magneto-optic Kerr effect magnetometry, the precessional reversal properties of continuous soft magnetic layers such as Permalloy and Finemet have been studied in the presence of ...a weak bias field applied parallel to the initial magnetisation direction. This configuration induces for appropriate pulse width and pulse height, a reversed domain with two domain walls. It will be shown how these time resolved studies can be used to investigate the wall velocity and wall mobility of in-plane magnetised thin films.
The findings of non-palpable testicular tumour and contralateral carcinoma in situ testis (CIS) in two men, examined because of infertility, are described. Both patients had no symptoms other than ...infertility and bilateral testicular atrophy. Ultrasonography showed tumour in both cases and abnormal ultrasonic texture of testicular tissue in the contralateral testis. Both patients had seminomas and contralateral CIS. These cases show the value of ultrasonic examination of testis in men examined for infertility, and ultrasonic examination is recommended in these men, particularly if they have testicular atrophy.
Real-time ultrasonography was used to detect the oviductal structures in 33 birds of prey of seven different species. The oviducts were visualized in unanesthetized birds with an ultrasonographic ...scanning probe placed into the cloaca. The left oviduct appeared as an elongated hypoechoic structure with sharply demarcated echogenic borders and an inconsistently detectable luminal echo. The morphologic identification and regular topologic localization of the vaginal portion of the avian oviduct was confirmed with correlative dissection of the reproductive tracts. Ultrasonography is atraumatic and accurate and is a valuable procedure for noninvasive gonadal sex diagnosis in monomorphic species of raptors.

Shortly before the beginning of the Great Depression, certified public accountants were struggling for both an acceptable definition of their role as well as professional recognition. This paper ...describes the environment in which CPAs worked as well as their concerns. Areas reviewed include training and entry into the field, ethical and legal standards, conduct of practice, financial rewards, professional concerns, and perceptions of the future. The purpose of the paper is to increase our appreciation of the challenges and opportunities facing CPAs in 1929.
