We present a new upper limit on cosmic microwave background (CMB) circular polarization from the 2015 flight of Spider, a balloon-borne telescope designed to search for B-mode linear polarization ...from cosmic inflation. Although the level of circular polarization in the CMB is predicted to be very small, experimental limits provide a valuable test of the underlying models. By exploiting the nonzero circular-to-linear polarization coupling of the half-wave plate polarization modulators, data from Spider's 2015 Antarctic flight provide a constraint on Stokes V at 95 and 150 GHz in the range 33 < < 307 . No other limits exist over this full range of angular scales, and Spider improves on the previous limit by several orders of magnitude, providing 95% C.L. constraints on ( + 1 ) C VV ( 2 π ) ranging from 141 to 255 K2 at 150 GHz for a thermal CMB spectrum. As linear CMB polarization experiments become increasingly sensitive, the techniques described in this paper can be applied to obtain even stronger constraints on circular polarization.

Both analysis approaches exhibit dominant pseudoscalar and axial vector components, and show good consistency for the other individual components. Furthermore, the mass dependent analysis reveals that the

Using a data sample of ... vents taken with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy of 3.097 GeV, we search for the first time for the lepton number violating decay ...and the rare inclusive ...decay ... where X denotes any possible particle combination. The Σ− candidates are tagged in ... decays. No signal candidates are found, and the upper limits on the branching fractions at the 90% confidence level are determined to be ... .(ProQuest: ... denotes formulae omitted.)
Quality controls were performed as described previously.6 The Cochran-Armitage trend test was used to test for association between each SNP and disease status by using PLINK.7 AÂ linear regression ...analysis was performed to test for associations between individual genetic markers and log-adjusted total serum IgE (tIgE) concentrations and log-adjusted Eczema Area and Severity Index (EASI) scores, and a multiple logistic regression model was used to test for SNP-SNP interactions among cases only between TSLP and its receptors by using SAS version 9.1 software (SAS Institute, Inc, Cary, NC).
Using a sample of 1.31 × 109 J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector, we perform a study of J/ψ → γηηη′ to search for the X(2370) and ηc in the ηηη′ invariant mass distribution. No significant ...signal for the X(2370) is observed, and we set an upper limit for the product branching fraction of B(J/ψ → γX(2370) ⋅ B(X(2370) → ηηη′) < 9.2 × 10−6 at the 90% confidence level. A clear η c signal is observed for the first time, yielding a product branching fraction of B(J/ψ → γηc) ⋅B (ηc → ηηη′) = (4.86 ± 0.62 (stat) ± 0.45 (sys))×10−5.

Churg–Strauss Syndrome (CSS) is a relatively rare entity characterized by asthma, transient pulmonary infiltrates, eosinophilia and systemic vasculitis. Oral ulceration is a possible clinical ...manifestation of some systemic vasculitides, such as Wegener's granulomatosis (WG) or giant cell arteritis, but has never been reported with Churg–Strauss syndrome. We report the first observation of a palatine ulceration in a 15‐year‐old girl with Churg–Strauss syndrome.
Using 6.32 fb-1 of e+e- collision data collected at the center-of-mass energies between 4.178 and 4.226 GeV with the BESIII detector, we perform an amplitude analysis of the decay D$^+_s$ → K+π+π- ...and determine the amplitudes of the various intermediate states. The absolute branching fraction of D$^+_s$ → K+π+π- is measured to be (6.11 ± 0.18stat. ± 0.11syst.) x 10-3. The branching fractions of the dominant intermediate processes D$^+_s$ → K+ρ0, ρ0 → π+π- and D$^+_s$ → K*(892)0π+, K*(892)0 → K+π- are determined to be (1.96 ± 0.19stat. ± 0.23syst.) x 10-3 and (1.85 ± 0.12stat. ± 0.13syst.) x 10-3, respectively. The intermediate resonances f0(500), f0(980), and f0(1370) are observed for the first time in this channel.
The complex impedance spectroscopy method associated with capacitance-voltage is employed to investigate the resistive switching behavior of the bilayer structure for the first time. The reset ...current is reduced by more than one order for the AlO x /WO x bilayer compared with that of the single-layer structure. It is distinguished that each layer plays an important role. The AlO x layer is the dominating switching layer, while the WO x layer has the functions of controlling the conductive filaments in the AlO x layer and acting as a series impedance to reduce the reset current.
