This research article aimed at exploring the effects of three different assessments (self-, peer-, and teacher-) on students’ text revision. Ten Indonesian tertiary-level EFL students participated in ...this study. It investigated the extent to which three types of assessment facilitate text revision, and analyzed students’ perception of these assessments. The research methods used were students’ text revision and semi-structure interview. The findings revealed two main points. First, the results showed that students made the total of 2,096 revision changes across 40 drafts, with lower percentage of self-feedback incorporated into their revision. Furthermore, the findings indicated that students had a tendency to engage in self-assessment practice more often when revising their drafts. Second, students mostly appreciated teacher-assessment, as opposed to under half of them favoured peer-assessment. In contrast, self-assessment showed a balanced response between positive and negative comments. The implications of this study were provide practical insight to EFL teachers into how three assessment types (teacher-, peer-, and self-) can be developed to help improve students’ writing performance, and to inform EFL teachers with some suggestions to explore students’ perceptions regarding the three assessments to help facilitate quality-enhancing text revisions.

The present study aims at examining EFL teachers’ perceptions of Language Assessment Literacy (hereafter LAL) in the context of Indonesian higher education. To this aim, purposive sampling technique ...was employed to select sixteen EFL university teachers to participate in an online questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. The finding showed that the participants had applied six types of LAL in their teaching practices with formative assessment methods and test validity and reliability being the two most applied (more than 80%) by the participants. Following this, between 75% and 80% participants had applied two other types of LAL, linguistics competence and test results. The last two types of LAL, digital literacy and grading criteria, were applied by less than 70% participants. Another finding from qualitative data revealed that the majority of participants (over 70%) ranked their level of LAL knowledge and skills as low. Despite some limitations, the present study provides some implications including the necessity for the EFL teachers to be equipped with relevant knowledge and skills to make the way for quality assessment. It is therefore university authorities should organize professional development programs with the purpose to help teachers improve their assessment literacy. In addition, all educational parties should collaborate to consistently conduct literacy assessment projects throughout teachers’ professional career. Some suggestions for future research in the field of language assessment are also presented.

The synthesis of magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles with the addition of polyethylene glycol-4000 (PEG-4000) was successfully carried out using a two-step co-precipitation method for the possible ...biosensor applications. In this study, different concentrations of PEG on Fe3O4/PEG (1:0, 4:1, 3:1, 2:1 and 1:1) were used. The crystallite size of the Fe3O4 decreased (14.35 to 12.83 nm) with the increase of PEG concentrations. The presence of a new carbonyl group in the samples indicates the presence of PEG in the Fe3O4. The weight loss percentage of the Fe3O4 increased from 7.7 to 41.46% with the increase of PEG concentrations. With the addition of PEG, Fe3O4 have a well-defined and homogeneous shape due to the presence of PEG which acts as a dispersing and stabilizing agent characterized. The magnetic properties showed that all samples exhibited superparamagnetic behavior. The saturation magnetization values of Fe3O4 decreased with increasing PEG layer and reached values of 65.34 emu/g with zero remanent magnetization and coercivity field while maintaining the behavior superparamagnetism and high saturation magnetization. To evaluate the magnetic properties of the samples to the sensitivity of biosensor, GMR-biosensor was used. Five types of Fe3O4/PEG-alcohol solutions with a concentration of 50 μg/mL were dropped on the surface of the sensor. It was found that there was a decrease in the |ΔV| value with the increase of PEG concentrations, undergoing a linear function |ΔV| = 97.31x+1880.97. Thus, the remarkable fact of saturation magnetization and controllable particle size in these Fe3O4/PEG can serve as promising biosensor applications.

•Magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles with different reaction temperatures (TR= 40, 60 and 80 °C) were synthesized using the co-precipitation method.•Increasing TR would increase the value of Ms, however ...it can weaken the superparamagnetic behavior of the samples.•The ΔV obtained were 1.18 mV (TR = 40 °C), 1.56 mV (TR = 60 °C) and 1.88 mV (TR = 80 °C).•The |ΔV| linearly increases along with increasing reaction temperature, undergoes a linear function |ΔV|= 0.0175x + 0.49.•The feasibility of Fe3O4-based detection using a GMR sensor and Fe3O4 as magnetic labels will be useful for potential bio-detection applications.
Magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles with different reaction temperatures (TR= 40, 60 and 80°C) for the application of bio-detection have been successfully synthesized using the co-precipitation method. The average crystallite sizes of samples increased with the increase of TR and all samples showed high crystallinity with an inverse spinel cubic structure. The grain size increased with the increase of TR. On the other hand, all samples have polycrystalline structure and the brightest intensity at Miller's index (311). From the results of the vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) analysis, it was found that there was an increase in magnetic properties such as Hc, Mr and Ms along with the increase reaction temperature. For example, the saturation magnetization increased with the increase of TR. Next, the giant magnetoresistance (GMR) biosensor was explored by using an exchange-biased GMR sensor with the Wheatstone bridge method to detect Fe3O4 with variations of reaction temperature in an alcohol solution of 50 μg/ml. A DC in-plane magnetic field was used for this measurement. It was found that the Vout curve is sensitive to the presence of Fe3O4 and the maximum Vout appears at 2.8 Oe by applying an external field to the sensor of ± 95 Oe. The Vout difference increased with the increase of reaction temperature, which can be attributed to higher saturation magnetization, causing more difficult fringing of the magnetic field. The relationship between TR and |ΔV| is ΔV = 0.0175x + 0.49, in which |ΔV| linearly increases with the increase of reaction temperature. This study demonstrates the feasibility of Fe3O4-based detection using a GMR sensor and Fe3O4 as magnetic labels will be useful for potential bio-detection applications.
