Developing interpersonal problem-solving competence hold an increasingly important role in the socialization process during childhood and early adolescence. To assess the interpersonal ...problem-solving ability, a five-dimensional 44 items scale called "Interpersonal Problem-Solving Inventory for Elementary School Students" (IPSI) was developed. The scale was administered to a 637 fourth grade student sample in Vietnam. Internal consistency of the IPSI scale was tested (CR: 0.86–0.88; ω: 0.81–0.84; α: 0.81–0.84). EFA results suggested two-factor and five-factor solutions. However, CFA results indicated that the theory-driven five-factor model seems to be the better fitting model of the two. The initial testing of the five-factor model showed a moderately good fitting model with acceptable global fit indices (CFI: 0.925; TLI: 0.920; RMR: 0.048; and RMSEA: 0.034). The findings supported the discriminant validity between the five constructs of the IPSI scale without detecting the collinearity problems between the latent multicollinearity constructs. The scores of IPSI has acceptable internal consistency and construct validity. The caution is warned referring to the validation and the applicability of this instrument.
•Interpersonal Problem-Solving Inventory was developed for elementary school students.•The instrument consists of 44 items that were structured into five subscales.•The scale was administered to a fourth-grade student sample (N = 637) in Vietnam.•Results suggest that the scale has acceptable internal consistency and construct validity.•The tool can help students assess their application of interpersonal problem-solving.
The accurate diagnosis of complicated appendicitis has been improved by using various diagnostic modalities. However, no preoperative diagnostic method could completely confirm the results. ...Therefore, preoperative diagnosis of complicated appendicitis to have the right management is still a huge challenge.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic value of ultrasound combined with pediatric appendicitis score for differentiation between acute uncomplicated appendicitis and acute complicated appendicitis in a pediatric population.
We prospectively evaluated 120 pediatric patients who underwent surgery for acute appendicitis from November 2017 to June 2019. Pediatric appendicitis score (PAS) was calculated and ultrasound (US) was performed before surgery. The histopathology of phlegmonous appendicitis corresponds to uncomplicated appendicitis (AUA), while gangrenous appendicitis and perforation are classified as complicated appendicitis (ACA).
Histopathologically, the results provided a diagnosis of acute appendicitis including 86 (71.7%) patients with AUA and 34 (28.3%) children with ACA. US findings showed a sensitivity of 23.5%, the specificity of 95.4%, PPV of 66.7%, NPV of 75.9%, and an accuracy of 75%. PAS of 8 was found to be the most appropriate cutoff point compatible with ACA; it resulted in a sensitivity of 76.5% and a specificity of 84.1%. Combining ultrasound with a pediatric appendicitis score resulted in a higher specificity to distinguish complicated from uncomplicated appendicitis when compared with ultrasound or PAS solely.
the US is highly specific but nonsensitive for detecting complicated pediatric appendicitis. Combining ultrasound with pediatric appendicitis is a very good concept to distinguish complicated from uncomplicated appendicitis in a pediatric population.
Seven phenolic compounds including (±)‐erythro‐1‐(3′,4′,5′‐trimethoxyphenyl)propane‐1,2‐diol (1), (±)‐threo‐1‐(3′,4′,5′‐trimethoxyphenyl)propane‐1,2‐diol (2), ...(R)‐3‐3‐(3′,4′‐dimethoxyphenyl)propane‐1,2‐diol (3), (±)‐3‐(3′,4′,5′‐trimethoxyphenyl)propane‐1,2‐diol (4), (+)‐syringaresinol (5), (7S,8R,8′R)‐5,5′‐dimethoxylariciresinol (6), juniperoside (7) were isolated from the leaves of Trigonostemon honbaensis. Their chemical structures were determined using ESI‐MS, 1D NMR, and 2D NMR spectra and in comparison with the reported literature. Compounds1‐ 7 were reported from Trigonostemongenus for the first time. At concentration of 30 μM, compounds 1‐7 exhibited weak cytotoxic activity with cell viability percentages as low as 73.3±0.87 % and 79.5±0.23 % on CAL‐27 and MDA‐MB231 cell lines, respectively.

•Under solar irradiation, our synthesized acrylic coating shows a temperature reduction of concrete surface up to 9.5 °C.•Under solar irradiation, the water-borne acrylic coating ...helped to reduce the temperature inside of testing chamber up to 4.5 °C.•After 1500 hrs of the accelerated weathering test, the data indicated that nanoparticles significantly enhanced the weathering resistance of water-borne acrylic coating.
Two pure emulsion acrylic resins, PRIMAL™ AC-261 and DIRTSHIELD™ K-2, were used to fabricate the multifunctional acrylic coating for solar heat reflective system. The ratios of nano-TiO2: micro-TiO2 particles were 2/98, 4/96, and 8/92, whereas the content of heat-reflective nano-SiO2 particles was 1 % by the total solid content of coating film.
The experimental results showed that the appropriate ratio of nano-TiO2 /micro-TiO2/solid resin was 4/96/100, corresponding to the 2 % content of nano-TiO2 particles in the coating. At this optimal ratio, a 60 µm thick coating had an average refractive index of 92.68% in the 425–1400 nm range. Under solar irradiation, our synthesized acrylic nanocomposite coating showed a temperature reduction of concrete surface up to 9.5 °C. When the ambient air temperature was in the range of 40–42 °C, this coating sytem could reduce the temperature of concrete surface and test chamber by 9.5 °C and 4.2 °C, respectively. In case of neat acrylic coating system (without nano-TiO2 particles), it could only reduce the temperature of concrete surface and test chamber by 7.5 °C and 2.5 °C, respectively.
After 1500 h of the accelerated weathering test, no blisters or peelings were observed by naked eyes for both coatings with or without nanoparticles. With nanoparticles, their reflectance index decreased slightly from 92.68% to 90.48%. Without nanoparticles, the refractive index decreased from 89.17% to 86.67%. These findings indicated that adding nano-TiO2 and nano-SiO2 particles to the acrylic coating formulation has significantly increased the reflectivity, cooling insulation efficiency, and weathering resistance of the coating.

This paper draws on the literature on agroforestry, disaster risk reduction, and livelihoods of people on small islands as it applies to a community prospering in conditions of adversity in Kinali ...village on Siau Island, Indonesia. Siau Island produces between one‐third and one‐half of all nutmeg and mace exported from Indonesia. The Kinali community has adopted strategies that enable it to prosper in spite of the risks of living on a small island with an active volcano. The paper charts the sociocultural dynamics of the village and examines how local coping mechanisms based on an agroforestry economy have assisted villagers in dealing with the multiple hazards and constraints arising from the biophysical characteristics of their island. The paper thus contributes to more informed responses to managing volcanic risk.
