This paper explains that the terms "horizontal and vertical scales" are not appropriate in map projections theory. Instead, the authors suggest using the term "scales in the direction of coordinate ...axes." Since it is not possible to read a local linear scale factor in the direction of a coordinate axis immediately from the definition of a local linear scale factor, this paper considers the derivation of new formulae that enable local linear scale factors in the direction of coordinate x and y axes to be calculated. The formula for computing the local linear scale factor in any direction defined by dx and dy is also derived. Furthermore, the position and magnitude of the extreme values of the local linear scale factor are considered and new formulas derived.

At the beginning of the December 2013, it was announced that the successful year-long world-wide project Mathematics of Planet Earth 2013 (MPE2013) under the patronage of UNESCO will continue as ...Mathematics of Planet Earth (MPE)! The idea of Christiane Rousseau, the past president of the Canadian Mathematical Society, about uniting the world’s mathematicians in an effort to bring awareness to global issues has been worked out far beyond what she could have hoped.
U radu proučavamo raspon deformacija u smjeru sjever-jug za uspravnu konusnu projekciju koja je ekvidistantna uzduž meridijana. Prvi dio rada opisuje postupak računanja parametara projekcije na ...temelju zadanih geografskih širina dviju standardnih paralela što se nalaze unutar područja preslikavanja i koji je uobičajen u poznatoj, do sada objavljenoj literaturi. Drugi dio rada proučava raspodjelu deformacija uz zadani uvjet da na sjevernom i južnom dijelu područja koje se prikazuje deformacije budu simetrične. Postavili smo uvjet da su linearna mjerila na rubu područja (uzduž južne i sjeverne paralele) međusobno jednaka. Zadnji dio rada proučava utjecaje širine i položaja područja preslikavanja u smjeru sjever-jug, u konusnim projekcijama ekvidistantnima uzduž meridijana, na raspon deformacija određujući vrijednosti nepoznate konstante proporcionalnosti (parametar n). U prvom dijelu tog istraživanja konstanta proporcionalnosti je bilo koji realni broj iz intervala (0, 1). U drugom dijelu istraživanja, da bismo odredili vrijednost parametra n iz tog intervala, postavili smo dodatni uvjet prema kojem bi linearne deformacije na rubnim paralelama bile po apsolutnoj vrijednosti jednake linearnim deformacijama u srednjem dijelu. Time smo odredili i relaciju koja omogućuje određivanje minimalne i maksimalne vrijednosti raspona linearnog mjerila uzduž paralele za konusne projekcije koje su ekvidistantne uzduž meridijana.
Dan je pregled određivanja točnosti položaja točke određene presijecanjem naprijed uz pretpostavku da su poznate i bez pogrešaka određene dvije točke u kojima su mjereni kutovi prema nepoznatoj ...točki. Procjena točnosti presijecanja naprijed može se naći u literaturi, no izvodi odgovarajućih formula katkad su pogrešni. U nekim slučajevima izvodi su korektni, ali izvedeni zaključci nisu. Nadalje, mogu se naći izvodi koji su korektni, ali nepotpuni. U ovome se radu ukazuje na uočene propuste u literaturi i upotpunjuje jedan od nepotpunih izvoda. Dolazi se do zaključka da se točka s najmanjom položajnom pogreškom ne nalazi na presjecištu međusobno okomitih pravaca.
The 4th Congress of Croatian–Hungarian Geomathematicians, and at the same time the 15th Congress of Hungarian Geomathematicians, was held from May 23 to 25, 2012. After the traditional meetings in ...small Hungarian town Morahalom, for the first time, it was held in Croatia, in the pearl of the Adriatic sea, beautiful Opatija. It gathered 42 participants from five countries out of which there were 24 from Hungary and 15 from Croatia. Its organisers were geomathematical sections of the Croatian Geological Society (CGS) (http://www.geologija.hr/geomat.php) and of the Hungarian Geological Society (HUNIG) (https://www.smartportal.hu) whose main aim was to help the geological usage and adaptation of mathematics.

Početkom prosinca 2013. objavljeno je da će se uspješan jednogodišnji globalni projekt Matematika planeta Zemlje 2013 (MPE2013) pod pokroviteljstvom UNESCO-a nastaviti i dalje kao Matematika planeta ...Zemlje (MPE)! Ideja Christiane Rousseau, prijašnje predsjednicen Kanadskoga matematičkog društva (Canadian Mathematical Society), da se matematičari cijelog svijeta udruže u nastojanju da osvijeste pitanja našeg planeta je uspjela i daleko više od onoga što se ona nadala.
