The spin polarizabilities of the nucleon describe how the spin of the nucleon responds to an incident polarized photon. The most model-independent way to extract the nucleon spin polarizabilities is ...through polarized Compton scattering. Double-polarized Compton scattering asymmetries on the proton were measured in the Δ(1232) region using circularly polarized incident photons and a transversely polarized proton target at the Mainz Microtron. Fits to asymmetry data were performed using a dispersion model calculation and a baryon chiral perturbation theory calculation, and a separation of all four proton spin polarizabilities in the multipole basis was achieved. The analysis based on a dispersion model calculation yields γ(E1E1)=-3.5±1.2, γ(M1M1)=3.16±0.85, γ(E1M2)=-0.7±1.2, and γ(M1E2)=1.99±0.29, in units of 10(-4) fm(4).

photoproduction off quasi-free protons and, for the first time, ...off quasi-free neutrons. The experiment was performed at the electron stretcher accelerator ELSA in Bonn, Germany, with the Crystal Barrel/TAPS detector setup, using a linearly polarized photon beam and a transversely polarized deuterated butanol target. Effects from the Fermi motion of the nucleons within deuterium were removed by a full kinematic reconstruction of the final state invariant mass. A comparison of the data obtained on the proton and on the neutron provides new insight into the isospin structure of the electromagnetic excitation of the nucleon. Earlier measurements of polarization observables in the
γ
p

and
γ

p
reactions are confirmed. The data obtained on the neutron are of particular relevance for clarifying the origin of the narrow structure in the
η
n
system at

. A comparison with recent partial wave analyses favors the interpretation of this structure as arising from interference of the

)
and

(
1650
)
resonances within the
S
11
-partial wave.

The new SPASCHARM experiment for systematic studies of polarization phenomena in strong interactions is under construction now at IHEP, Protvino. The technical beam runs for the experiment first ...stage are planned for the Fall 2016 and Spring 2017. At this stage, the polarization measurements will be carried out with unpolarized hadronic beams of various compositions (π±, K±, p, antiprotons), using the polarized target. The universal large acceptance experimental set-up is capable detecting and identification most charged and neutral particles and reconstructing a large number of resonances produced in beam interactions at polarized proton target, and later on at the second stage, in collisions of polarized proton and antiproton beams with fixed targets of various materials. The large acceptance and wide data acquisition bandwidth would provide the capabilities for simultaneous data accumulation for a number of physics analyses from the measurements of single-spin asymmetries in inclusive and exclusive reactions to reconstructions of final state hyperon polarizations and spin density matrix elements for vector mesons in a wide range of kinematic variables (pT, xF).
A new experiment SPASCHARM for systematic study of polarization phenomena in the inclusive and exclusive hadronic reactions in the energy range of IHEP accelerator U-70 (12–50
GeV) is currently under ...development. The universal experimental setup will detect dozens of various resonances and stable particles produced in collisions of unpolarized beams with the polarized target, and at the next stage, using polarized proton and antiproton beams. At the beginning, the final states consisting of light quarks (
u
,
d
,
s
) will be reconstructed, and later on the charmonium states will be studied. Measurements are planned for a variety of beams:
π
±
,
K
±
,
p
, antiprotons. Hyperon polarization and spin density matrix elements of the vector mesons will be measured along with the single-spin asymmetry (SSA). The 2

-acceptance in azimuth, which is extremely useful for reduction of systematic errors in measurements of spin observables, will be implemented in the experiment. The solid angle acceptance of the setup,

. This provides the opportunity for separating dependences on these two variables which is usually not possible in the setups with a small solid angle acceptance. Unlike some previous polarization experiments, the SPASCHARM will be able to simultaneously accumulate and record data on the both, charged and neutral particle production.
We present a new measurement of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |Vcb| from B0→D*−ℓ+νℓ decays, reconstructed with the full Belle data set of 711 fb−1 integrated luminosity. Two form ...factor parametrizations, originally conceived by the Caprini-Lellouch-Neubert (CLN) and the Boyd, Grinstein and Lebed (BGL) groups, are used to extract the product F(1)ηEW|Vcb| and the decay form factors, where F(1) is the normalization factor and ηEW is a small electroweak correction. In the CLN parametrization we find F(1)ηEW|Vcb|=(35.06±0.15±0.56)×10−3, ρ2=1.106±0.031±0.007, R1(1)=1.229±0.028±0.009, R2(1)=0.852±0.021±0.006. For the BGL parametrization we obtain F(1)ηEW|Vcb|=(34.93±0.23±0.59)×10−3, which is consistent with the world average when correcting for F(1)ηEW. The branching fraction of B0→D*−ℓ+νℓ is measured to be B(B0→D*−ℓ+νℓ)=(4.90±0.02±0.16)%. We also present a new test of lepton flavor universality violation in semileptonic B decays, B(B0→D*−e+ν)B(B0→D*−μ+ν)=1.01±0.01±0.03. The errors quoted correspond to the statistical and systematic uncertainties, respectively. This is the most precise measurement of F(1)ηEW|Vcb| and form factors to date and the first experimental study of the BGL form factor parametrization in an experimental measurement.
