Research on research and development (R&D) internationalization appears in several disciplines, with significant contributions in innovation, international business, management, and strategy ...research. Although the phenomenon is widely used in both research and practice, the impact of this concept on innovation is still not clear due to the multi-disciplinary nature of this relationship. This research gap is the motivation for the present study. Through a systematic review of 42 articles on R&D internationalization appearing in publication outlets for more than two decades, this paper examines the impact of R&D internationalization on innovation within the firm's boundaries. Based on this analysis, we map extant literature on the topic and we present an integrative framework of this relationship for future scholars to further build on, and executives to be guided by.
Knowledge hiding is an intriguing concept with evident adverse effects on organizations, as it restrains creativity, hampers teamwork and collaboration, and ultimately affects organizational ...performance. Conversely, organizational knowledge is a critical resource for sustainable growth and marketplace success. However, studies on the predictors and consequences of knowledge hiding in an organization are scant, while the role of knowledge hiders and seekers in this context is largely unexplored. The present research fills this gap by identifying the predictors and analyzing the consequences of knowledge hiding in an organization. The study, strongly rooted in extant theories on the subject, is quantitative. It develops a conceptual model that it subsequently tests through a global survey of employees of multinational companies. The results show that - and how – knowledge hiding negatively impacts organizational performance, with project team performance and individual creativity being the two mediating variables in the verified model developed. The research further contributes to knowledge through prescriptions on how project team performance can be strengthened through collaborative efforts, and elucidations using the LMX theory. The research finally presents scholars with future research avenues, and executives with practicable directions towards industry application.

During the past decade, ambidexterity research has broadened from its traditional macro-level focus to examine the micro-level perspectives of ambidexterity on various settings. The authors systematically review and critically appraise the literature of ambidexterity from a micro-foundational perspective, within the context of Multinational Enterprises (MNEs). By synthesizing the review findings, the authors develop a comprehensive framework that maps extant literature within and across various disciplines and multiple levels of analysis. As part of their review, the authors also identify and discuss important emerging themes and fruitful areas for future research and present the implications to both research and management practice.
PurposeThis study empirically examines the relationship between human capital ecosystems and entrepreneurial ecosystems. The study also investigates the mediating roles of digital knowledge ...capability and innovation capability and the moderating role of technology turbulence in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.Design/methodology/approachThe study takes inputs from existing literature and resource-based view (RBV) and absorptive capacity theories and develops a theoretical model. Later, the model is validated using the structural equation modeling technique with data collected from India-based startup enterprises.FindingsThe authors found a nexus between human capital and entrepreneurial ecosystems. The study also highlights that enterprises' digital knowledge capability and innovation capability significantly influence the entrepreneurial ecosystem. The study also found that technology turbulence has a significant moderating impact on the relationship between digital knowledge capability and innovation capability in entrepreneurial ecosystems.Research limitations/implicationsThe study shows the importance of developing human capital for improving enterprises' innovation capability and digital knowledge capability, which are also important to develop the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Entrepreneurs can use the proposed model in their enterprises for appropriately developing the entrepreneurial ecosystem.Originality/valueThe authors propose a theoretical model for entrepreneurial ecosystems, from the human capital perspective, which entrepreneurs could use to improve the overall organizational performance. Moreover, the model uses technology turbulence as a moderator, which is also a novel approach. The study also adds valuable knowledge to the overall body of literature of intellectual capital.
The tourism literature has increasingly recognized the significance of various stakeholders on how a region should attempt to apply the principles of sustainable development. Based on stakeholder ...theory, the article aims to investigate how the business model in tourism that is used in Italy’s Langhe region is aligned to the promotion of a “sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work,” in accordance to the United Nations General Assembly 2030 agenda for sustainable development. The research employed a single case study approach, drawing on 36 semistructured interviews with key stakeholders in the region, and the findings show that a variety of stakeholders play an important role toward the sustainable development of the region. The various stakeholders were categorized as either internal or external, followed by the identification of definitive stakeholders. The article concludes with the managerial and theoretical implications of the findings and reports several future research directions.
Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, many organizations have permitted their employees to work from anywhere, giving rise to the phenomenon of the digital workplace, which enables employees to ...do their work by connecting, communicating, and collaborating with other employees. Organizations’ dynamic capabilities play a major role in enabling this transformation of the workplace. As the situation is so recent, there is considerable interest amongst researchers, practitioners, academicians, and policymakers to understand the role of organizations’ dynamic capability in digital transformation of the workplace, as well as the role of digital leadership in improving organization performance and enabling the digital transformation process to happen. Therefore, this study investigates the influence of digital workplace on organization performance and the moderating role of digital leadership capability in digitally transforming the workplace. We developed a research model from our review of the literature review and dynamic capability view (DCV) theory, and then we validated it using the PLS-SEM technique on a sample of 335 respondents from different types of organizations that have embarked on the digital transformation journey. The study finds that the dynamic capabilities of organizations have a significant and positive influence on the digital transformation of the workplace, which in turn improves the employees’ work-life balance resulting better employee performance and superior organization performance. The study also highlights the significant role that digital leadership plays in the digital transformation of the workplace.
Abstract
Advertising through digital channels—known as Digital Marketing—is recognized for its transformative impact on companies and for its immense effect on brand–consumer relationships, as it ...enables interactions with customers at any time and in any place. Based on these realities, this study analyzes several digital platforms and practices that have proven to be effective and assesses digital media dynamics to examine whether they can increase brand awareness on an international level. This research presents an evaluation model for the communication of stakeholder engagement (SE) process, a relevant aspect able to enhance firms’ social legitimacy and reputation. Stakeholder ...involvement is a main component in the corporate social responsibility activities of companies. Drawing on academic literature, international standards and guidelines on SE, a scoring model was created, with the aim to verify companies’ attention to the SE communication process. To test the scoring model, a thematic content analysis was conducted on international hotel companies’ sustainability reports that were published in 2017 in adherence to the Global Reporting Initiative, as well as on their websites. The results show a greater use of sustainability reports for the communication of the SE. The study confirms that large companies are more attention to SE. Hotels inform their stakeholders, but are not ready for their involvement. The research offers a contribution to improve the management of relations with stakeholders and their involvement in the value co-creation. The study highlights the areas that can be strengthened to improve the SE activities and their communication.
