h/AC. In order to study the aging ...effects of the δ phase, two more conditions HT2 (no aging condition 955
°C) and HT3 (955
°C, 3.5
h/AC) were studied in this research. Lever arm creep tests were performed at 650
°C under constant stress 625
MPa. Since HT2 produces no δ phase, the stress rupture life, creep elongation to failure and steady state creep rate of HT2 are largest among these three aging conditions. However, increasing the 955
°C aging time, the stress rupture life, creep elongation and steady state creep rate raise slightly as compared to HT1, because platelet δ phase is more uniformly nucleated and more direction oriented at grain boundaries. Fractographs show ductile fracture patterns mostly and, small portion of inter-granular fracture in the HT2 specimens. Generally only inter-granular fracture is observed in the other two cases of HT1 and HT3. Besides twinning and dislocation mechanisms, grain boundary sliding is also activated, so that creep elongation to failure of HT2 specimens could reach 5.6%, whereas 1% for the other two schemes.
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play important roles in tumorigenesis by regulating oncogenes and tumor-suppressor genes. In this study, miR-187 and miR-200a were found to be expressed at higher levels in ovarian ...cancers than in benign tumors. In patients with ovarian cancer, however, higher levels of miR-187 and miR-200a expression were paradoxically associated with better OS and recurrence-free survival. Further, multivariate analysis showed that miR-187 served as an independent prognostic factor for patients with ovarian cancer (n=176). Computational prediction and microarray results indicated that miR-187 directly targeted Disabled homolog-2 (Dab2), and luciferase reporter assays confirmed that the target site of miR-187 was located at the 3'-UTR of the Dab2 gene. Generally considered as a tumor-suppressor gene, Dab2 may actually promote tumor progression in advanced cancers through epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT). Ectopic expression of miR-187 in cancer cells promoted cell proliferation, but continued overexpression of miR-187 suppressed Dab2 and inhibited migration. Suppression of miR-187 upregulated Dab2, which, by inhibiting E-cadherin levels while stimulating vimentin and phospho-FAK levels, promoted EMT. Reduced ovarian cancer Dab2 histoscores correlated with high miR-187 levels and improved outcomes of patients. Collectively, these results demonstrate distinct dual roles of Dab2 in cell proliferation and tumor progression. In the initial steps of tumorigenesis, upregulated miR-187 suppresses Dab2, promoting cell proliferation. During the later stages, however, continued increased levels of miR-187 inhibits the Dab2-dependent EMT that is associated with tumor invasiveness, which is presumed to be the reason why cancers with high miR-187 levels were associated with better survivals.
Quantum entanglement is a fundamental resource for secure information processing and communications, and hyperentanglement or high-dimensional entanglement has been separately proposed for its high ...data capacity and error resilience. The continuous-variable nature of the energy-time entanglement makes it an ideal candidate for efficient high-dimensional coding with minimal limitations. Here, we demonstrate the first simultaneous high-dimensional hyperentanglement using a biphoton frequency comb to harness the full potential in both the energy and time domain. Long-postulated Hong-Ou-Mandel quantum revival is exhibited, with up to 19 time-bins and 96.5% visibilities. We further witness the high-dimensional energy-time entanglement through Franson revivals, observed periodically at integer time-bins, with 97.8% visibility. This qudit state is observed to simultaneously violate the generalized Bell inequality by up to 10.95 standard deviations while observing recurrent Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt S-parameters up to 2.76. Our biphoton frequency comb provides a platform for photon-efficient quantum communications towards the ultimate channel capacity through energy-time-polarization high-dimensional encoding.
Abstract We study the magnetic and tidal interactions of a gas-giant exoplanet with its host star and with its exomoons, and focus on their retention. We briefly revisit the scaling law for planetary ...dynamo in terms of its mass, radius, and luminosity. Based on the virial theorem, we construct an evolution law for planetary magnetic field and find that its initial entropy is important for the field evolution of a high-mass planet. We estimate the magnetic torques on orbit arising from the star–planet and planet–moon magnetic interactions, and find that it can compensate tidal torques and bypass frequency valleys where dynamical-tide response is ineffective. For exomoon’s retention, we consider two situations. In the presence of a circumplanetary disk (CPD), by comparison between CPD’s inner and outer radii, we find that planets with too strong magnetic fields or too small distance from its host star tend not to host exomoons. During the subsequent CPD-free evolution, we find, by comparison between a planet’s spin-down and a moon’s migration timescales, that hot Jupiters with periods of several days are unlikely to retain large exomoons, albeit they could be surrounded by rings from the debris of tidally disrupted moons. In contrast, moons, if formed around warm or cold Jupiters, can be preserved. Finally, we estimate the radio power and flux density due to the star–planet and planet–moon magnetic interactions and give the upper limit of detection distance by FAST.
A common imaging finding in brain abscess and necrotic glioblastoma is a T2 hypointense margin. The features of this hypointense rim on SWI have not been previously described, to our knowledge. We ...aimed to differentiate abscesses from glioblastomas by assessing the morphology of their lesion margin by using SWI.
T2WI and SWI were performed in 12 abscesses and 20 rim-enhancing glioblastomas. On T2WI and SWI, the prevalence and the border types (complete versus incomplete) of hypointense rims were qualitatively assessed. On SWI, the contour (smooth versus irregular) and the location of hypointense rims relative to the contrast-enhancing rims as well as the prevalence of the "dual rim sign," defined as 2 concentric rims at lesion margins with the outer one being hypointense and the inner one hyperintense relative to cavity contents, were also analyzed.
Prevalence and the border types of the hypointense rims on T2WI were not different between abscesses and glioblastomas. On SWI, there were significantly more hypointense rims that were complete (P < .001) and smooth (P < .001), having the same location as the contrast-enhancing rims (P < .001) for abscesses. A dual rim sign was present in 9 of 12 abscesses but absent in all glioblastomas (P < .001).
SWI may be helpful in differentiating pyogenic abscesses from necrotic glioblastomas. The dual rim sign is the most specific imaging feature distinguishing the 2.
In mammals, the sperm deliver mRNA of unknown function into the oocytes during fertilization. The role of sperm microRNAs (miRNAs) in preimplantation development is unknown. miRNA profiling ...identified six miRNAs expressed in the sperm and the zygotes but not in the oocytes or preimplantation embryos. Sperm contained both the precursor and the mature form of one of these miRNAs, miR-34c. The absence of an increased level of miR-34c in zygotes derived from α-amanitin—treated oocytes and in parthenogenetic oocytes supported a sperm origin of zygotic miR-34c. Injection of miR-34c inhibitor into zygotes inhibited DNA synthesis and significantly suppressed first cleavage division. A 3′ UTR luciferase assay and Western blotting demonstrated that miR-34c regulates B-cell leukemia/lymphoma 2 (Bcl-2) expression in the zygotes. Coinjection of anti—Bcl-2 antibody in zygotes partially reversed but injection of Bcl-2 protein mimicked the effect of miR-34c inhibition. Oocyte activation is essential for the miR-34c action in zygotes, as demonstrated by a decrease in 3′ UTR luciferase reporter activity and Bcl-2 expression after injection of precursor miR-34c into parthenogenetic oocytes. Our findings provide evidence that sperm-borne miR-34c is important for the first cell division via modulation of Bcl-2 expression.
Contrast leakage results in underestimation of the CBV of brain tumors. Our aim was to compare the diagnostic performance of DSC perfusion MR imaging without and with mathematic contrast-leakage ...correction in differentiating PCNSLs and glioblastomas.
Perfusion parameters-CBV, corrected CBV, and leakage coefficient-were measured in enhancing tumor portions and contralateral NAWM of 15 PCNSLs and 20 glioblastomas, respectively. The ratios of CBV and corrected CBV were calculated by dividing the tumor values by those obtained from contralateral NAWM. A paired t test was used to compare tumor K2 and NAWM K2, as well as tumor CBV ratios without and with leakage correction. Comparisons of CBV, corrected CBV, and K2 between PCNSLs and glioblastomas were done by using a 2-sample t test. The diagnostic performance of DSC perfusion MR imaging without and with contrast-leakage correction was assessed with receiver operating characteristic curve analysis.
PCNSLs and glioblastomas demonstrated higher K2 than those in their contralateral NAWM. Corrected CBV ratios were significantly higher than the uncorrected ones for both tumors. PCNSLs had lower CBV ratios (P < .001), lower corrected CBV ratios (P < .001), and higher K2 (P = .001) compared with glioblastomas. In differentiating between PCNSLs and glioblastomas, the area under the curve of the CBV ratio, corrected CBV ratio, and K2 were 0.984, 0.940, and 0.788, respectively.
PCNSL can be differentiated from glioblastoma with CBV ratios, corrected CBV ratios, and K2. CBV without contrast-leakage correction seems to have the best diagnostic performance in differentiating the 2 tumors.

The most recent high-precision data on spin observables Σ, T, P′, E, F, and H reported by the CLAS Collaboration together with the previous data on differential cross sections and spin-density-matrix ...elements reported by the CLAS, A2, GRAAL, SAPHIR, and CBELSA/TAPS Collaborations for the reaction γp→ωp are analyzed within an effective Lagrangian approach. The reaction amplitude is constructed by considering the t-channel π and η exchanges, the s-channel nucleon and nucleon resonances exchanges, the u-channel nucleon exchange, and the generalized contact current. The latter accounts effectively for the interaction current and ensures that the full photoproduction amplitude is gauge invariant. It is shown that all the available CLAS data can be satisfactorily described by considering the N(1520)3/2−, N(1700)3/2−, N(1720)3/2+, N(1860)5/2+, N(1875)3/2−, N(1895)1/2−, and N(2060)5/2− resonances in the s-channel. The parameters of these resonances are extracted and compared with those quoted by PDG.
