Due to its high hardness and high transmittance, ultra-white glass has a strong application prospect in the fields of optoelectronics industry and experimental instruments. However, because of its ...brittleness, it was still a difficult problem in the machining industry. Surface modification provides a basic research idea for ultra-white glass microstructure processing. An effective method to obtain surface modified area on ultra-white glass was presented. The modified zone on the surface of ultra-white glass was induced by the technique of coating and femtosecond laser-assisted chemical etching. The method combines vacuum coating with femtosecond laser irradiation. Next, the modified glass was processed with highly selective potassium hydroxide solution. In order to control the surface size more efficiently, the optimization experiment of laser parameters and chemical parameters on the machining process was carried out. The experimental results show that the method made the surface modification of ultra-white glass more easily and provides basic research for fabricating microchannels on the material.
We present here the results of the first part of the VLBI Ecliptic Plane Survey (VEPS) program. The goal of the program is to find all compact sources within of the ecliptic plane that are suitable ...as calibrators for anticipated phase referencing observations of spacecraft, and determine their positions with accuracy at the 1.5 nrad level. We run the program in two modes: search and refine. In the search mode, a complete sample of all sources brighter than 50 mJy at 5 GHz listed in the Parkes-MIT-NRAO and Green Bank 6 cm (GB6) catalogs, except those previously detected with VLBI, is observed. In the refining mode, the positions of all ecliptic plane sources, including those found in the search mode, are improved. By 2016 October, thirteen 24 hr sessions that targeted all sources brighter than 100 mJy have been observed and analyzed. Among 3320 observed target sources, 555 objects have been detected. We also conducted a number of follow-up VLBI experiments in the refining mode and improved the positions of 249 ecliptic plane sources.
With the rapid development of public-private-partnership (PPP) urban rail transit (URT) projects in China, their social responsibility (SR) is considered to provide a useful way of guaranteeing ...passengers’ rights and to help urban sustainable development. However, what remains largely unknown is how passengers’ perceptions of the SR effort of such projects’ influences their satisfaction. To bridge this knowledge gap, the current study first proposes a conceptual model based on social responsibility and satisfaction theories. Hypotheses are then tested through bootstrapping analysis based on data drawn from a questionnaire survey of 436 residents from three typical PPP URT projects. The results show that the relationship between the passengers’ perceived SR effort and their satisfaction with PPP URT projects is sequentially and doubly mediated by perceived quality and perceived value. The findings contribute to the current body of knowledge in social responsibility and user satisfaction by introducing passenger-perceived SR effort as an antecedent factor, and offer valuable practical and managerial implications for the projects’ operation management to help promote urban sustainability.
Most small intestinal lipomas are treated surgically, and some require repeated surgeries for multiple lipomas. However, application of endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) technology in the deep ...small intestine is rarely reported owing to the special anatomical structure of the small intestine, medical equipment limitations, and the lack of relevant experience among endoscopists.
Two patients with small intestinal lipomas treated at the Air Force Medical Center from November 2015 to September 2019 were selected to undergo balloon-assisted ESD to treat the lipomas and explore the technical feasibility and safety of ESD for treating small intestinal lipomas. The two patients successfully underwent balloon-assisted ESD to treat four small intestinal lipomas, with a complete resection rate of 100% (4/4), without intraoperative or postoperative bleeding, perforation, or other complications. After 3-6 mo of postoperative follow-up, the clinical symptoms caused by the lipomas were significantly relieved or disappeared after treatment.
Balloon-assisted ESD is a safe and reliable new method for treating deep intestinal lipomas and shows good clinical feasibility.

Purpose
– This paper aims to identify the critical issues to be considered by developers and practitioners when embarking on their first green residential retirement project in Australia. With an ...increasingly ageing population and widespread acceptance of the need for sustainable development in Australia, the demand for green retirement villages is increasing.
Design/methodology/approach
– In view of the lack of adequate historical data for quantitative analysis, a case study approach is used to examine the successful delivery of green retirement villages. Face-to-face interviews and document analyses were conducted for data collection.
Findings
– The findings of the study indicate that one of the major obstacles to the provision of affordable green retirement villages is the higher initial costs involved. However, positive aspects were identified, the most significant of which relate to the innovative design of site and floor plans; adoption of thermally efficient building materials; orientation of windows; installation of water harvesting and recycling systems, water conservation fittings and appliances; and waste management during the construction stage. With the adoption of these measures, it is believed that sustainable retirement development can be achieved without significant additional capital costs.
Practical implications
– The research findings serve as a guide for developers in decision-making throughout the project life-cycle when introducing green features into the provision of affordable retirement accommodation.
Originality/value
– This paper provides insights into the means by which affordable green residential retirement projects for aged people can be successfully completed.
Broodiness, a maternal behavior, is accompanied by the atresia of follicles and the serious degradation of poultry reproductive performance. The comparison of follicles between brooding and laying ...hens is usually an ideal model for exploring the regulation mechanism of follicle atresia. In this study, we selected three brooding hens and three laying hens to collect their follicles for whole transcriptome sequencing. The results demonstrated different expression patterns between the follicles of brooding hens and laying hens. In the top 10 differentially expressed genes with the highest expression, MMP10 was relatively low expressed in the follicles of brooding hens, but other nine genes were relatively highly expressed, including LRR1, RACK1, SPECC1L, ABHD2, COL6A3, RPS17, ATRN, BIRC6, PGAM1 and SPECC1L. While miR-21-3p, miR-146a-5p, miR-142-5p and miR-1b-3p were highly expressed in the follicles of brooding hen, miR-106-5p, miR-451, miR-183, miR-7, miR-2188-5p and miR-182-5p were lowly expressed in brooding hen. In addition, we identified 124 lncRNAs specifically expressed in the follicles of brooding hens and 147 lncRNAs specifically expressed in the follicles of laying hens. Our results may provide a theoretical basis for further exploration of the molecular mechanism of broodiness in broilers.
We aimed to explore the relationship between the circadian gene TIMELESS (TIM) in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and prognosis, so as to provide a reference for subsequent targeted therapy and ...patient prognosis. A total of 72 patients with NSCLC were selected as the study cohort. Immunohistochemistry and Western blot were used to measure the expressions of TIM in NSCLC and para-carcinoma tissues (PCT). RT-qPCR was used to measure the mRNA expression of TIM. The Kaplan-Meier method was further utilized to generate survival curves for a log-rank test single-factor analysis and a Cox regression multi-factor analysis. The relationship between the TIM gene expression and the clinical features and survival were explored. The results indicated that the mRNA and protein expressions of TIM in the NSCLC tissues were higher than those in the PCT (
P
< 0.01). An immunohistochemistry assay showed that the expression rate of TIM in the NSCLC tissues of the 72 cases was 84.72%. The TIM expression was significantly different in terms of the NSCLC differentiation level, the tumor size, the lymph node metastasis, the TNM stage, and the survival rate (P < 0.05, P < 0.01). A Cox regression analysis indicated that the degree of TIM expression can be used as an independent observation index that indicates the prognosis of NSCLC. The TIM expression was significantly increased in the NSCLC tissues, and the higher the degree of positive expression, the worse the clinical prognosis. The expression of TIM is of certain auxiliary value in determining the degree of NSCLC malignancy, the lymph node metastasis, and the evaluation of the prognosis.
