Scant attention has been paid to how risk perceptions of public health crises may affect people's mental health.
: The aims of this study are to (1) construct a conceptual framework for risk ...perception and depression of people in public health crises, (2) examine how the mental health of people in the crisis of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is affected by risk perception and its associated factors, including distance perception of the crisis and support of prevention and control policies, and (3) propose policy recommendations on how to deal with psychological problems in the current COVID-19 crisis.
: Online questionnaire survey was implemented. A total of 6373 people visited the questionnaire online, 1115 people completed the questionnaire, and the number of valid questionnaires was 1081. Structural equation modeling was employed for data analysis.
: Risk perception and its associated factors significantly affect the mental health of people in public health crises. Specifically, (1) distance perception of public health crises is negatively associated with depression among people, (2) affective risk perception is positively associated with depression of people in public health crises, (3) cognitive risk perception is negatively associated with depression of people in public health crises, and (4) support of prevention and control policies is negatively associated with depression of people in public health crises.
: The findings of this study suggest that risk perception plays an important role in affecting the mental health of people in a public health crisis. Therefore, health policies aiming to improve the psychological wellbeing of the people in a public health crisis should take risk perception into consideration.
NiO nanoflakes are created with a simple hydrothermal method on 3D (three‐dimensional) graphene scaffolds grown on Ni foams by microwave plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (MPCVD). Such ...as‐grown NiO‐3D graphene hierarchical composites are then applied as monolithic electrodes for a pseudo‐supercapacitor application without needing binders or metal‐based current collectors. Electrochemical measurements impart that the hierarchical NiO‐3D graphene composite delivers a high specific capacitance of ≈1829 F g−1 at a current density of 3 A g−1 (the theoretical capacitance of NiO is 2584 F g−1). Furthermore, a full‐cell is realized with an energy density of 138 Wh kg−1 at a power density of 5.25 kW kg−1, which is much superior to commercial ones as well as reported devices in asymmetric capacitors of NiO. More attractively, this asymmetric supercapacitor exhibits capacitance retention of 85% after 5000 cycles relative to the initial value of the 1st cycle.
Hierarchical nickel oxide nanoflake 3D graphene electrodes are developed by growing NiO nanoflakes atop 3D architecture of graphene on Ni foam. The optimum structure enables the 3‐electrode pseudocapacitors and 2‐electrode full cells to deliver outstanding electrochemical performance. In a full cell configuration, the achieved power density is much higher than that of commercially available asymmetric capacitors.

Novel ultrafine nanoporous Pt-Cu alloy with a Pt:Cu stoichiometric ratio of 3:1 (np-Pt sub(3)Cu) has been prepared by mechanical alloying and subsequent two-step chemical dealloying. The obtained ...np-Pt sub(3)Cu has uniform and bicontinuous ligament(metal)-channel(void) structure with the ligament size of 3.3 + or - 0.7 nm. To explore its potential application in energy conversion reactions, the np-Pt sub(3)Cu alloy has been examined as electrocatalyst for the operating reactions in direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs). Compared with the commercial JM Pt/C, a benchmark catalyst extensively used in fuel cell research, the np-Pt sub(3)Cu alloy demonstrates better performance in both the methanol electro-oxidation and oxygen reduction reactions in acidic medium. Theoretical calculations reveal that the electronic structure of Pt has been modified with the shift of Pt d-band center due to alloying with Cu, which can decrease CO poisoning and enhance the methanol oxidation and oxygen reduction reaction activities.
Wood has unique advantages. However, the rigid structure and intrinsic insulating nature of wood limit its applications. Herein, a two-step process is developed to render wood veneers conductive and ...flexible. In the first step, most of the lignin and hemicellulose in the wood veneer are removed by hydrothermal treatment. In the second step, electroless Ni plating and subsequent pressing are carried out. The obtained Ni-plated veneer is flexible and bendable, and has a high tensile strength of 21.9 and 4.4 MPa along and across the channel direction, respectively, the former of which is considerably higher than that of carbon cloth and graphene foam. Moreover, this product exhibits high electrical conductivity around 1.1 × 103 S m−1, which is comparable to that of carbon cloth and graphene foam, and significantly outperforms previously reported wood-based conductors. This work reveals an effective strategy to transform cheap and renewable wood into a high value-added product that rivals expensive carbon cloth and graphene foam. The obtained product is particularly promising as a current collector for flexible and wearable electrochemical energy storage devices such as supercapacitors and Li-ion batteries.
Lung cancer ranks among the most common types of cancer. Noninvasive computer-aided diagnosis can enable large-scale rapid screening of potential patients with lung cancer. Deep learning methods have ...already been applied for the automatic diagnosis of lung cancer in the past. Due to restrictions caused by single modality images of dataset as well as the lack of approaches that allow for a reliable extraction of fine-grained features from different imaging modalities, research regarding the automated diagnosis of lung cancer based on noninvasive clinical images requires further study. In this paper, we present a deep learning architecture that combines the fine-grained feature from PET and CT images that allow for the noninvasive diagnosis of lung cancer. The multidimensional (regarding the channel as well as spatial dimensions) attention mechanism is used to effectively reduce feature noise when extracting fine-grained features from each imaging modality. We conduct a comparative analysis of the two aspects of feature fusion and attention mechanism through quantitative evaluation metrics and the visualization of deep learning process. In our experiments, we obtained an area under the ROC curve of 0.92 (balanced accuracy = 0.72) and a more focused network attention which shows the effective extraction of the fine-grained feature from each imaging modality.

The electrochemical dealloying of rapidly solidified (RS) Zn–Ag alloys in a 5wt.% HCl solution and 1M NaCl solution has been investigated using electrochemical measurements and microstructural analysis. The results show that the electrochemical properties of the RS Zn–Ag alloys are associated not only with the alloy composition, but with the phase constitution of the alloys. Nanoporous silver (NPS) ribbons can be fabricated through potentiostatically dealloying the RS Zn–Ag alloys in both solutions. Moreover, a minor difference in the applied potential has a significant influence on the dealloying process and formation of NPS. The critical potential and polarization behavior of the Zn–Ag alloys have also been discussed, as well as surface diffusion of Ag adatoms.
Electrochemical dealloying of a single-phase Al2Au alloy in sodium chloride solutions has been investigated considering influence of potential and electrolyte concentration. Both open-circuit ...potentials and corrosion potentials of Al2Au decrease with increasing electrolyte concentration and temperature. The overpotential and electrolyte concentration have a significant influence on dealloying behaviors of Al2Au, such as steady-state current density and dealloying duration. Nanoporous gold (NPG) can be fabricated by potentiostatic dealloying of Al2Au in the NaCl solutions. Moreover, surface diffusion evaluation demonstrates that there exist good linear relationships between the logarithm of surface diffusivities of Au adatoms (Auad) and overpotential, and between the surface diffusivities of Auad and electrolyte concentration. In addition, the activation energy decreases with increasing overpotential or chloride ion concentration.
Advanced glycation end products (AGEs) are the compounds produced by non-enzymatic glycation of proteins, which are involved in diabetic-related complications. To investigate the potential ...anti-glycation activity of Myriocin (Myr), a fungal metabolite of Cordyceps, the effect of Myr on the formation of AGEs resulted from the glycation of bovine serum albumin (BSA) and the interaction between Myr and BSA were studied by multiple spectroscopic techniques and computational simulations. We found that Myr inhibited the formation of AGEs at the end stage of glycation reaction and exhibited strong anti-fibrillation activity. Spectroscopic analysis revealed that Myr quenched the fluorescence of BSA in a static process, with the possible formation of a complex (approximate molar ratio of 1:1). The binding between BSA and Myr mainly depended on van der Waals interaction, hydrophobic interactions and hydrogen bond. The synchronous fluorescence and UV-visible (UV-vis) spectra results indicated that the conformation of BSA altered in the presence of Myr. The fluorescent probe displacement experiments and molecular docking suggested that Myr primarily bound to binding site 1 (subdomain IIA) of BSA. These findings demonstrate that Myr is a potential anti-glycation agent and provide a theoretical basis for the further functional research of Myr in the prevention and treatment of AGEs-related diseases.
