The studies and clinical applications of Ranibizumab and Bevacizumab which are new anti-VEGF drugs have made significant progression on the treatment of corneal neovascularization. The effectiveness ...and safety of Ranibizumab compared with Bevacizumab has been the focus of the debate for scholars nowadays. Some experiments showed that the effect of Bevacizumab was better than Ranibizumab. But combined with our experiments, Ranibizumab represented the advantages of shorter effect time, stronger affinity with VEGF-A, better tolerance with repeated injections etc. So we believed that the adequate doses of ranibizumab had better effects. Its clinical application should be paid much attention.
Introduction
The aim of this work is to investigate the dynamic changes of capsular-intraocular lens (IOL) adhesion in plate-haptic hydrophilic and loop-haptic hydrophobic eyes.
Methods
Cataract eyes ...that met the inclusion criteria were randomly assigned to receive implantation of a plate-haptic hydrophilic or loop-haptic IOL. The anterior capsular adhesion, posterior capsular adhesion, and the configurations of the capsular bend were evaluated using swept-source optical coherence tomography at 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, and 3 months postoperatively.
Results
In total, 66 eyes of 66 patients were eligible for the analysis: 33 in the plate-haptic group and 33 in the loop-haptic group. The contact between the anterior capsule and IOL in the plate-haptic group was earlier than that in the loop-haptic group upon comparing the measurements taken at 1 day and 1 week (

= 0.003, respectively). The complete attachment of the posterior capsule and IOL in the plate-haptic group was significantly greater at 1 week, 1 month, and 3 months (

= 0.005, respectively). Furthermore, a new type of capsular bend, “cocked adhesion,” was observed in the plate-haptic eyes.
Conclusions
The plate-haptic IOL demonstrated excellent capsular adhesion compared to the loop-haptic IOL, which was probably attributed to haptic compressibility. A special cocked configuration of the capsular bend in plate-haptic IOL was observed for the first time. Further studies are warranted to confirm the effect of the new type of capsular bend.
Introduction
This study analyzed the visual outcome following cataract surgery with toric intraocular lenses (IOLs) in patients older than 80 years with corneal astigmatism.
Methods
A total of 159 ...patients (159 eyes) older than 80 years with corneal astigmatism (≥ 0.75 D) were included. Fifty-three eyes received Acrysof IQ® toric IOLs (SN6AT2–5), while the others received non-toric IOLs: 51 eyes received Acrysof IQ® IOLs (SN60WF) and 55 eyes received A1-UV IOLs. The uncorrected distance visual acuity, corrected distance visual acuity, and refraction (spherical equivalent, refractive cylinder) were assessed at 3 months postoperatively. The prediction error of refractive outcome and percentages of eyes within ± 0.50 D and ± 1.00 D in the toric IOL group obtained using five toric IOL formulas (Barrett predicted posterior corneal astigmatism (PCA), Barrett measured PCA, Kane, EVO 2.0 and Næser–Savini) were compared.
Results
At 3 months postoperatively, the average uncorrected distance visual acuity was better in the toric IOL group than the non-toric IOL group (

< 0.001). The mean residual refractive cylinder was lower in the toric IOL group than the non-toric IOL group (
p
< 0.001). The Næser–Savini formula achieved the lowest mean absolute error (0.39 D) and had the highest percentages of eyes within an absolute error of 0.50 D and 1.00 D (72% and 98%) compared to the other formulas.
Conclusion
The results demonstrate the efficacy of toric IOL implantation in patients older than 80 years with corneal astigmatism and provide strong evidence for cataract surgeons to encourage such patients to choose toric IOLs.
Purpose
To investigate the characteristics of eyes with large variations in predicted refraction using four traditional intraocular lens (IOL) formulas and evaluate the accuracy of new-generation ...intraocular lens power calculation formulas.
Methods
Eyes that had variation in predicted refraction (≥ 0.75 D) using four traditional formulas (SRK/T, Holladay 1, Hoffer Q, and Haigis formulas) were included. Axial length (AL), anterior chamber depth (ACD), average keratometry (AK), and the ratio of axial length to corneal radius (AL/CR) were measured. New-generation formulas (Barrett Universal II, Emmetropia Verifying Optical 2.0, Kane, and Pearl-DGS formulas) and traditional formulas were compared. The median absolute error (MedAE) was the main parameter to evaluate the accuracy of formulas.
Results
A total of 79 participants (79 eyes) who had variation in predicted refraction of (≥ 0.75 D) using four traditional formulas out of 510 eyes (510 patients) underwent uncomplicated cataract surgeries. The Barrett Universal II (0.29 D), EVO 2.0 (0.31 D), Kane (0.30 D), and Pearl-DGS (0.33 D) formulas produced significantly lower median absolute errors (MedAEs) than the Hoffer Q (0.61 D) and Holladay 1 (0.59 D) formulas (
P
< 0.01). The Wang-Koch (WK) adjustment significantly improved the accuracy of the Holladay 1 formula in long eyes (
P
< 0.001).
Conclusions
Abnormal AL, ACD, and AK are more likely to lead to prediction errors using traditional formulas. New-generation formulas and traditional formulas with WK adjustment showed satisfactory prediction accuracy.
Reprogrammed energy metabolism as an emerging hallmark of cancer has recently drawn special attention since it facilitate cell growth and proliferation. Recently, long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have ...been served as key regulators implicated in tumor development and progression by promoting proliferation, invasion and metastasis. However, the associations of lncRNAs with cellular energy metabolism in lung cancer (LC) need to be clarified.
Here, we conducted bioinformatics analysis and found insulin-like growth factor binding protein 4-1 (IGFBP4-1) as a new candidate lncRNA located in the upstream region of IGFBP4 gene. The expression levels of lnc-IGFBP4-1, mRNA levels of IGFBP4 in 159 paired lung cancer samples and adjacent, histological normal tissues by qRT-PCR. Over-expression and RNA interference (RNAi) approaches were adopted to investigate the biological functions of lnc-IGFBP4-1. The intracellular ATP level was measured using the Cell Titer-Glo Luminescent Cell Viability Assay kit, and changes in metabolic enzymes were examined in cancer cells and normal pulmonary epithelial cells with qRT-PCR.
Our results showed that lnc-IGFBP4-1 was significantly up-regulated in LC tissues compared with corresponding non-tumor tissues (P < 0.01), and its expression level was significantly correlated with TNM stage (P < 0.01) and lymph node metastasis (P < 0.05). Further investigation showed that overexpression of lnc-IGFBP4-1 significantly promoted LC cell proliferation in vitro and in vivo, while downregulation of endogenous lnc-IGFBP4-1 could inhibited cell proliferation and induce apoptosis. Moreover, we found lnc-IGFBP4-1 could influences ATP production levels and expression of enzymes including HK2, PDK1 and LDHA, in addition, decline in both ATP production and these enzymes in response to 2-DG and 2-DG-combined Rho123, respectively, was observed in lnc-IGFBP4-1-overespressing LC cells, indicative of an enhanced aerobic glycolysis rate. Finally, lnc-IGFBP4-1 was observed to negatively correlate with gene IGFBP4, and lower expression level of IGFPB4 was found after lnc-IGFBP4-1-overexpression was transfected into PC9 cells, higher expression level of IGFPB4 was also found after lnc-IGFBP4-1-downregulation was transfected into GLC-82 cells, which indicates that IGFBP4 may exert its targeting function regulated by lnc-IGFBP4-1.
Taken together, these findings provide the first evidence that lnc-IGFBP4-1 is significantly up-regulated in LC tissues and plays a positive role in cell proliferation and metastasis through possible mechanism of reprogramming tumor cell energy metabolism, which suggests that lnc-IGFBP4-1 may be a promising biomarker in LC development and progression and as a potential therapeutic target for LC intervention.
Background The epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) plays an indispensable role in the development and progression of Endometrial cancer (EC). Nevertheless, little evidence is reported to uncover ...the functionality and application of EMT-related molecules in the prognosis of EC. This study aims to develop novel molecular markers for prognosis prediction in patients with EC. Methods RNA sequencing profiles of EC patients obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database were used to screen differential expression genes (DEGs) between tumors and normal tissues. The Cox regression model with the LASSO method was utilized to identify survival-related DEGs and to establish a prognostic signature whose performance was evaluated by Kaplan-Meier curve, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) and calibration curve. Eventually, functional enrichment analysis and cellular experiments were performed to reveal the roles of prognosis-related genes in EC progression. Results A total of 540 EMT-related DEGs in EC were screened, and subsequently a four-gene risk signature comprising SIRT2, SIX1, CDKN2A and PGR was established to predict overall survival of EC. This risk signature could serve as a meaningfully independent indicator for EC prognosis via multivariate Cox regression (HR = 2.002, 95%CI = 1.433-2.798; P < 0.001). The nomogram integrating the risk signature and clinical characteristics exhibited robust validity and performance at predicting EC overall survival indicated by ROC and calibration curve. Functional enrichment analysis revealed that the EMT-related genes risk signature was associated with extracellular matrix organization, mesenchymal development and cellular component morphogenesis, suggesting its possible relevance to epithelial-mesenchymal transition and cancer progression. Functionally, we demonstrated that the silencing of SIX1, SIRT2 and CDKN2A expression could accelerate the migratory and invasive capacities of tumor cells, whereas the downregulation of PGR dramatically inhibited cancer cells migration and invasion. Conclusions Altogether, a novel four-EMT-related genes signature was a potential biomarker for EC prognosis. Many long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have emerged as good biomarkers and potential therapeutic targets for various cancers. We aimed to get a detailed understanding of the lncRNA landscape that is ...associated with lung cancer survival. A comparative analysis between our RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) data and TCGA datasets was conducted to reveal lncRNAs with significant correlations with lung cancer survival and then the association of the most promising lncRNA was validated in a cohort of 243 lung cancer patients. Comparing RNA-seq data with TCGA ones, 84 dysregulated lncRNAs were identified in lung cancer tissues, among which 10 lncRNAs were significantly associated with lung cancer survival. LINC01537 was the most significant one (
= 2.95 × 10
). Validation analysis confirmed the downregulation of LINC01537 in lung cancer. LINC01537 was observed to inhibit tumor growth and metastasis. It also increased cellular sensitivity to nilotinib. PDE2A (phosphodiesterase 2A) was further identified to be a target of LINC01537 and it was seen that LINC01537 promoted PDE2A expression via RNA-RNA interaction to stabilize PDE2A mRNA and thus echoed effects of PDE2A on energy metabolism including both Warburg effect and mitochondrial respiration. Other regulators of tumor energy metabolism were also affected by LINC01537. These results elucidate a suppressed role of LINC01537 in lung cancer development involving tumor metabolic reprogramming, and we believe that it might be a biomarker for cancer survival prediction and therapy.
Rural-to-urban migrant workers are a large group in China, and they are often more prone to mental health problems, especially depression. We expected to use meta-analysis to estimate the prevalence ...of depressive symptoms and the influencing factors of depressive symptoms among rural-to-urban migrant workers in China.
PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Scopus, CINAHL Complete, PsycARTICLES, CNKI, Wan Fang, CBM, and Cochrane were searched on October 16, 2021. The data were analyzed using OR and random effect model in Revman5.3 and STATA 15 Software.
We included 30 studies involving 43,884 rural-to-urban migrant workers. The prevalence of depressive symptoms among rural-to-urban migrant workers in China was 0.28 (95% CI:0.22, 0.34); Results of the meta-analysis showed that working hours, sleep status, self-rated health, financial condition, job satisfaction, marriage, and social support were correlated with depressive symptoms.
The systematic review and meta-analysis included only cross-sectional studies, and more types of original studies on depressive symptoms of rural-to-urban migrant workers in China should be carried out in the future.
The prevalence of depressive symptoms among rural-to-urban migrant workers in China is 28%. Government departments can intervene early in the process to promote the mental health of this group based on influencing factors of depressive symptoms among rural-to-urban migrant workers in China.

Soy isoflavones have been reported to exhibit anti-tumor effects. We hypothesize that genetic variants in soy isoflavone metabolism-related genes are associated with the risk of lung cancer.
A two-stage case-control study design was conducted in this study. The discovery stage included 300 lung cancer cases and 600 healthy controls to evaluate the association of candidate genetic variants with lung cancer risk. The validation stage involved 1200 cases and 1200 controls to validate the associations found. Furthermore, qPCR was performed to assess the mRNA expression levels of different genotypes of the SNP. ELISA was used to explore the association between genotype and soy isoflavone levels, as well as the association between soy isoflavone levels and lung cancer risk.
A nonlinear association was observed between plasma soy isoflavone levels and lung cancer risk, with higher soy isoflavone levels associated with lower lung cancer risk (P < 0.001). The two-stage case-control study identified that UGT1A1 rs3755319 A > C was associated with decreased lung cancer risk (Recessive model: adjusted OR = 0.69, 95 %CI = 0.57–0.84, P < 0.001). Moreover, eQTL analysis showed that the expression level of UGT1A1 in the rs3755319 CC genotype was lower than in the AA + AC genotype (P < 0.05). The plasma concentration of soy isoflavones in the rs3755319 CC genotype was higher than in the AA + AC genotype (P = 0.008).
We identified a potentially functional SNP, UGT1A1 rs3755319 A > C, as being associated with decreased lung cancer risk. Further experiments will be needed to explore the mechanisms underlying the observed associations.

Uric acid is a product of purine degradation, and uric acid may have multiple physiologic roles, including the beneficial effects as an antioxidant and neuroprotector, maintenance of blood pressure during low salt ingestion, and modulation of immunity. However, overproduction of metabolic uric acid, and/or imbalance of renal uric acid secretion and reabsorption, and/or underexcretion of extrarenal uric acid, e.g. gut, will contribute to hyperuricemia, which is a common metabolic disease. Long-lasting hyperuricemia can induce the formation and deposition of monosodium urate (MSU) crystals within the joints and periarticular structures. MSU crystals further induce an acute, intensely painful, and sterile inflammation conditions named as gout by NLRP3 inflammasome-mediated cleavage of pro-IL-1β to bioactive IL-1β. Moreover, hyperuricemia and gout are associated with multiple cardiovascular and renal disorders, e.g., hypertension, myocardial infarction, stroke, obesity, hyperlipidemia, type 2 diabetes mellitus and chronic kidney disease. Although great efforts have been made by scientists of modern medicine, however, modern therapeutic strategies with a single target are difficult to exert long-term positive effects, and even some of these agents have severe adverse effects. The Chinese have used the ancient classic prescriptions of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) to treat metabolic diseases, including gout, by multiple targets, for more than 2200 years. In this review, we discuss the current understanding of urate homeostasis, the pathogenesis of hyperuricemia and gout, and both modern medicine and TCM strategies for this commonly metabolic disorder. We hope these will provide the good references for treating hyperuricemia and gout.
